I agree we should just put faith in rlc, aina, christiensen, and bamford, but that will most likely never happen.

You only have to at the left back situation to see how crazy our policy van be at times. We didn't give bertrand enough opportunity to want to stick around, so we replaced him with a top left back, we barely started, and was subsequently sold a year later. Meanwhile we have ake coming through and instead of giving him a shot, we loan him out and buy a left back the same age!

If we had put faith in bertrand and ake, we would have been set at left back for a long time.

As it is, I doubt ake, or rahman will be at the club in 2 seasons time.

Andy would be a luxury buy. The other names I mentioned should be attainable.

Scores goals quite consistently, has a couple of elements to his game, is certainly passionate about his current club and if we gave him the backing I think he could do quite well for us.  Not sure Mourinho would be a fan though

One gets the feeling Bale will come back to England eventually and I'd rather him play for us than anyone else.

I think Jose has screwed up our recruitment policy big time due to his short-terism & lack of rotation, hypothetically if he was fired today, the next manager would need a season or two to fix it.

Take our forward options for example, he sold/loaned/released all of Torres, Eto o & Ba in his first year, brought in Drogba, Remy, Costa in the 2nd year, released Drogba in the 3rd & brought in Falcao. Depending on who you ask we either need 2/3 new forwards in the summer. He hardly rotates his front option so any two of the three will probably want out again the summer after, however if you ask Jose he is giving his options ample game time by playing 2 upfront towards the end of most games. Issue is he never sets the team up well enough to play two on top, and we have no winger in the squad to make it effective. It is a mess.

Im agree about the younger players 100%.

To be fair Ake doesnt have the upside Baba does. While Ake is a perfectly adequate LB for most teams we dont have, shouldnt have, room for adequate players in our first team. This is sort of like buying Costa when we had Lukaku as well.

Every team in the league has money to spend so its going to be alot harder keeping good young players around on the bench, KDB, Lukaku, Bert. Are Everton paying nearly 30m for someone like Lukaku 3 or 4 years ago? The players now realize they can earn good money elsewhere and actually play regularly.

Sell Hazard as he would demand a top fee. Use the money wisely to build a strong young team. Hazard may become a world class player but he won't do it in the PL, it's just too hard. Spain would probably be perfect.

I just hope that if Jose asks for a forward and a defensive midfielder that Michael Emenalo doesn't reach for the last page of his spreadsheet and bring in another Papy Djlinobody.

I still can't understand that Papy signing, or Hector. Was it a joke? What the f**k were the club thinking? We needed to strengthen to keep up the title challenge, so they wait until deadline day and sign 2 people no-one has ever heard of.

If the club back Jose all the way in the summer I'd plow on with what we have, top 4 is all but gone IMO, I just dont think we'll put a run together that will bring us back in touch with the chasing pack.

I'd sell the deadwood, guys like Marin, Moses, Piazon etc

I disagree, I think our January signings have generally worked out well. Ivanovic, anelka, cahill, matic, zouma, and to an extent Luiz were all good buys.

Obviously cuadrado, salah, and torres didn't work out, but I wouldn't say the hit/miss ratio is any worse than in the summer.

They won't be sold so soon. Even if that happened, we'd need to buy at least 2 players to replace them.

 

A quality striker won't be enough to make up the numbers.

I am of the feeling, at this point, that we'll probably make a couple of panic buys.  However, I'd much rather we were focused (as Jose has stated) on bringing some of the young lads into the team to prove their worth this season

This window has all the hallmarks of a desperate one for CFC, not the best foundation for sound investments, especially not in our club! Before talking about who to buy, the main interesting thing will be whether RM or PSG have a sniff at Hazard and whether the club can/will ignore a 80m-to-100m bid. The fact that we're floating around in the lower end of the PL will solidify their efforts as will the fact that Hazard has already won the PL now, and will be unlikely, in the short run at least, to win the CL with us. 

 

I can see Ivan leaving us to be honest, although he won't command a massive sum of money. 

 

To be honest, I don't really follow international football enough to be able to spot the TRULY good signings, but I do rate Higuain! Also, Josh Stones would be great, but I fear we will do something stupid here, as in +50M stupid! I also think 80m-to-90m for Pogba would be silly, but as I said ... I could be wrong. Maybe he IS really the sh't. 

 

I don't think we should sell Costa or Fabregas ... they still have a higher level in them I feel, and I honestly don't think we could replace them right now (assuming they bounce back). I hope we don't get rid of Oscar either, although I can see that his role in the team is not what he would want it to be. Unlike Mata, though, who didn't work hard enough for JM, he does have a high work rate. On our midfield, I am really desperate to see RLC getting a run, because I think he could be a new Yara Toure type player. 

If Jose lasts until January this window will be a huge insight as to how he wants to operate. If he wants to buy a few players and move the young guys we have down the pecking order we can probably write off the notion he's willing to give our young players a chance.
