Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Featured Replies

Really hope he stays. With Atletico rumoured to have bid for Higuain, i hope they stay away. If however he himself wants to leave, we have to wager Greizmann in return, only thing that would soften the blow.

If he requested the transfer, give it to him. He clearly doesn't think Conte will be compatible with him. We've seen how important it is for him to have a good relationship with the manager. He was willing to move mountains for Hiddink and Simeone but was an embarrassment with Mourinho.

If he feels he can't perform his best under Conte, better that he be honest about it than to stay and underperform.

He was fine under Mourinho in his first season, especially in the first half of the season when he was kicking goals in nearly every match.

It went sour at some point in his second season and the relationship between player and coach continued to deteriorate at a rapid rate, but let's not change history to suggest they never got along to begin with.

Fantastic news! Also like that it says we are still after Morata. A proper strikeforce can get you very far as long as you have a solid unit behind them and we all know Conte can create that.

I think a more technical stiker alongside Costa would suit more than Morata. Higuain I would imagine is perfect.

Ignore the so-called ITK's on Twitter saying he wants to leave, yet to see a credible source once.

A little worrying that many spanish papers seem to report it though. Like AS for example. Today they have reported that he has handed in a formal transfer-request since we told him he would not be sold. Not that i think its going to help him unless we somehow sign a worldclass striker.

These rumours remind me of that period of about 3 years when Drogba seemed to be linked to a move every window for no reason. Spanish press are a bit different to ours, they tend to support their clubs if it's to do with foreign relations rather than here where we screw them all the time except if you're called Liverpool. We already know A. Madrid want him, and we already know it makes no financial or footballing sense to sell him, as A. Madrid can't afford the market price. The rumours also have very little currency here and there's no way if Costa had handed in an official transfer request that the media here wouldn't know or be all over it.

I'm thinking Spanish hacks being hacks.

We finally got a striker who can score  after all shower of shoite strikers we had then we should sell him to please athleti president because he loved to have costa back in his team.Great cunning plan to make us look like fools if it happens.

I think it would be more that an unhappy Diego would be pretty useless as we saw at the start of last season. There would be little point of keeping him IF he didn't want to be here.

That's all just paper talk though, nothing concrete to suggest he doesn't want to be here. We need him to stay and want to be here, hopefully Conte can convince him if it is required.

Fair enough it's all paper talk tho.But we should do all the possible efforts to make him happy which is very important for our team at least in this season. We have very little time to bring in new striker without the CL make diego costa must stay with us.

Remember how Drogba wanted to leave every year for 10 years

I read his first autobiog (which is crap), and he confirmed he wanted to leave every summer for the first  three years. On his way to London to sign for us he prayed he'd fail his medical as he wanted to stay with Marseille.

All of which explains why it took him a few years to show his true ability.

Hopefully there's no substance to latest media reports, but some seem to suggest that he's handed in a transfer request.

If it's false reporting, hopefully the club can quash the rumours swiftly.

Why not?

With no European football this year he'll have plenty of recovery time between games so should be able to stay fit and sharp all season.

I hope I'm wrong and you're right, believe me. But you would be fibbing if you didn't agree that he's past his peak, and he doesn't seem to have the ability to poach many 6yd box goals, the bread and butter goals that the leagues top scorers usually clock up over a season. Plus how many games will he actually play taking into account past injuries and disciplinary records ?
