Pedro

Featured Replies

would prefer pedro on the left, hazard central and willian or cuadrado on the rw (not that willian is that effective on that side). i think pedro would be more useful on the lw, though to be fair i haven't seen what he is capable of on the rw.

anyway, i don't like these premature youtube "welcome to" videos, but this is a decent video of his season past.

According to potential future barca sporting director Eric abidal it must not be allowed to happen.

well considering they cannot play any new signings until january, you think think it more logical to keep pedro until then.

The Barcelona coach, Luis Enrique, says does not want Pedro to leave but will respect whatever decision the Spain forward makes about his future.

Pedro, 27, revealed on Monday that the Spanish and European champions had received offers for him after agreeing to trim the size of his buyout clause and amid reports he is poised to join Chelsea.

A World Cup and European Championship winner with Spain, Pedro lost his place in the Barça starting lineup following the arrival of the Uruguay striker Luis Suárez last year.

Luis Enrique used Pedro mainly as a substitute last term and he came on in the Champions League final to set up Neymar to score the third goal in a 3-1 victory over Juventus.

“I don’t want anyone to leave but there is a clause,” Luis Enrique said. “We have to respect his decision.

“I do not deceive anyone and I do not guarantee anyone playing time. It will be his personal decision.”

Well that makes this sound even more likely. That's the kind of thing a manager says a couple of days before the player leaves.

Excited for this move if it happens. He is a legitimate goal scoring threat and would really balance us out. He is also a tenacious presser of the ball which I think bodes well for our play style.

i am getting excited about this potential signing, but there's always the chance he will say he won't be leaving barca so can't get ahead of myself quite yet. here is hoping it happens though.

He's got a release clause, if he wants to leave Barca can't stop him

If they'd wanted to keep him they surely wouldn't have lowered his release clause to a price makes him obtainable?

This is the big clue as to him moving on.

It's clear Pedro wants more game time and given the form of Barca's front 3 that isn't going to happen in the way he wants.

If he comes here he was Willian and Cuadrado to displace which I'm sure he will feel confident of doing especially since Willian was moved central by Jose at the tail end of the season.

All the noises are he is leaving but has a few clubs to choose from...hopefully the lure of Dave, Costa and especially Cesc will mean he wants to come here.

He's not a world class signing but he would be an hugely effective one IMO.

If we can get shot of Salah and Cuadrado while brining in Pedro with Moses as back up then that to me looks a better situation to be in.

He only has one year left. They knew he could sit it out, strike a deal in January for his new club, and leave for free.

If he wanted to leave this summer though, which he clearly does, the release clause in his contract was €150m.

Lowering his release clause suits both parties. He gets to leave this summer for a relatively small sum, which puts him in a stronger position choosing his club and negotiating his deal, and Barca get an acceptable fee for him rather than nothing.

That's my reading of it.

FWIW, I'm sure this one's happening, and it's an admission by Jose that Cuadrado's not up to it.

You get a feel for these transfers after a while. I never thought Pogba was happening or Griezmann but i believe we'll get Pedro, who is far more attainable of course.

He wouldn't be my first choice, not by any means, but I can understand why we'd want him.

Let me be the first to welcome you to Chelsea Pedro.

In the immortal words of our very own Zola ..

It's coming.

Well Barca fans watch him weekly. You'd have to generally be inclined to agree with their opinion on him. He didn't even play regularly last season, early on Munir was in good form, and that was before Suarez came back and cemented his place in the forward line.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't sign him, I'm just saying if Barca supporters think maybe he has declined or is a frustrating player, then we probably should expect the same.

Some of the things people say..don't you know if a player is frustrated at a club there is a good reason he moves, being the situation is frustrating him in the team, the system, the dressing room, the manager or whatever it may be, so why on earth would you expect "more of the same" in a new league, new team, new manager...,.think man, think. Pedro is a top class player period. The Madrid fans don't like bale would you refuse him too based on that?

Luis Enrique seems half arsed about him staying. "I'd like him to stay but he can go if someone pays the clause."

Pedro must know he isnt getting in that front 3 right now and a move is the best for him. Whether to us or not is another thing

Barcelona fans have had a decade of the best attacking / midfield players in the world. Xavi, Iniesta, Roladihno, Messi...

The same fans said Sanchez had declined and were happy to let him go.

this is why i feel pedro could well be as influential for us as sanchez was for arsenal last season. if pedro still "has it" then he could be great for us.

Agreed

Solid addition, and I think we'd sell someone if he were to come.  First I can think of is Moses and Salah, who between the two of them would probably cover the cost of bringing Pedro in.
