Van Butsen Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Rare sight midweek with Cesc being taken off. Evidently one of the first names in Jose's squads at the moment, but I wonder if that signals he may be the next one rotated out as we look to rediscover form. Hoping for/half expecting to see: Begovic Zouma Cahill Terry Azpilicueta Ramires Matic Oscar Hazard Willian Costa Surely it was more of a 'one eye on the weekend game' substitution. Not sure if Mourinho will stick with Zouma at RB.. be interesting to see. Bilic softening up Mourinho mid week is a good omen, I think Mourinho will want to go out and wack this mob and say something along the lines of "It's just business Slaven"
wallosh Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Start the same team we put out against VillaBilic will certainly take advantage of Baba. So the team that played at Kiev is better and atleast can guarantee we wont concede a goal
drjonesy1994 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Bilic will certainly take advantage of Baba. So the team that played at Kiev is better and atleast can guarantee we wont concede a goal bit naïve - no team we put out can "guarantee" we wont concede a goal.
BenCFC19 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 I'd be surprised if Hazard starts, in a game like this I don't think we'll get as much discipline from him so I expect it to be Fabregas Willian and Pedro in the front three, with Ramires and Matic in the pivot because of how well they played together against Kyiv. If we want to achieve anything this season we have to be in title winning form from now until the end, a win here is crucial
Scott Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Chim Chiminy chim chim churro we hate those bast**ds in claret and blue. :blue scalf:
mez Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Bilic has come out in support of JM. So many devious manipulative journos and ex players who all hate CFC and JM with a vengeance that I personally find this refreshing. Respect! Oh and by the way, come on Chelsea you can beat them!!!! Quote from the article in The Mail. Bilic added: 'The most successful people, the most charismatic people, the No 1s, they are always polarising people. 'You love them or hate them. If we’re talking about Mourinho, I don’t know the percentage of people who adore him or don’t like him. 'But there’s no chance you don’t respect him and all that he has done. His cv is unbelievable. It’s the best. I’m not lying or twisting words. I didn’t prepare myself. I really mean it. 'You can’t lose charisma, especially not him. Of course he is not the same after a couple of defeats. 'But he didn’t lose it. He is the same as the day we saw him on the telly when Porto got a big win at Old Trafford.' Mez

