November 11, 201510 yr Played Fallout 3 very briefly, it was okay nothing great. Played New Vegas and it was pretty average. Not sure what to expect from Fallout 4. Edited November 11, 201510 yr by Remodez
November 11, 201510 yr Kinda came out of nowhere, game was announced on June 3rd and came out 5 months later. Refreshing change from games announced that take over a year or even 2 years to actually come out Yeah, looks like they only announced it when they knew it would be ready soon. Much better than announcing a game two years in advance with the obligatory pushing back the release date six months.
November 11, 201510 yr Author Do I need to have played previous fallout games? I hope not. Hoping to get it from Game today and I haven't! I've certainly heard you don't need to. You don't have to play the previous Fallout games to play this. You'll be playing as a brand new protagonist by the way. You'll also be playing in post-apocalyptic Boston, a brand new map in the Fallout series. Kinda came out of nowhere, game was announced on June 3rd and came out 5 months later. Refreshing change from games announced that take over a year or even 2 years to actually come out Exactly. They were able to live up to the hype too. Edited November 11, 201510 yr by Zinc
November 11, 201510 yr How's everyone enjoying it then? Not had much feedback here! What types of character are people building?
November 11, 201510 yr Enjoying it at the moment finding it difficult though! Radiation at the start of the game seems to be the main problem taken about 60% of my health lol.

November 11, 201510 yr Bought it from Game! Traded in Dying Light, Ryse, Wolfenstein and Far Cry 4 for it. Each one of those beat the CEX price by £1. Installing now.

November 11, 201510 yr Desperate to get this but waiting until I've completed MGS. I'm on mission 32 of 43. Having a baby and wife really does slow you down (not that I'm complaining).
November 11, 201510 yr See you in the Wasteland, Rich. Only after spending far too much time trying to make my character look like me before giving up. Happens in every game.
November 11, 201510 yr So what did everyone name their character? I called mine Shooter McGavin. Going with a high charisma build so that I can open up all the dialogue paths.
November 11, 201510 yr Spent a few hours building my minute men a decent base. Really like that feature. Not to sound like a pussy, but this version is much harder than Fallout 3 / New Vegas. Frigging Radscorpions are OP. Going for a Charisma / Intelligence / Agility build. I like my small guns and sniper rifles.
November 11, 201510 yr Going to get it. For sure. it's one of the few games I still get excited about (maybe not to buying an actual Pip Boy level) but I do love the games. I remember finding that Deathclaw sanctuary too....I remember the first time I met a Deathclaw in a sewer under Washington DC. I usually love a solid sniper rifle, and then charisma is great as it gives you extra options for conversation that can reap rewards earlier. I have a birthday soon, and have been dropping hints (but I'm also in the market for a smoker, and the one I'm looking at isn't cheap, so who knows) Does anyone know what Games places are giving for PS3 trade ins, or is it even worth trying? Oh, and like the others have metnioned on here...I like to start the story line and then go adventuring. IN Fact, when I played Fallout 3 that was a gripe I had. I followed the story line and had plans on exploring...then the next thing I knew it was over and I hadn't done any side missions or adventuring and started it all over again. November 11, 201510 yr Has pretty bad user reviews. With user reviews I mainly use Amazon because the reviewers don't tend to have vested interests in a games success or otherwise, and it's being almost universally praised there. Edited November 11, 201510 yr by RichardCFC
November 11, 201510 yr I'm in the perk tree but I can't work out how to actually get/assign perks? I was under the impression that, as I gave myself 3 strength for instance, I could assign 3 strength perks? Edited November 11, 201510 yr by RichardCFC
November 11, 201510 yr I'm in the perk tree but I can't work out how to actually get/assign perks? I was under the impression that, as I gave myself 3 strength for instance, I could assign 3 strength perks? No with 3 strength you can invest the first three strength perks but each perk can have different levels. So for example with I think intelligence level 3 I can upgrade my lock picking skills. But the lock pick skill itself can be upgraded three times to allow me to pick more complex locks (novice, intermediate, hard).
November 11, 201510 yr Has pretty bad user reviews. Where are you reading the reviews? If the internet has taught me anything the internet community will piss and moan about everything, especially if it's popular.
November 12, 201510 yr Where are you reading the reviews? If the internet has taught me anything the internet community will piss and moan about everything, especially if it's popular. A lot of people on metacritic seem to hate it. I don't really think they are trolls either, they have really gone into detail about why they dislike the game.
November 12, 201510 yr Metacritic trolls. You're an idiot if you rely on user reviews to gauge how successful a game is.
November 12, 201510 yr Lets not pretend like Bethesda games don't have their fair share of bugs. Some people have genuinely encountered game breaking bugs.
November 12, 201510 yr Author Sadly, that's true. Bethesda games are usually riddled with bugs when first launched. That's why people are increasingly hesitant in pre-ordering. But that's understandable as bugs are inevitable in big (as in content) games nowadays. One can argue that they should've done better with their pre-launch quality checks though. Having said that, Bethesda does have a history of developing patches and updates within a short space of time. They're generally helpful and responsive in their support forums too. Okay so with the 3 strength I gave myself, the first three perks on that tree are available. But how do I get them? Or do I have to wait to be a higher level? As of level one which I'm currently at, I can't seem to get any perks. I'm sort of confused as to whether the 3 strength is an advantage in itself. Basically, does that "3" do anything, such as give a built in ability to carry more, or does it just unlock the first 3 perks?

Basically, does that "3" do anything, such as give a built in ability to carry more, or does it just unlock the first 3 perks? It does both. You increase the effects of strength by being able to carry more but also opening up more of the strength skill tree perks. You then have to invest skill points directly into the skills that you want to unlock/improve.
