Transfers Summer 2015

for me, a chance is what is needed. I have said before, when Barkley got the chance at Everton, he took it and is now looked at by most of the big clubs as a possible purchase. I think that baker could be better than him if given the shot. he isn't incredibly young anymore Baker, so I feel it would benefit him to get some premier league matches under his belt

T-hazard and bamford are two players I would like to see here. I heard mourinho is a big fan of bamfotd, so I don't see us selling him. It would be great to sign the next Ronaldo or Messi, but we may have to wait many years for that kind of player to arrive on the scene; most youth players seem to be in it for the financial gain alone, not improving themselves as footballers like Ronaldo has through sheer determination, self motivation and hard work. These days the youngsters get offered nice contracts and good money to be youth players for top teams, so they don't see the need in becoming the best.

I hope we have youth players with that mentality, but it's going to be hard to find as they all seem to think they're entitled to play in the first team without actually proving themselves when on loan or when given a chance in the first team.

Bamfordinho could easily be our 3rd choice striker next season and T-Has replacing Salah is a no brainer.

Reus - Schurrle swap deal is a 50/50. I personally think he'll end up in Madrid with Bale going to United for £100mil+

Would take imbula over kondogbia all day.

That's another player I've been wanting us to sign, I've even mentioned him coming here and getting rid of Mikel. He is very comfortable on the ball and seems to have a lot of potential, although Premier League would be a big step for him.

I agree on recent form he isn't the player he was at Stuttgart/Bayern - I believe he only has 1 goal in 12 in Serie A this season? But I digress, I'd sign him for his hold up play if nothing else.... I think he'd do well in the Prem, and at 30 may be happy to play second choice to Diego...

No doubt he would jump at the chance to be back at a top club, but I just can't see him being worth the price. It's not just the goals, his finishing has been dreadful with Fiorentina and the national team. I'd be the first to buy his shirt, but there's got to be a better option for the €15M or so that they will want back for him.

If we were in the market for a center back (Shouldn't really as we have enough as it is), I would be very happy with Winston Reid on a free transfer.

Quality defender, would excel at a top team.

I think you are putting too much faith in our youngsters Praz. You can't just throw them all in at once. There is no way Kalas, Christensem, Ake, Loftus-Cheek, Baker, Van Ginkel and Bamford/Traore are all ready to come in and help us win titles. They are good prospects but they aren't going to improve our team if you throw them all in at once, if anything it would make us weaker. If we went with all of these youngsters next season then the gulf in class between our first team players and fringe players would be huge. Some of these players may not even be good enough for the Premier League yet so i think it would be a huge risk throwing them all in at once.

I didn't mean we should throw them all in at once, but surely for early rounds of cup games like FA cup and Capital one cup, we can play a couple of them with our regular starters?

Im not saying include all of them in one game, but just try and let 1 or 2 have some game time regularly each game, even if its just coming on as a sub for 15-20 minutes at the end of a game it'll be worth it.

and tbh some of the players that have already been given a chance have proven they can be very very good. Remember Kalas last season against Liverpool?

Arsenal bound if rumours are to be believed, they may even be in for him this month.

  • 1 month later...

Ever since Christmas, it is pretty clear that we need another defensive minded midfielder and an attacking midfielder.

Out

Cech

Mikel

Ramires

Oscar / Willian

Drogba (retire please)

In

Reus / Isco / Draxler

Pogba / Koke

Varane (would be lovely to pair him up with Zouma for the next 10 years)

I can see our team next year being

Courtious

Ivanovic

Zouma

Terry / Cahill / Varane

Azpilicueta

Pogba / Koke

Matic

Reus / Isco / Draxler

Fabregas

Hazard

Costa

We must have a fair bit of money put aside from our sales and income over the past 18 months.

Put that in with what we will get this season then that’s a good little kitty to bring in 2 or 3 quality players one of which should be a top player.

We need to bulk up our squad depth with quality rather than numbers, Jose plays with basically the same 15 players every season so instead of the likes of Mikel and Ramires we should be looking to add quality to the midfield rather than quantity.

A CB I don’t think is vital given Cahill, Ivan, Terry and Zouma are all proven and able CB’s. We have a few players out on loan who have done well when asked to come in too but maybe Jose will want one to bed in for when JT sadly hangs up his boots. I doubt we will get Varne unless we use Cech as a bargaining chip.

Attacking wise I think our wingers are done and dusted after spending shy of £30 million on Cuardrado, I do think we have made some errors in these dealing but it is what it is. I don’t think Drogba can be relied upon next season so his place is gone while Remy should and probably will want to move on to where he get’s a fair chance so we could be looking at one proven forward coming in and hopefully promoting Bamford since he has impressed on loan. We only play one striker after all.

What all that will cost I have no idea but it does seem we have to sell these days before we buy, so I can see Cech, Ramires, Mikel and a bunch of the loan players like Moses and Marin ect.

Uh oh, someone's been playing a little too much Football Manager.

I do wonder whether the rumours about Matuidi leaving PSG have any truth to them - I think he would be a perfect fit in our midfield.

he has signed a new contraact not too long ago

Uhhh not really.  We could use Cech to get Varane from Real Madrid.  We desperately need another attacking midfielder, so selling one of our miss firing one's could help fund it.  Finally, it's pretty obvious that we need another superstar holding midfielder to pair with Matic, so why not sell two of our worthless D-Mids to fund that one.

So who exactly is going to want our misfiring attacking midfielders and our worthless defensive midfielders?

Why would Madrid sell their best young defender?

Why would Juventus sell Pogba after he just signed a new 5 year contract... Ditto Dortmund and Rues?

Pure fantasy.

People always want us to get rid of the "deadwood" in the summer. It never happens. We can't just ship out half our squad in favour of 2 or 3 top players.

I agree that we can't ship half our squad, but you don't have to look further then january and last summers window for big changes to our squad. Mourinho seems to have no problems making squad changes when needed in the transfer windows.

Have you forgotten that teams sell players in their prime to make money?  I mean we've done it MULTIPLE times over the past 4 years.  So why wouldn't Dortmund or Juventus sell Reus or Pogba at a time that they know the will get the most money for them?

Especially Dortmund, they are going nowhere fast so why not cash in again?  They've already done it twice with Gotze and Lewandowski.

Thought everyone knew Gotze had a buyout clause and Lewandowski ran out his contract?

I thought the Lewandowski to Munich was agreed on before his contract ran out, which would have given Dortmund royalties because he was still under contract.  Gotze might have had a buyout clause but who's to say that Reus doesn't either with his new contract.

You make a good point, but I don't think I'm worthy of getting flak for expressing the same idea that other people have been saying for the past 10 months.

That is unless you are okay with mediocrity at Chelsea, because that is what I've seen from most of our players since Christmas.

Hopeful, i can see koke or perhaps draxler coming in. None of the others though. I think koke would make a world of difference, that cm spot is a need, obviously fabregas is undroppable, but he would be better suited at number 10, oscars far too inconsistent to be a regular starter. Koke comes in and our weakness is fixed. Just cb then, but not a need this year, maybe the following summer.

Draxler has barely played this season, don't think it would be possible.

I'd like to see lacazette come in to compete with costa.

Assuming bale, isco, pogba, koke, and rues aren't available, i'd stick with what we have attacking midfielder wise.

Maybe switch to a more traditional 433, and bring in someone like witsel to play with Matic and fabregas.

I think the key thing is whether Mourinho wants to keep going with trying to play a possesion game, or whether we will revert back to counter attack, which doesn't favour fabregas or hazard.
