Who to buy in the next transfer window and who to sell ?

Featured Replies

I'm far from convinced that splurging big in the January window will get us out of the mire. Players brought in from abroad have a really poor record in the six months after the window ,needing this period to acclimatise. So that leaves us with the seasoned British player, used to moving around, who does a short term job but ultimately lowers the quality of the squad.

I'm not sure what we can do in january. I think a centre midfielder is probably the most important area to strengthen at the moment.

I think it's going to be hard to attract the very best players in january, especially in our current situation.

I'm not sure of who could come in and have an immediate influence.

Wish we could be like Athletico Madrid or what United did with Martial. Scout some hidden gems instead of the big names.

We have though - traore and kenedy, both ypung and talented. I think traore has a massive ceiling, but what's the point if he never has trust shown in him.

pogba is probably the only one that can really take us to the next level if we fork out a massive fee.

He really won't take us to another level. He hasn't even developed enough to be world class. He is fringe world class if anything but the jury is still out. I would rather us stick with RLC. The only thing pogba could potentially give us is long range shots/goals, but he's not exactly prolific at those.

I think we need to set our sights a little lower than pogba and koke etc. We couldn't sign them in the summer as prem champions, so I think it's impossible to sign them now champions league football is looking unlikely for next season.

If we could get falcao off the books in january, I think berahino could be a good signing as well as wanyama.

Seems a few are concerned about us spending big money in January. Some in terms of the quality we can bring in, others in terms of the actual money spent.

In the case of the former, players like Anelka, Luiz, Cahill and Brana are some examples of January deals that really worked out well for us. While yes we also bought Torres in that time in cannot be doubted that the 4 players I mentioned there have played a big part in the success we had after they came in. While two have left and the other two are nearing the end of the time at Chelsea they all did a good job overall.

In terms of money spent, if we ignore the fact Roman can write it of, that FFP has little meaning now and has no meaning at all if you are not in the CL, as we are not likely to be next season, then we can look at it in terms of raising the funds to spend.

We already know Roma have taken up their option on Salah, a reported 11mill fee. We also hear Juve are trying to close a deal for Cuadrado, worth around 16mill. Add to those two a number of options of players we could move on to raise extra money from our loan list of under performing players:

Cahill - 5mill

Baba - 14mill

Matic - 12mill

Ramires - 10mill

Mikel - 7mill

Pedro - 14mill

Cesc - 15mill

Remy - 9mill

Oscar - 16mill

Moses - 8mill

Hazard - 50mill

Costa - 12mill

Trying to low ball their prices.

Certainly not saying sell them but if your main concern is not spending additional money you have options, add that two the other lads already heading out and you can have a 40mill or more fund to use. All without asking for extra money from Roman.

We should have raided Marseille in the summer. Payet (West Ham) Ayew (Swansea) Gignac (some mexican outfit) would all have been decent acquisitions.

Benzema from Real would be a good striker and why not make a bid for Bale at the same time to give us a wide option?

I think you succeeded.  Certainly would not be happy if thats what we got for many of those players.

Wanyama, Kouyate or Song. Not pretty but effective.

We need a 10 aswell, Tadic maybe?

A striker, not many who could do a job, Charlie Austin? Pelle?

We will have to buy from English teams so we acquire players familiar with the league.

RLC would be a better option than any of them. It's time we trusted our own. Title and top four look like a pipe dream now so why not just try to get to 50 points and use the season to blood the youngsters by giving them extended run in the team. Who knows one or two of them may actually come good for next season.

We need to go all out for Sadio Mané, John Stones, Griezmann and Ross Barkley.

You forgot your Andy Carroll.

Get Vardy, Mahrez and Albrighton.

And Ranieri to replace Jose.

On a serious note, I would like a starting LB and maybe a CM if Jose is not going to give RLC a chance. Some proper competition for Costa would be nice too.
