Davey Baby: "Stevie G - I adore him, I want to bear his children"

TV interview when he was Swansea manager I think?

yep.

"greatest there is, greatest there was, greatest there ever will be" and can't make it into his own managers EPL XI.

Just seen the Gerrars interview on MOTD... seems a decent lad, don't know why you're all so harsh on him.

Fair interview though, could have got sickly but it didn't, credit to Lineker.

So I suppose Gerrard won't play in L*v*rp**l's last match of the season? All those tributes and then still playing an unglamorous away match kind of takes away the shine, doesn't it :-)

No you've got it completely wrong Val, that was just round 1 of the goodbye, next week we have Gerrard 2 the final farewell!!

I deliberately talked though it because I thought it would be nauseating.  Glad Gary handled it well.

But we'll have a match of our own to concentrate on. And a little thing like lifting the PL trophy!

They showed a 30mins special here on SG's farewell just after the game and 5mins of our championship celebrations...sentimental league instead of premier league to me.

Ahhhhh, now I understand! The Scouse/British media way of life just passes me by at times...

Count your blessings, Val!!

The Russians know how to do things.

Why didn't Stevie score 8 goals yesterday and why isn't there a bronze bust of Liverpool's greatest ever player in the middle of the pitch?

Pathetic really, not only did the team not give a toss but the crowd could hardly sing a song - off to the Gulag with them all

As some of us, to coin a current popular phrase on these parts, are armchair supporters the only way we can view games and gather opinions is from television. I'd like to hear an insightful analysis of the game, not have to listen to the nauseating tribute spewing out of Sky Sports.

Gem, I was at the game so I can offer you an insightful analysis.

First off, the guard of honour, and what a guard of honour it was, and how honoured I was to witness it. Nobody slipped over you'll be surprised to hear. Stevie la high-fived every single Palace player, ignoring every single one of his teammates. He then proceeded to pass to every single Palace player once the game kicked off which I thought was quite a nice touch.

But let's not talk about the game yet, let's talk about You'll Never Walk Alone, sung with such gusto by myself and my fellow Kopites on the day. Spine-tingling Gem. Goosebumps. Inspiring. You may ask yourself why Liverpool never lose at home. This is the reason. Atmosphere. The Palace players were simply in awe. Sh*tting themselves. What I particularly liked was the way the Liverpool fans allowed the Palace fans to remain audible throughout. Now that's what I call class.

Then the game. A blur of emotions. Gerrard displaying his whole repertoire. The 60 yard passes all hitting their intended target, which was a little old lady sitting in row Z. Liverpool went 1-0 up, a goal instigated by Gerrard, created by Gerrard and scored by Gerrard, although he allowed Lallana to take all the credit. The crowd went wild and you could see the Palace players visibly wilt. No wonder they call it Fortress Anfield. Sure, Palace scored three scratchy goals but we'll overlook that. The day was all about Gerrard, typically putting in another anonymous performance, in order not to outshine his teammates, or the opposition. What a man.

The final whistle. I don't mind telling you I wept. I'm still weeping now. The Palace players hugged him, his teammates hugged him, the referee hugged him. Brendan Rodgers tried to hug him. It was beautiful. Everybody trooped off Gem. Not a person in the stadium left. They waited Gem. I've never see such classy, dignified and respectful waiting. It showed a lot of character.

Then the moment arrived. A second entrance. This time with his daughters, all three of whom are blonde and look nothing like him. That's what Gerrard's all about. He refuses to take any credit.

There was a presentation, there were some more hugs, there was a lap of honour and there were a few words into a microphone. Low-key does not begin to describe it. Did I mention the mosaic? Every card made of cardboard, in case you thought they were plastic.

He was beckoned on to the pitch with the immortal words, "He's won almost everything there is to win". You can't beat a bit of scouse humour. Oh how we laughed.

Redknapp was there, Carjacker, they were there to interview him, on the pitch, like it was a Champions League final, but let's face it Gem, it was far more important than that. You may query the amount of coverage but you're being cynical. Here was a guy that played football, that even captained his country once Terry was stripped, that nearly won a league title. Above all, there was his loyalty. You ask Phil Collins about his loyalty. He'll tell you.

It was epic Gem and I'm so glad I landed a ticket. One final chance to see the man in the flesh, spraying those 60 yard passes, taking potshots, losing his footing. Who wouldn't want to be there?

You're all a bunch of miserable old b*stards if you ask me.

I'm proud to want his babies. Just a pity his wife doesn't feel the same.
