Following Our Nearest & Dearest Rivals, 2015/2016

I think West Brom have just upped the pace of their game and aren't as sloppy. In the first half they were too slow and gave away the ball too much, it was like they were afraid of City.

For me that's down to City though... if they leave too much space in front of the back four (i.e. to press) Sterling/Silva would run riot... West Brom had no option other than to sit deep...

Still think citeh are the team we have to worry about...they have so much talent, where they struggle is at the back and in the dug-out...me thinks Jose will park the bus Sunday, can't afford to fall five points behind so early

What a bitter classless prick. Weasel uses whatever argument to make his club look less of a laughing stock when they're down.

He's such a cocky wee prick.  Laying into us about history, laying into Man Utd about where you finished, and then the old "Net Spend" chestnut.

I also dislike the way he constantly touches people on the shoulder in such a condescending manner.  If he tried that on me I'd lamp the c**t

Fair play, City did what they had to do today.  But it's the first game of the season, long way to go.  Just as it is for us, Arsenal, and Man Utd.

I think people are making a bigger deal of the City result is because the rest of the "top 4" had pretty poor first games.

We play city this weekend, so lets hope we show up (although I fear Jose will set up for a draw)

Setting up for a draw is good though a point away to city is a good result.

No it bloody isn't. 2 points from our first two games is not what I call a rip-roaring start to the season. Our "rivals", bar Arsenal, have picked up points, we need to set up for all 3.

The old cliche is 'it's a marathon, not a sprint'

Couple seasons ago we were winning games 5 and 6 nil for the first few weeks of the season before not winning it.

After matchday 1, City look like the team to beat. Add De Bruyne and i'd put my money on them to win the title. I can't see us beating them on sunday so i'd be very happy if we can take a point home.

I know it's way to early but I have been one of the only people amongst my friend and people I chat to about football that has been saying a City for the title. Now I'm not saying they will definitely win it but for people to write them off has been stupid, the questions about the age of Toure, the form of Kompany etc. I said last season they would be better this season and I think they will. I'm not saying there team is good enough to sustain succes over a long period as it clearly does need some reworking but I think they could definitely be Champions come May next year but I could also see us been Champions next May. There's a long way to go for sure.

ok best get the medals ready then.

the coverage and ott reaction to football these days never ceases to amaze me...just as I was surprised so many weren't taking city's threat for the title seriously, I'm now amazed at the level of hyperbole their one result at west brom has generated on here, on twitter and even among the media...balance has gone out of the window completely...one bad result for us and suddenly we have gone from champions elect to jose under pressure, he's pissed off, club in crisis etc...really is a joke

Totally agree, before pre season we were clear champions of england, best manager and owner in the world, plans for an iconic standium, well balanced quality squad. Then, a few meaningless friendlies and so and so has not signed and dropped 2 points against swansea and now we are suddenly bollox. Order will be resumed soon enough don't panic.

I've had City down to win it as well, it'll be close but I think their attacking quality will see them through.

Not sure why people don't take city seriously. Even during the pre season people were predicting Chelsea, utd or arsenal to win the league yet city hardly got a mention like they don't even exist. Our rival this season isn't going to be arsenal or utd but city. The same club that has finished in the top two in the last 4 yrs.

Last season the only reason they didn't challenge was because yaya was at the African nations cup and by the time he came back we had stretched our lead making us impossible to catch. Don't forget they were level on points with us on New Year's Day before yaya left.

He's their most important player, not media darling silva or even aguero and as long as he plays I can see them winning it again.

I agree with most of this, I think there were a few reasons they didn't win last year, we were better prepared for one but focusing on City themselves, Pellegrini's restrictions as a manger were there for all to see, Toure spitting his dummy out, they didn't improve their team and some players just weren't in great form (even Aguero had a poor spell). I do think the ACON didn't help them aswell but I think all those other factors were what ultimately caused their season to crash.

I'll be the first to admit that I overlooked City for the title this season. The main reason for this that I don't think their squad is one that collectively deals with adversity well at all. I think there are too many egotistical prima donnas in the squad and not enough team spirit. I also think Pellegrini's tactical incompetence will hurt them in bigger games and especially in Europe. Finally, I think they are weak defensively, Kompany is vastly overrated, and judging from the way they play it always seems like they don't work enough at defending as a unit.

That said though, they still have a pretty awesome squad talent-wise and on their day their first team is as dangerous as any. If they can keep their main men fit consistently this season, which they have never really been able to, then they could really get on a roll. If they do that, then look out.
