New strikers for next season

Featured Replies

Today's match showed the urgent need to bring some new strikers to the bridge for next year .. Costa with dodgy hamstring(s) they must be too short  , Loic Remy (who i like) but is obviously made of glass and the legend who's time has come are not the answer.

What do you guy's think about the situation ? and would someone like Charlie Austin be a shout and wouldn't cost mega bucks, the return of Patrick Bamford possibly as 3rd striker or will we blow millions on some import.

We need to have a plan A, B & C sorted so that we are not as vulnerable as we were today .. god it was close.

Costa and Remy work for me - it'll be interesting to see who gets the third spot next season. I don't think a young striker's the answer - wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being someone like Zamora, or (probably a bit more unlikely still) Jelavic.

Remy, Costa and Bamford would be fine for me, but I doubt that it would be enough for the CL.

But as it is, I'd rather focus solely on the PL anyway, because the competition will be stronger next season.

If we win the title don't expect a big money striker signing.

Jose will put more faith in youth next season with maybe Bamford given a go. Solanke won't b far away either.

I'd like us to go after one of Vietto or Icardi and keep Remy another year. Next year strikeforce should look someting like Costa-Vietto-Remy. Getting Bamford in as third choice would limit his minutes (unless Jose comes up with a 2 striker system or Bamford is 2nd choice)

If Bamford does the trick with a PL loan next year, move remy on and bring him back as a 2nd choice for 2016-17 season. Best outcome would be if boro get promoted and Bamford continues another year with them in the PL.

Got Bertrand Traore don't forget playing as a CF for Vitesse. Don't know about the work permit situation though.

Vitesse (unbeaten in 11 games) continued their hot streak up into fourth place as they beat Excelsior 3-1 away.

Bertrand Traore, on loan from Chelsea, scored twice to take his league tally to 10.

It is very unlikely that he gets a workpermit with the rules changing this summer. Would be good if we can sneak in the application through before the rules change on 1st June.

Costa, Remy, Bamford does me.

Don't think there's many quality strikers who would want to come and be 3rd choice here, particularly when Jose rotates his squad as little as possible.

I reckon next season will be make or break for Bamford.  I don't see Costa or Remy leaving. If we sign another striker (under 25 years old) from overseas, Bamford will be pretty much be gone from the club. I hope he's patient and not doing a lukaku should there's an opportunity.

Costa, Remy and Bamford.

Remy isn't injury prone, he has just been unlucky that he has picked up injuries at the same time as Diego Costa. If he was our number 1 striker, he would have been available for all but a handful of games. If you want to find a player made of glass then look no further than Jack Wilshere.

We need someone to replace Drogba though, Drogba looks done. It's got to the point where Drogba can't even pass a ball anymore. I hope Bamford is bought in. Drogba has played 27 games this season, if he can get that many games then i see no reason why Bamford can't get a good amount of games too.

Think we defo need to have a young British / English forward as one of the main three, It seems like we are producing youngsters but not to the quality that Jose or the 1st team need which is surely a fault by us .. whilst it's good to be able to splash cash on marquee signings I'm sure we would all like to see youngsters being brought through the ranks and filling squad places for years to come (although we do some to get a fair return on any outlays for ones we move on)

Agree with the sentiment here that we won't buy outside the club. We need to spend the money on a decent right side attacking midfielder , which is the area we lack in most.

To seriously challenge for the CL, I think we need another top striker. Costa and Remy are too injury prone. Of course, it would be nice to add one of the youth strikers, but I don't see it happening.

I'm torn between wanting Bamford to get the third spot, and wanting him to stay at Boro if they get promoted. He'd almost certainly get more minutes there, but we've seen before that if you don't capitalise on a player's momentum and give him a shot then they can fall behind.

Remy is a good second-choice, but we may be able to do better. I would've liked Benteke here but Villa look like they're staying up now. The most important thing is probably to rehab Costa properly.

The dark horse is Solanke. He could do a Loftus-Cheek and skip the loan process, playing in the u21s and getting a few first-team appearances here and there.
