WHAT A WIN! WHAT A WIN! WHAT A WIN! THE HOLY GRAIL IS SO CLOSE I CAN SMELL IT!

Hyperbole aside, my thoughts:

1) Typical Mourinho masterclass, with shades of the game versus Man City early last year, not to mention countless games in the 2004-06 stretch. Let the opponent dominate possession, pick them off on the counter and then sit tight until the final whistle. The QPR game was fortuitous but it wasn't exactly a champions-defining performance. This was. IMO, the best performance since our highly professional performance against Tottenham during the League Cup final.

2) As expected, Zouma was brought in defensive midfield to fight Fellaini. A daunting task, but Zouma nullified his threat significantly. Injuries notwithstanding, he'll likely prove a truly inspired Chelsea signing.

3) I feel sorry for Remy, but in the twilight of his career Drogba seems to have found his niche as a defensive forward. Sure his pace has diminished his offensive threat greatly, but he makes up for it in endeavour and his physicality is still difficult to deal with. He did certainly disrupt United's defence and he roughed up Herrera well enough to reduce his impact. This is in contrast to Falcao, who provides relatively little beyond his ability to poach goals - and that's when he's in form! Still, I would like him to move into coaching after this season.

4) Just when talk around Oscar's future at Chelsea intensifies, he comes up with a solid performance when it was nearly needed. Nice interplay with Hazard to secure the goal.

5) Hazard, Hazard, Hazard...where would we be without him? Again he comes up with the game's defining play. Truly we are blessed to have him.

6) Props to Matic and our defense - probably their best game as a unit since the aforementioned Tottenham game. JT's leadership is crucial for games like this. The Cinderella song says that "you don't know what you got...'til it's gone." His loss will be incalculable when he finally decides to hang it up.

7) Herrera is much more effective further ahead than he is in a deeper role. The loss of Carrick hurt them as much as everyone expected.

8) Mata is a champ, but Matic/Zouma snuffed him out well.

9) 10 POINTS CLEAR!

Souness just said Chelsea fans would not hae enjoyed that game.

Uhm we won so of course we enjoyed it? Where the f**k do they pull these pundits from, it's usually the Liverpool ones that talk this sh*te aswell.

Big game from us and another big result. We were far from our best, but we played to our strengths - organisation, concentration, workrate, dedication. Aside from Rooney's early chance, we nullified United and Jose's plan worked, whether we like the look of it or not.

Hazard again fantastic, carrying us over the line and a clear MotM. Dave, Oscar and Terry with inspired performances. Special mention to Cahill, who has gotten over his dip in form and looks the player he should be.

Drogba's lost it, I'm afraid. His only positive contribution came at the end, when we needed to keep the ball away from our goal. He offered next to nothing upfront and more often than not our attacks ended with his mistakes. In a way, it is a testament to our strenght that we keep winning with him in the team.

great performance, perfect tactics as usual, and a huuuuuge win. As a wise man once said, Possession only matters to those who want it. We didn't want possession so stats about uniteds 'dominance' are irrelevant. what we did want to do was sit back, defend and hit them on the counter. the 1-0 win was all the evidence we need that we executed our plan perfectly.

Val look who's on Chelsea TV!!!

Was it my sweetie? I have to peruse the internet tomorrow and see if I can find it, I don't get CTV. Thanks for the tip, Scott!

This possession nonsense is really ridiculous, if we had this bloke, if this fella done this, then that would have happened, if only that shot had been ten feet lower.

If my Uncle Willie was born a woman he'd be my Aunt Fanny.

Let me put it in very simple terms. 11 men one side, 11 men another side, two goals, one ball. If one team puts ball in goal more than the other they win.

We did, they didn't .

Here endeth the lesson.

utd allll over

Good game from us and Van Gaal played right into Jose's tactics (I thought he would have learned by now). Strangely enough, I was never worried about the result once we scored. Loads of possession means nothing if you can get anything going near the 18 yard box. Most of there possession was wasted by moving the ball from left  to right near the middle of the pitch and we just waited. They were expecting our players to be drawn out, but I think it showed why we have one of the best defensive outfits in the league, no one got duped.

The only real criticism from me would be maybe aimed towards Oscar at the start of the game - he looked completely lost on the right and seemed to be forcing Hazard and Fabregas to constantly cover for him. Also, the big man up front has lost most of his pace, but he's still one of the best at holding the ball and the play.

It gets better and better...lets finish it up next week  ::ChELSeAFaN::

This takes the pressure well off the Arsenal game.

Can literally go there and piss them the f**k off. Much rather we got our two wins against Leicester and Palace as that will make Liverpool have to give us a guard of honor.

Apparently, a few United fans went completely overboard outside the ground after. Fan has been stabbed.

Absolutely pathetic and disgusting .

Onto the game, we were average and United played better but that's what we do best. Still hope they finish above Arsenal.

Has anyone mentioned De Gea's premature...celebration. Oh how I laughed and a guy who went mad in the pub was told, by his mate, 'sit you down you winker, he didn't score'.

Snap Womble.

Are all of us racist? Don't generalise against other fans if you wouldn't want Chelsea fans to be generalised.

Especially as you know literally nothing about the incident, if it even happened.

Can't find any reports of it on the web or Twitter.

Found it hilarious that Oscar got the fould for that and then mind you, not 5 minutes later, Drogba does to Shaw what Shaw did to Oscar in that picture, and Shaw gets the free kick again.  Great consistency.
