I would be inclined to start Tammy more when Willian/Pedro start on the flanks and likewise Odoi and Pulisic when Giroud starts. Not getting fooled by Giroud’s exploits against mostly championship level teams in Europa, he is pants and shouldn’t be anywhere near starting for a team ambitious to remain in the top 4.

I think that's harsh. He scored and had two assists in the final. Deserves to start the year as first choice. I think Tammy and Michy should also be in the squad and given a shot in Lampard's system. Both might save us a lot of money next summer.

As I see us playing more with through balls, long balls and more playing game in the air, Abraham and Giroud are great options. This would be his real chance, he has been working hard, give it to Tammy! We don't even have a coach yet. How are you thinking we will be playing more through balls? Do you have any better chances of playing without Hazard and world class attacking players?

Should a player with 5pl goals in 40 appearances in the last 1.5 seasons really be starting for us? That is a goal every 288mins (3+ games). Somehow we have exercised an extra year option, and we are paying £120k/w. That is madness! For me personally ban or no ban should have thanked him & wished him well at the end of this last season. For all this talk of teams being after him, they were Ligue 1 teams.

We will likely play 50 plus games this season. Our options are pretty thin and we can't sign anyone. Giroud deserves to start based on his Europa League work. Tammy or Michy may well replace him in that role at some stage depending on their form but neither have done enough to say they deserve to start ahead of him. I think we can both agree that we'll need a new striker in 12 months time when the ban is lifted.

Tammy we don't really know about at our level but he deserves a chance. Michy in my mind is a great finisher but struggles in other areas that have previously been crucial. If Frank wants his strikers to be more about finishing and less of a fulcrum then there is a chance he could do well.

In some ways if we played a traditional 2 Giroud would be an ideal partner for michy I reckon.

I wonder how they'd get on ? I'd certainly give Abraham a go ... seems to have good movement to me ... and a knack of being in the right place at the right time. Relegated.
June 24, 20197 yr @RIP Mourinho no hope at all for the youngsters ? I think some will become 1st team players this season
June 24, 20197 yr Quote “This year is the most important year for us. It is now or never,” said the striker who scored 25 goals for Villa this season. “There will never be a better time to play the youngsters. Of course the transfer ban is probably not what the club wanted but for us it is exciting. I am excited and I am sure the rest of the players are. “There is a great chance for us young players so we must get our heads down in training and go for it at Chelsea. I have already been talking to the club about pre-season. I’m going to have a couple of weeks and then come back hitting the ground running. There is no better time for a young player to be at Chelsea. I am going to give it my all. With a new manager coming in there is no better time to show what I am made of in pre-season. I am just buzzing at the thought of the new season.” “Maybe it will change. Hopefully. Chelsea has always had a great academy. They have lacked playing them and taking them to the next level. You see the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who on the borderline have done that. We have excellent players still there and coming through who are still Chelsea players so fingers crossed if it all goes well it changes the mindset. I got thousands of messages from Chelsea fans on Instagram saying play him, play him. It is nice to have that behind you, knowing the supporters have your back. They believe in you as well. Clearly I was doing something right. Fingers crossed it all happens.” “I believe in myself and there is no better guy to play under as well,” the striker said. “Someone you have grown up watching, who has been at Chelsea for ever. He knows about me as well – I played against his team in the play-off final. I am pretty sure he knows all about me. And Jody as well. I have obviously been coached by Jody in the younger age groups. So it is positive, it is all positive.” https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jun/23/tammy-abraham-chelsea-transfer-ban-frank-lampard-england-under21s

You keep referring to the Europa league final but keep forgetting he has scored 1 league goal in the 2nd half of the season against Brighton. Fun Fact Batshuayi equalled his total PL goals scored for us in 1.5yrs in 1/2 a season with Crystal Palace. We are definitely not keeping 3 forwards on our books this season even with 50 games, no club has 3 forwards (Liverpool only kept Sturridge as no one wanted to take on his wages). It will be interesting to see what Lamps decides to do, but with Hazard’s goals out of the equation we can’t afford to keep a No 9 who doesn’t score goals.

Look I'm not going to argue Giroud has been exceptional but he played a big role in winning us a trophy, in a situation where we can't buy a new striker, that will be enough to start. The lack of Hazard's goals will mean we will ceratinly start with three strikers although I imagine one will leave in Jan. It's really a question of who performs best to see who can claim the spot.

From some of the articles I've read about Derby's tactics this season - I didn't actually see them play other than the playoff final against Villa - it sounds like they send in a lot of crosses and get people into the box. That would be ideal for Tammy and Michy being that they aren't the most technical players but can finish in the box.
