July 24, 20196 yr Judging by that pic, he really enjoyed that goal! Edited July 24, 20196 yr by Old Shaggy

Abraham and Michy are both pretty ordinary on the ball and don't link up as well with other players. From what I've observed they also aren't great without the ball at leading the press which is key for a striker these days. Giroud isn't perfect and his finishing isn't always great but he does the other things well. In a season where I don't think we're going to create mountains of chances for a striker, doing the other stuff is important. Tammy may grow into that and take over at some stage but he's not there yet for me. Tammy really impressed me against Barca. He led the press brilliantly, better than I've ever seen from Giroud. Being a lot faster and younger surely helps with this. I was also really impressed with his first touch and how he held up the ball. He was very strong and the ball just stuck to him. I like Giroud and think he's underrated, but I'd rather give Tammy a chance because he could end up being a star.
July 24, 20196 yr Big statement to give Tammy the number 9 shirt. Hopefully he's going to get plenty of minutes this season. He's got a massive opportunity to establish himself as part of the first team squad for the foreseeable future.

Would be great to see how he does.... always gives us the option of lumping on Giroud for the last 10/15 mins if needed
July 24, 20196 yr It sounds like he's got the right mentality. I'm not sure he's got the required talent, though.
July 24, 20196 yr He needs maybe a bit more weight in order to be dominant.Lukaku got the same advice last summer, he still hasn't stopped eating.
July 24, 20196 yr People gloss over the fact that apart from a couple of seasons, Drogba was hardly prolific ... in 7 out of his 9 seasons with us his return from all competitions was 16 goals or less ... I can't see any reason why Tammy couldn't match or better that ...

It certainly looks like he is staying having been given 9 so he will get a chance.

In all seriousness Tammy is tall but looks too light weight for his size. Lukaku was always big, I don't want Tammy to lose his speed but I think he needs some extra strenght somewhere somehow.

July 25, 20196 yr I used to get a health check for work every two years. My dr said ideally you should aim to be the same weight at 40 or 50 or 60 as when you were 18. Few of us achieve that. Aubameyang isn’t big but he’s effective. It’s Tammy’s head that needs to improve. Making good decisions, not blowing easy chances, working out when pressing in defence is a good use of energy etc.

July 25, 20196 yr What’s not crap at least according to that font of authority the internet is that Abraham is already 2 kg more than Aubamayang at 82 kg v 80 kg . That dr did a lot of corporate health checkups but maybe he gilded the lily.

I probably put on a stone of weight when i left school at 16yo for the first 3 months, then i got work doing manual labour for 12 months until 17yo. I become much much more stronger in that 12 months of hard labour and high calorie intake, but i still weighed only a bit more weight than a year before,

July 25, 20196 yr Weight is meaningless if you don't know how to use it. Zola was relatively small but was very difficult to knock of the ball, as was Dennis wise.

I swear he scored in every final and big derbies. Goes without saying Arsenal defenders are still having nightmares. Was it 15 in 16? I'd take that return from Tammy in his career. But thinking back, Drogba was a fantastic big game player and not really one for a wet Wednesday night at Wigan. Then you have a striker like Lukaku, who scores in run of the miil games but goes missing against the big teams.

I'm just worried that Tammy doesn't get bullied out from duels once the league games start, I guess weight and size doesn't matter that much because I just remembered Morata that by all means should be capable of standing upright...
