Following Our Nearest & Dearest Rivals, 2015/2016

In all honesty, I'll take my hat off to them today, deservedly in the final, I think they will win it too, I'd rather they didn't, I don't get cheering on English teams in Europe and I hate them, with their sense of self entitlemnet, but fair play to them if they do. Would never expect the same show of respect from any of them to us, but I'll try not to sink to their levels, I think they reached a new low last season when they were comparing our bus parade to theirs in 2005, one of the prettiest, weirdest and embarrassing things I've ever seen in football, a Liverpool supporting friend trying to condone it to me was cringe worthy.

if it's any consolation Villareal had already secured a CL spot for next season as they will finish 4th in Spain. Sevilla on the other hand, like Liverpool, must win the Europa League to get a CL spot. Should be a good final.

Made mistake of tuning into talksport and their fans were awful...of course lots of pompous bollox about how Anfield is best atmosphere and clubs can 'learn from them', how they don't need plastic flags etc...but the way they were carrying on, it was like they'd beaten a European giant, not a mediocre Villarreal side with a Tottenham flop up front..also seemed to take victory over Sevilla for granted, forgetting they've won it last two years...better make it a hat-trick

The only time Anfield is loud us when they're live on TV in a big game like tonight. Any other time they barely make a peep.

Unless they are getting beat in that big game, then all you hear are plastic seats banging as they all f**k off 15 minutes before the whistle.

Putting my dislike aside I'll admit to them being worthy finalists.

Let's all hope that Sevilla get it done. Keeps the season interesting right up to its bitter end I guess.

Loads thinking it's a sure thing for Liverpool.

Sevilla are a classy outfit and have won the Europa a few times in the past few seasons so they know how to handle these finals.

I think Sevilla will beat them personally.

Klopp is doing an excellent job with the dross he was left with by Rodgers.

Hate seeing them do well.

In the Europa.

He's been very average in the league, more so than Rodgers

I hope you're right mate

Just a feeling mate, watched Sevilla in the Europa for a few years now and they always look a classy outfit.

They sold their main striker last season but the Frenchman they brought in seems to be banging them in for fun now.

I'm surprised nobody has tried to get away with the 'well it's only a Mickey Mouse trophy anyway..." argument

Don't think you can now the CL place comes with it.

Any European trophy is a biggy for the fans, anything below the CL though other fans will try to belittle as much as possible unless they win it.

It's the cringe fest with the press that most cant stomach if Liverpool win it, it will be unbearable.

I don't think any trophy should be regarded as such in all honesty. It seems that many regard trophies as mickey mouse trophies simply because of the benefits from winning it. Surely winning a trophy should trump what you get for it? There's to much thrown out about prize money etc but that doesn't go down in the history books. It's not like someone will look back in 20 years say oh they won the Cup but didn't get as much money as those that came 4th.

Well no, obviously it isn't actually true, it's just the kind of cognitive dissonance you expect from football fans.

Of course and I hope you don't think my post was aimed at you. It was more just aimed at that status of people calling any trophy a Mickey Mouse trophy.

Yep, I've said as much in the separate Klopp thread. Two finals in his first season with an average squad of players he's inherited. Can see him making them a threat next season and I'm pretty pissed about the situation.

Agreed. I think they'll get a top four finish next season, at least.

There's going to be a lot of competition for the top four next season; as it stands I don't have a clue what's going to happen. To be honest the only side that I would say with any confidence are going to finish in the top four are Man City under Guardiola. I would say that there are six pretty strong candidates, with Leicester and West Ham, maybe even Everton as the unpredictable outliers.