Zinc Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) Alright, here's Jose's presser for this game. Sounds like Pedro and Remy will still be out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A59tL8J2G1Y Come on lads, let's beat them tomorrow! Edited October 23, 2015 by Zinc
dan_cfc Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 I think Zouma will start at RB again, Jose will want his height from set pieces as they have a few big lads in there side. We are playing with a lot more confidence now and surely it is only a matter of time til we kick on and start smashing teams again hopefully it starts with the pikeys! Come on Chelsea!!!!
PedroMendez Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) With the injuries to Courtois, Pedro and Remy, pretty much guarantee a few positions in the squad. So we can be pretty sure that all of Begovic, Willian, Hazard and Costa are going to start. We also have a few players in form who are very likely to start with Azpi nailed on either at RB or LB and Matic and Ramires in the centre being very likely. With that in mind who do you think gets the nod at full back Baba or Zouma? as these seem like the most likely choicesAnd if you chose Baba who'd be your starting Cb's?the other position which hasn't been nailed down as of yet seems to be the advanced central midfielder, With either Fabregas , Oscar or RLC as a long shot to play the role. who would your pick be?My selection would be - Begovic -Azpi - Zouma - Terry - Baba Ramires - MaticWillian - Oscar - Hazard - Costa -I'd chose Baba at LB Purely because Moses can't play and therefore they shouldn't be as much of a threat on the right, so hopefully he won't be overly exposed, and as good as Fabregas is at picking out a brilliant pass and his form has been looking better of late, Oscar offers more on the press which I think will be needed if we are to dominate the game.Since I have chosen Baba I would ask Matic to make sure he is there to provide the extra cover Baba needs especially if he is looking as shaky as his last outing or even if he is lined up by Payet. This will be essential as we all no Hazard isn't the best at tracking back and I'd like him to be a threat on the counter. Also hazing the quite defensive midfield partnership of Ramires and Matic should take away the space in which their most inform players Payet and Lanzini like to exploit.I also believe that Noble and in particular Kouyate despite being a physical beast might be susceptible to giving the ball away if we play with a high press due to there lack of technical ability so I'm hoping players like Oscar and Willian press hard and high up the pitch which should allows us to win the ball high up the pitch and give us a great platform. And the midfield selection allows this to be implemented as Fabregas and RLC aren't as suited to this style of play. Both teams play with physical strikers. The Hammers have either Sakho or Caroll there as there main target man so for this reason I'd prefer a Cb pair of Terry and Zouma both should be able compete physically and in the air and not give anything away in this area. Costa should have the physical edge against Collins and Tomkins and thus should be a dominating force in the game and I'm expecting a big performance from him.Despite being in a lofty spot in the table the form of the Hammers has dipped of late with draws to a ten man Sunderland, needing a last minute equaliser against struggling Norwich and before that losing to Leicester, the only positive result recently was against a 10 man Crystal Palace so hopefully there dip continues on Saturday. Are team Certaintly has the ability to do so and we should have the ability to be better in all areas of the pitch and thus I'm predicting a positive result. But we all know football isn't that simple and it won't necessarily pan out this way. Edited October 23, 2015 by PedroMendez
Van Butsen Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 There's no chance he'll leave out Cesc IMO
Chelsbear Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 - Begovic - Zouma - Cahill - Terry - Azpi Ramires - Matic Willian - Cesc - Hazard - Costa - Think that's a stick on. No what I'd pick though
PedroMendez Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Yeah I don't expect to see Oscar and think its unlikely we see Baba in the team. Oscar really doesn't seem to be in Jose good books at the moment so I really can't see it happening as much as I'd like it too.

This is a little bit off topic, and maybe already discussed but here goes. Opening day, Oscar scores from a free kick that was meant to be a cross.. turns to celebrate the bench.. obviously sees something he doesn't like and throws his fist in that direction. Hardly seemed to celebrate. Feel like it was between him and Mourinho and ever since he's been on the outter? He's always subbed first
mad_mac Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Press conference was pretty morbid. He has basically said to the press "if you're going to try and attack m personally, and invade my private life, then you've changed the relationship we have." Can't say I blame him, to be honest

IliyaKrostin Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Sadly I'm going to miss the game, I really hope our boys will do the job.
Floyd25 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) I just hope that Jose doesn't sneeze in the direction of the referee, or I fear a heavy fine will be handed out by the Arsenal fans at the FA. In all seriousness, as much as I'm fed up with the corruption in the FA and the media, I think we may have turned a corner and we will hopefully start to kick on. Edited October 23, 2015 by Floyd25
rahul Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 "Want to win, but cannot lose" Our current full back options heavily weigh on the above dilemma. To remain solid (Azpi at LB and Zouma at RB) we'd have to forego a lot of attacking threat from the wide areas (neither of them would venture too far forward) making us really narrow and easy for teams to sit tight and choke us through the middle. The other option is more attacking (Azpi at RB and Baba at LB) but then defensive solidity goes for a toss (given Baba's iffy performance last week which gave a glimpse into the reason for Jose's reluctance to pick him more often). Knowing Jose, I think we'll see the first option taken. Apart from this, I guess Fabregas will always start (no width from full backs means it's necessary to have a player of his quality to pick passes/through balls through the centre). However, I'd love to see RLC start ahead of Cesc and play a number 10 with Matic sweeping behind him. He did quite well in that role for the half that he got to play (although, admittedly, he was supposed to be doing something else). I'm hoping for a strong performance and for Hazard to finally get a lucky break. Poor lad has been quite unlucky (apart from slightly terrible) in front of the goal.
evissy Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 A win for us would be a surprise. That is how low we are...hoping for a good performance.
coco Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Is this the last ever away league game for us at Upton Park ?
