Happy Birthday J. F. Hasselbaink

Featured Replies

Since it is his birthday, we should include his birthday hat-trick against Wolves.  Still one of my favourite moments at the Bridge.  Came on as a sub at 2-1 down - then in 19 minutes Jimmy said "f**k it, it's my birthday and I'll score if I want to".

I seem to remember he had been in really crap form before that hat-trick as well.  When he was in the mood he was Drogba-esque.

Jimmy Floyd was my favourite player for while growing up. He could strike a ball cleaner than any player I've seen. There aren't many top strikers about these days, I think he would be in the top 10 in the world if he was playing today. I'd say he would be close to aguero as the best in the premiership.

when i was growing up my parents avoided getting chelsea shirts with player names printed on them because the first one i got was of big ruud who i adored at the time up until he got sacked(was 8 years old and didn't understand why at the time, was just hugely disappointed)

4 years later i got over that cliff and got an oversized JFH shirt that i grew into and still wear today albeit it's a really tight fit :laugh2:

Watching that Wolves video, it's a shame it never worked out for Scott Parker here. He could have been a big player for us if he hadn't had been unlucky enough to sign at a time we had Makelele.

Very bizarre sight, seeing him chest-bump Hasselbaink. I hardly remember him playing to be honest. So faint in my memory, I just remembered after watching that he was a Ranieri buy and not a Jose one. (Mixed up with another scarcely used central midfielder, Steve Did well)

quality player and someone who is showing john barnes etc exactly how its done by starting of management at a lower club and doing well,i hope he makes it right to the top of the management game and all without the mention of the colour of his skin.

oh jimmy jimmy

Loved him as a player, rate him as a manager. Seen burton play twice this season, he has them playing good football. Not afraid to get his hands dirty with lower league football.

Had a dream last night in which I remember arguing that van Persie was Hasselbaink's natural successor in the league... upon waking I'm not sure I actually agree with that.

Jimmy's boys have bottle:

They were down to ten men and 1-0 down, missed a penalty in the 93rd minute, then equalised in the 99th. They are now (hopefully) two games away from promotion.

Edit: Correction, they weren't down to ten men, I don't know why I thought that.
