Pedro

@barcastuff: Pedro (27) has decided to join Chelsea, who will pay his 30M buyout fee. Had earlier rejected offers from Arsenal, Liverpool, PSG. [sport]

No idea how good a source he is.

Not sure how genuine this is considering the ban as someone else pointed out but I would love this signing. It's not like there are a lot of great wingers around at them moment. We could do a lot worse than Pedro and we have done in the past. 21m seems like a steal when you consider Raheem Sterling is valued at 50m.

It's all starting to get a bit silly when sections of our fanbase are kicking up a stink because they don't think Turan or Pedro arent good enough for Chelsea.

Only Pele will do. And even then as long as he doesn't encroach on playing time for Remy or Solanke!

So people aren't allowed to have an opinion?.

I would love this signing to happen! Very fast, hard working, two footed and has a very decent finish with both feet. I think he'd flourish with us.

They arent banned from selling or buying, just registering players. Everton have already signed one from them, and a few others have been transferred out.

Well of course everyone is. But I can't see anything wrong with this transfer of it happens. Staggered people would moan about signing a player who has won everything and has played consistently well at the very top level for a long time. But that's how it is these days I guess.

Yes but as FC pointed out, they have already lost Xavi and have a pretty thin squad as it is. It would make sense to hold onto Pedro (it's not like he was on the fringes either last season, he made 50 appearances) until they can actually register players. But then, if it is true that Barca have reduced his release clause to 21m, it would mean they are prepared to let him leave this summer.

Some of our fans are beginning to think we're on the same level as Madrid and Barcelona and deserve the worlds finest players. I suppose our success has gone to their heads but we really need to start coming back down to earth.

I have seen it on another forum where some of our fans are pissed we havent signed a big name yet, and then when we are linked with, for example, Charlie Austin (not a big name i know), they dont want him because theyd rather see Solanke play.  When we were linked with Witsel to replace Mikel, they wanted RLC in.  We all want to see the youth involved but to replace seasoned experienced players with kids will have us standing still. I am surprised no one has pleaded for Blackman over Begovic

Utd have surely got gifted young midfielders in their academy, but they've decided to spend money on 31 yr old Bastian Schweinsteiger because he improves them a hell of a lot more than acaemy product would right now.  Same for us. Pedro at £20m ish is a bargain potentially

EDIT: Sport newspaper are Barcelona based for whoever asked.  Those and Mundo Deportivo tend to break the news first, think Sport were more on the ball when it came to Turan though

There is a balance to strike, I would say that  we could get away without buying another center mid because we have Fabreags, and Matic and I'd like to see additional minutes go to RLC. We will also have Rami, who I personally don't rate but jose will fall back on him. Worst case scenario I immagine either Willian or Oscar could do a job there, Zouma stepping up as well. Basically its covered and we can give youth a chance.

But we clearly have a problems on the wings, Hazard being the main source of goals from there, there isn't any one currently in the youth team knocking on the door in that position and even if there was we don't have enough over there to just throw a kid in. Pedro is a pretty savi buy in my opinion, the same level of purcahse that fabragas was last season, if it comes of

Ah right, I thought you meant they aren't able to sell.

I've never particularly rated him. I'm not saying he's a bad player, obviously, but of the level required? Not for me.

Ask yourself this. Would you rather have Pedro, Cuadrado, Salah and Moses in the squad or a genuine, top notch right winger?

The money we spend all these wingers, why not just go out and buy a good one?

Edit: When I say a good one, I mean one that elevates us to the next level.

Imagin if we got both Pedro and Isco :

------------------Matic------------------

------Fabregas---------Isco----------

Pedro/Willian---Costa-------Hazard

Sell Cuadrado, Salah and Oscar for a profit.

such as?

If this happens then the turan signing makes more sense for barca. However a couple of things come to mind.

1. Did Pedro not have one year left on his deal at barca only to recently sign a new one? Would he have not been cheaper, a reported 9mill, before.

2. While he would replace Remy in terms on an option out wide right or left, as well as a number 10 option, are we saying we are happier with Pedro as our striker option is Costa's dodged hamstrings go again and falcao flops?

3. Are we not overfull on attacking midfield options already? Hazard has his position locked, Oscar is likely to start as the number 10 with a summer of rest behind him, and Jose loves willian. Then there is Bertrand, who is a cracking young player and deserve game time more than any of our other youth prospects imo, not to mention we still have cuadrado, salah and Moses on our books.

I know Moses and salah may get sold or loaned but surely if we get Pedro another one of the 5 needs to go, which would hopefully be cuadrado but at how big a ffp hit?

Tend to agree with Davey. The trouble is that there are few who could elevate us, Griezmann or arguably Sterling are the only two IMO, the latter I'm very skeptical about. Can't see Griezmann being sold with Turan recently shipped off.

Isco would be interesting and an upgrade over Oscar for me as the AMC. But he's no winger though that's for sure.

Isco played 15 games as left midfielder and 20 games as a central midielder last season for Real Madrid. He has the speed, dribbling and passing to be good in several positions, simillar to Hazard I would say.

Scores and assists goals, which was the main thing people wanted, great engine, works very hard for the team with his pressing and defending, can play both sides with ease, played at the highest of levels and still at a good age where we can get at least a few more years out of him.

I would be delighted if we signed him.

I'd rather have Pedro than Salah, Cuadrado and Moses.

We can't get a world class right winger since none are on the market, Pedro IMO is an upgrade in a weak area.

Would be a sensible and efficient deal if it comes off.
