Loic Remy

Big chance for him to get a real run in the team now, here's a snippet if an interview with him from Sky Sports

Loic Remy insists he is eager to impress Jose Mourinho and gain a regular starting place for Chelsea after admitting he had grown frustrated at the club.

Remy’s winning goals against Hull City and Stoke City have edged Chelsea closer to a first league title since 2010, but has played the majority of his games for the Blues from the bench.

Diego Costa has scored 19 Premier League goals since joining from Atletico Madrid in the summer, but Remy is desperate to make his time in the team count.

Speaking on Super Sunday, the Frenchman said: “It's always good to play with this team because since I signed for Chelsea I was a bit frustrated because Diego was on fire, he scored so many goals for the team so I didn't play much.

“Now the opportunity for me to play is here so I want to take my chance and score goals.

“As a striker I have to score. For me I was really pleased and really proud to score for the team.

“It was difficult because you play football and you want to enjoy every game. It is frustrating when you can't really play as much as you want.”

The 28-year-old has scored seven goals for the Blues since joining from QPR in the summer, and despite Mourinho claiming he owes the striker for his important contributions, Remy says it is a privilege to play under the Portuguese boss.

“For me this manager is a really good manager. To have the chance to work with him now is a very good chance. He’s really great, and kind," he said.

“We know him, we know what he’s done in the past. For me to work this type of manager is good because I know I’m going to learn every day.”

I'm not happy with him getting injured whenever Costa is injured. We need a more reliable second option in my opinion for next season.

This. His quality is undoubted for me. When he plays I am confident he will score goals.

However let us look at this from another perspective. If we had gotten past PSG and were now in a 2 game series with Barca we would be left relying upon a 37 year old Didier Drogba because our second choice striker has gone down at the same time as our first one, again.

As I said in the Bamford thread if Remy is here next season and Bamford is not, we need to sign another back up option so Didier can just be out 15 minute defensive forward option.

So what's happened here? Heard a Twitter rumour he fell out with Mourinho? I don't for a second believe that, not when he [was] going to get some playing time. Now I see nothing about his availability for the Arsenal game, he's a top player and unless he's injured, which as far as I'm aware of us no one has, his absence is a bit perplexing.

The look on some peoples faces when Bamford is our cover player and comes up short whenever he plays. I like the prospect of playing youth don't get me wrong, but the guy hasn't even played at Premiership level, he hasn't proven himself like Danny Sturridge did at Bolton.

He needs another season, I say keep him at Middlesbrough for the next season see how he does in the Premier League, they are bound to be promoted.

In the meantime we can't be setting our hopes on bloody Bamford I wish people would see that, I would love to keep Rmey here next season but can't see that being the case. Can't see Drogba being here either, so we should be looking at 2 more targets next season upfront should they both go that's if.

Is it true Drodba will sign another 1year contract with Chelsea. I've heard it in the media. Dunno if there is any truth to that.

I hope not, we need someone better then him as backup for a injury troubled Costa. I'm hoping we go for Lacazette, since he is both versatile and knows where the goal is.

Think we will struggle to hold on to Remy if Real, Barca or Bayern come calling in the summer. When that happens we must not be weak. We should only let him go if they give us Messi, Bale or Ribery in exchange.

I doubt anybody here would say no to Remy staying, he has definitely proven himself even with little game time.

But with that being said he's a top class striker, I think it's pretty much proven Costa is the number one, it's barely even rotational for us, he's backup not rotational. If Costa is fit he plays, pure and simple. Going to be hard to imagine Remy wanting to stay for another season, especially when a lot of good sides would have him as their number one.
