Petr Cech to Arsenal

Well i'll think of your sacrifices when you have to change the batteries on your remote control. Ottawa Fury rock dude i'm so like such a fan.

Oh, so I'm not a fan cause I live Canada? That's both clever and original. So mate, why are you posting here? I can advise you the vast majority of posters on this forum do not live within Stamford Bridges shadow so apparently you're wasting your time on a forum where the vast majority just don't get football, sorry soccer, according to you.

Perhaps I could bring up the fact about how I was born a Chelsea fan, no choice (not that I'm complaining) and have the old and faded Chelsea baby gear to prove it, despite being born in Canada. I guess I can bring up that despite being a first generation Canadian on my mom's side, who was born and raised in Battersea and can trace our direct roots over 200 years ago to the Battersea region. I guess I could bring up the bit about the family having a business in Sloane Square that not only existed before the club even existed, but still operates and counts the likes of Jose Mourinho ( especially during his first tenure) as clients, have met him myself (well met I use quite loosely, more interacted) when I worked there one summer. Or perhaps I could mention how I can always go to a CFC game when over seas because there's over half a dozen season tickets across my uncles/cousins who live in Surrey/Chelsea/Battersea/Sutton. Last one was actually the community shield played at Villa Park cause the Olympics had Wembley booked. I don't get the luxury to go as often as you might get, but it seems I might cherish it a bit more as I look forward to engaging with fellow CFC fans as opposed to trying to find ways to discredit them not only as fans of the club, but of the very game itself.

I suppose I could mention how I've actually seen more games at Stanford bridge before 2003 than since, in case you were worried I only started caring since Roman game. Suppose I could mention how I've literally saved up to pay the extraordinary costs numerous times to travel half the world just to see the team live.

So I'll save you the effort of thinking again, clearly it's a strain on you and I don't want this site held responsible for you having some sort of brain aneurysm , and just advise you that ya, despite being born and breed in Canada ( oh, and you're about as close to Ottawa as I am smart guy, good job there) I do actually understand football in the UK and the club and it's rivalries, hence my stance.

So you can stop patronizing Chelsea fans ( I'd say fellow CFC fans but I've not yet seen you post anything that suggests you actually support theclub, just posts trying to discredit people as Chelsea fans) because geographic proximity to Stamford Bridge isn't a luxury for the vast majority of CFC fans but it does nothing to diminish their feeling or attachment to the club.

Oh, and if you were intellegent enough to think it through, you'd also realise just how crucial foreign fans are to the sustainability of CFC as a top European Football Club.

I could also bring up that I've had best sports writer in England (for god knows how long now), Martin Samuel, not just comment many times on some of my Chelsea musings, but has also written a whole article dedicated to one of my Chelsea comments and then turned that article into his debate feature.

So I guess if I will never gain your appreciation towards my understanding of football, sorry soccer, I suppose I can rest knowing that a guy who just might be the most celebrated British football writer still in a job certainly thinks I might know a thing or two about football, sorry soccer..... but now I'm just showing off

Hit a nerve? :)

The claim made by some people to be "proper" supporters, whereas others are just armchair supporters IS very annoying and condescending, not to mention baseless. I can understand Barry's objection to that, however verbose.

Me too, Blue Daze was a prime example who pissed me off too.

I wasn't meaning to belittle Barry's response, it just came over as amusingly disproportionate :)

Give it a rest mate, he's gone.

Just making a point one that I think is valid to the you're not a real fan crap that's constantly spouted by a minority here. Also if you bothered to read I'm not the first one who brought him up.

Blue Daze did have some interesting things to say about Chelsea whether you like it or not. Mind you how someone so young could be so pompous is also valid. But i would always go with a season ticket holder who makes sacrifices with work and family and the huge financial cost against someone who's never stepped foot in Stamford Bridge.

What's that got to do with anything?

You do know plenty of posters in here are not from London so getting to the bridge is not easy right?

Your ignorance is staggering.

I don't think people who make sacrifices with work and family have better knowledge of the game, i just think they are more irresponsible. I love Chelsea, but work and family comes first, as it should do.

LOL That will enrage the Better Fan Brigade. :-)

but he's right

if you're in a midlife crisis, about to go through a divorce, kids don't want to talk to you etc because you're going to chelsea games every weekend then you're an absolute tool and need to get your priorities right

if someone has a vast and respectable knowledge of the game i couldn't care less where they come from

give me a long time overseas chelsea fan chinaman with his coaching badges over a drunken nobhead who screams "gamon jt smash it into the box m8" any bloody day of the week - not saying any of you are like that but that is the level this argument is descending to

Just ignore him.

I probably shouldn't have said what I said anyway and I apologise for that but this whole you're not a true fan crap really has to stop, it has no basis at all. It's like saying you know more about a movie because you make movies when in actual fact someone who doesn't might know a hell of a lot more.

Im aware cech has been great for us........Im aware he deserved his move to a big club and first team position. I really think Arsenal are good enough for us to really worry about having him in goal......ok im full of woe n doom today about the the thought that the charity sheild will go to penalties........AND GUESS WHAT........................not only that, whoever it was that said hes worth an extra 15 points to Ars (jt ? ) is damn right.........Although Petr is a good guy, hes earned millions from cfc...We shoulda sold him elsewhere and sentiment should have come second to throwing away the title  ( poss ) bcoz of it....In my opinion this wasnt the best move from Jose

It's worse. It's like saying you know more about movies because you go to the cinema to watch them rather than watching them at home, and that gives you some special magical insight that the DVD spectator can never understand. I.E. it's bollocks.

Probably the same idiots who moan about the atmosphere at the bridge being crap because its full of tourists and no "real" chelsea go anymore. Oh the irony.

cant win mate.

f**k em all.

Yours was way better than mine lol
