September 12, 201510 yr Closer to 100 million from reports. Looks like it would've been money well spent from where I'm sitting. Yeah because we needed to spend £100 million to have more points than Norwich after 5 games.
September 12, 201510 yr We had 2 shots on target today. 2 All the focus is on how sh*t our defence is, and rightly so because it is, but we are bloody awful going forward as well. Can't argue with that. Having no real alternative to Costa is only part of the problem though. Everton, or should I say Naismith, took their chances. When we were 2-1 down, Terry had a decent chance from a header over the bar, and on a breakaway Costa dallied around when he should've shot. Thought we should've scored from either chance but it's tough when you create so little. Thought our set-pieces were average and don't recall Ivanovic getting a cross in, no matter how often he tried. Even so, the fact that Costa was often found deep and even crossing on one occasion, tells you something ain't right. My own feeling is that it's midfield where we're really paying the price for a lack of quality. No cover, no attacking threat, no pace. Just getting sliced open every time. No wonder our defence is taking so many hits and our forward players are getting no support. Doesn't help when so much of our attacking play passes through Ivanovic, a converted centre-back. For how much longer though? Edited September 12, 201510 yr by Socrates
September 12, 201510 yr Well this was depressing. i didn't see the game, but who were the worst culprits? following this team can be stressful at times, even more so at the moment lol. it's a really weird season at the moment because no team apart from city are helping their cause. even arsenal and utd don't look overly impressive but they are grinding out results - that's what we used to do! September 12, 201510 yr from champs to chumps. seem to remember this happening before, not that long ago
September 12, 201510 yr We must have had at least 15 corners today and we didn't look even close to scoring with most, Appalling considering how we used to permanently destroy the oppo on set plays. Hate to heap on the fella but Ivan has to spend some time on the Judy Dench, the whole moonwalk with his hands tied behind his back is driving me to drink. Would have much rather have seen RLC in place of Mikel also as has a bit more to offer going forward and legs to boot, Mikel has the experience? yeah definitely but How does the kid get any sitting on his arse every week.
September 12, 201510 yr however saying that, always rated naismith he's a gritty little fecker who causes trouble all the time. i would have him in this team because he's got balls and fight. we need some of that scottish spirit in this team right now.
September 12, 201510 yr Jose' has shown his respect and loyalty to players who this season so far have not deserved it, change it, blood some players, Show some fight & work on the training field, C'mon Chels.
September 12, 201510 yr Kenedy looked a little raw but was busy. wasn't helped by how stagnant we get with 20 yards out when Everton had bodies back, I guess what I'm saying is the lack of movement by others didn't help him.
September 12, 201510 yr How did Falcao and Kenedy look when they came on? Signs of promise? Both awful

Might want to see how he's played for Scotland of late before asking for that Didn't watch the game today and pretty glad I didn't. What the f**k is happening to us?!
September 12, 201510 yr if we don't win our next 2 games (especially if we lose at home to Arsenal) Jose could be heading for the exit. He must change something. The time to build a dynasty is right now, if he doesn't start to shake things up Ivan and co. will screw it all up for him. Jose picks the team - he's got to think again.
September 12, 201510 yr Who did? I didnt see much .... but please dont say stop asking questions? Blind following, there is a name for that...a cult, I am a huge jose fan but I would retort to those who wont question him that putting a man over the club isn't the actions of a true fan, jose was the Real Madrid manager not too long ago, chelsea was always chelsea
September 12, 201510 yr I smell relegation battle if we play like that. Chelsea looks more like championship team rather than defending PL champions. I can't understand what happened to Jose. He's the master of tactician but it seemed he didn't have any plan B or C. It seems he is making same mistakes and his post match interview frightens me. We deserve more? I don't think so. We were clearly outmatched.

The time to build a dynasty is right now, if he doesn't start to shake things up Ivan and co. will screw it all up for him. Jose picks the team - he's got to think again. Problem that Jose has is that he wants to win our next two games as well but he doesn't think that bringing in fringe squad players is going to make that more likely. That's why he'd rather resort to the tried and tested. Even if that isn't exactly working. It's a Catch-22. We go on playing badly and losing, so we need to win our next games but Jose can't risk it with untried squad players he doesn't think are ready or good enough. Best we can hope for are a couple of tactical tweaks. Maybe Azpi switching to right back to take Ivanovic out of the equation. Maybe Oscar will make a difference in midfield and then just hope that Hazard and Costa regain their form. Edited September 12, 201510 yr by Socrates
September 12, 201510 yr Missed the game today as i was scattering dads ashes off Southend pier (he liked it there)Thought it would be a tough game.Oh well life goes on.

September 12, 201510 yr I am fine thanks.Dad had a long and happy life. Sorry to hear about your loss, mate. It kind of puts football and all the melodrama and complaints of us fans in perspective.
September 12, 201510 yr I really hope the team get together now and talk out what the problem is, i think only the players have the real answer to this. They just dont look like they are enjoying what they are doing, they dont look like they want to be there. I do wonder if they dont like Jose. They play unhappy and they need to work out why. I think its more now than just lacking motivation, they look literally depressed. The players have lost their character, their spark is gone. Edited September 12, 201510 yr by Viper
September 12, 201510 yr It is down to the players - they've stopped putting in the work that made them Champions. The MOTD analysis was spot on. Far too much space and time for Everton players and far too slow and hesitant in attack.
September 12, 201510 yr I have to say that rewatching the highlights I'd say this is the worse we've played consistently since AVB. But Jose is the best manager in the world for a reason and I trust him to get us back on course.
September 12, 201510 yr MOTD- Shearer slated our attack and said we were awful, and in the same breath he then goes into depth on how Stones had a terrific game. Edited September 12, 201510 yr by coco
