Chelsea vs. Swansea (PL) 08/08/15 KO 17:30 BST

First half I thought we were moving the ball well but lacked that spark in the final third. The team still look a little flat and that may come down to having such a short pre-season. JT was caught ball watching a number of times during the game and Iva looks suspect at RB coming up against pacey players.

Is it just me or does anyone else think Zouma should start getting the nod at CB? Interested to hear everyone's thoughts =)

You know what I find strange lads.

Is how Real Madrid won the Champions league the first year in JM's absence with a manager who previously managed Chelsea and was sacked.

Mmmm

And RDM won the CL at Chelsea when neither Carlo (how is he doing at RM these days, hmmm?) Or Jose could. Strange indeed, almost like it's an unpredictable sports competition or something.

What I found most strange, however, is that a gooner is coming to a Chelsea forum to talk sh*t about managers winning the CL. Well you mentioned two managers who've been successful at CFC and have the pedigree to of won multiple CL titles at multiple clubs and our club too has lifted the CL in victory. How about your club?

Oscar good, in contrast to others I just thought what an improvement when Costa plays.

Montero cut Ivan up,and Swansea had a couple of excellent chances before they scored. Was that bad Chelsea or good swansea? Bad Ivan or good montero? Too early to tell for me, but I do think Ivan is on shaky ground and we need more attack from the full backs.

Fabregas was well below his best. Fairly feeble in defence but his passing accuracy in the first hall was less than I expected, and yes we do need a decent long range striker.

We created very few clear cut chances despite being in promising positions.

Let them come and here and talk sh*t. They'll disappear soon enough. Anyone remember 2 seasons ago when Liverpool were on the verge of winning the league so they decided to come here and taunt us, but after *that* game they quickly crawled back to their holes and haven't been sen since

Still can't see how Tibo was sent off. Watched it about 5 times and Cahill was close enough to consider he'd be a factor in defending the chance.

The ref was a lucky f**ker in the pen call too...centimetres further back and it's a free kick.

Okay, we drew against a reasonably good and up for it Swansea side.

They could easily have taken the lead in the first few minutes and made a good game of it.

If they (and others) play like that a lot of the 'big' teams will drop points to them this season.

Hope Jose sorts it out, but it does look like we need something to give us a spark. Not looked at the stats but guess our shots on target number was less than theirs, which is not good.

First game and all that, next week at Citeh will be interesting

I had hoped the quality of reffing would have been under scrutiny, but all I've heard so far is about players not being allowed to crowd the ref. Funnily enough if refs were better I think players wouldn't need to approach them.

I dont think it should have been red, but a penalty no doubt. (even though he hardly touched Gomis) He didnt flick it toward goal and Cahill was there in the box as well. Compare that to Ospina on Oscar last season

3 for us, 10 for them. That many at the bridge hasn't happened for quite some time I think.

I thought he got both decisions right, if that was a centre back that made the foul, and gomis still had the keeper to beat, it would still be straight red.

It has to be a clear goal scoring opportunity because there isn't even a keeper there.

Courtois is effectively the last man, if Courtois hadn't made contact gomis would have gotten to the ball before cahill with a shot an empty net.

Just find the defence very unbalanced, think if we played Aspi at RB and got a new LB we would look a lot more positive both defensively and going forward. As much as Ivan as been a fantastic player for Chelsea over the years I think he's really starting to struggle at RB

Agreed. He can't cross a ball to save his life and offers nothing going forward. However he;s a great player to have for corners.

Swansea totally deserved a point, arguably even more ...

Big positive ... our new goalie looks superb !!!

Fingers crossed, I do hope Jose stops showing complete favouritism towards his preferred 11 every time, despite performances ...

I feel we won't get away with it this time around ...

So one game in and people saying we wont win the league lol

I was saying it before the first game.

We won't win it, but we still played some lovely stuff at times out there yesterday, I'm looking forward to a season where we can relax and enjoy the football without worrying too much about the title, top 3 will do me.

Sorry about my posts on here yesterday guys.

I'm not much of a drinker these days, but went to Poole Town with a group of lads yesterday, where the game was delayed for an hour, and I guess things must have got out of hand.

Half expected to see I had been banned when I logged on, I'm obviously not an aggressive drunk, not at all, I'm usually more chatty than ever, I just got a bit

wound up by that result.

montero reminded me of a latin damien duff...even tucks his shirt in like DD did, really awesome performance...made ivanovic look like an amateur

he ran Ivan ragged yesterday, great little player

Costa's pen appeal not even mentioned on MOTD, despite LeSaux on Sky saying it should have been given. Also no climb down from Lineker after bad mouthing Ranieri since his appointment.

^^ this

Which begs the question, why didn't the club hold on to Filipe Luis until a deal for a new LB had been agreed? As you say Dave was better suited to dealing with Montero yesterday (and had he played RB I think we'd have 3 points in the bag).

Furthermore Jose must have known Montero is a pacey left winger... and yet Willian was nowhere to be seen (for Swansea's equaliser).

Bemused and baffled.

Tibo isn't the last man because at the point of contact Cahill is closer to our goal than he is, close to the incident too. Add that to the fact the touch past the keeper was at an angle and pace that was moving the ball away from goal which would have meant having a bit of work to do, wasn't going to be a simple tap in for the striker.

A keeper not being there isn't really the deciding factor, it's where the ball is and the possibility of the striker being able to score before a defender can intervene.
