I was watching the Morning View on Sky Sports News this morning and they had Ray Wilkins on, this was his Chelsea team of the decade:

For me I'd swap Robben for Joe Cole and Willian for. Although I wouldn't argue with the inclusion of Robben, Willian does baffle me, he's a decent player but he's nowhere near the level of Essien, Ballack, J Cole, Duff etc were for us right now.

Definitely swap him for Essien, or Ballack in that role.

I almost got the feeling he was trying to pick a balanced team but even with that I'd stick Essien in. He said something about Willian creating counter attacks with his pace, Essien did the same.

Yeah would swap Esien for Willian ok but definitely not Cole for Robben.

Joey was a standout for us in 07 08 as well.

Yes almost forgot, Robben never stayed fit enough to be in the team of the decade for me. I actually wonder if people who go for him think of how good he backed, not that he wasn't good for us but he got better at Real and then at Bayern.

Defense, yep, i agree with

 

I would replace Willian for Essien in midfield.

 

I also think i would go with Joe Cole over Robben. Robben is a brilliant footballer but i think Joe Cole gave us more in his time here than Robben did. Hazard, yep, he has to be in there.

 

Drogba, easily our best striker over the last 10 years.

Robben definitely in simply because he's one of the most exciting players I've ever seen at the Bridge. Shame about the downturn in form and injuries but at his best he was unstoppable.

 

Willian is a thoroughly bizarre one. Can probably name 5 players ahead of him off the top of my head, two of whom would be in the current side (Matic and Cesc). Essien, Ballack and maybe even Mata have better shouts. Apart from that it's a pretty good team. :wink:

I suppose it all depends on what the general idea behind his team is. Best overall individual service to the club over the decade? Best individual in each position? Best individual at their peak of performance? Best-functioning possible XI as a whole? Favourites?

Jimmy wouod miss out because a decade is from the 2004/05 season but Eidur would make it.



I don't know, Jimmy drove me nuts.. Lazy, couldn't head a ball, arms in the air non stop... Shocking! Scored goals some how though

I'm pretty sure I could figure out more.

I loved eduir but let's not pretend that partnership was better then the ones above. All but the last won significant honors

i'm a tad confused, i thought a decade ended with a zero not a 5 or 6, the same  as centuries, how does willian get into a team of the decade midway through a decade.

Ballack, Essien, Joey and Eidur would all deserve a spot before Willian.
