Tammy Abraham

People will mainly remember the penalty miss, but he did win the penalty through his work ethic chasing a lost cause,

Morata never goes for that ball.  That's the difference.

PK's are psychological.  You have to want the pressure of taking one, and you have to believe you'll make it.  It's all good if this is used as a learning experience and motivation.  He's just seems so desperate for his first Chelsea goal.

I think long term he's more a squad player at a club like ours however I've been quite impressed with his tactical game so far and he's been nowhere near as bad as people are saying.

His general CF play was decent, did pretty good against van Dijk, but just like Lukaku was he's a young striker who is still a bit scared playing for Chelsea. We'll see if he can be more comfortable after playing a bit more this season, he'll get loads of minutes for sure, Giroud can't play the 90 every game.

Remmber that Henry couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo early in his time at Arsenal and Drogba looked a bit of a Donkey early on at Chelsea.  Tho he hasn't scored, missed a sitter and looks incredibly raw, but so far,  i think he's done better than i though he'd do. He's getting into decent positions, which is a big positive!

The GK got off the line act just never get caught in football. I mean with a linesman at the goal line and VAR, I think it's pretty easy to detect it in real time. Giroud is the first choice, Abraham will bet plenty of chances in between. The penalty thing will be forgotten soon, all the best players have missed before, so he won't be the last.

I’m surprised so many people think Frank is going to abandon Tammy and have Giroud as first choice, not a chance he does that in my opinion. He’ll give Tammy all the support he needs to succeed and dropping him to second choice after that would destroy his confidence. Giroud while a good option isn’t going to get any better from where he is, Tammy has huge potential and the only way he’ll achieve that is to keep playing games.

The whole reason Giroud started was because he played such a big role in the EL last season and Tammy will start Sunday.

Let’s not forget - Giroud could have had 2 or 3 goals if he wasn’t slowed than a week in the jail with the Liverpool high line.

I reckon he’ll get one or two on Sunday.

I feel all this shouting and him missing a penalty will make him stronger. Everyone is overflowing him with great messages. What better way to turn it around than to sink Leicester.

As a starter or sub, he'll  easily get enough game time this season  to show us if he's good enough to go with as a regular next season.  I'd like to know if Frank or the cllub have a minimum goal target set for deciding wether they will go with Tammy as a starter next season, or splash out big money on a striker or two.  It's tricky setting a target for one so young, but i think something like 18 in all comps would be a good enough first season.

He'll be fine.  He has a passion and connection to the club.  Morata was a fragile ballerina in a football player's body.  Every team he has been with felt he was expendable.

Not understanding the excitement around this lad - looks way out of his depth.  If we had a quality striker and decent backup he'd be our League Cup (or whatever it is called) run out at best.

For all the noise surrounding him the last couple of years I was expecting to be wowed - at least in glimpses.  Sadly not the case.

Early signs are quite worrying, he looks no better than he was at Swansea, and I thought he was pretty awful for them.

If we play like Swansea he'll be awful here.

When you look at how pukki took his goals yesterday it is hard to see how Abraham nearly scored as many as him last season at the moment.

I think it must be down to nerves, because he is clearly a better player than he has shown so far.

He really needs a goal.

He'll need to take massive steps throughout this season if he is going to prove himself good enough.

He does look exactly like he did at Swansea last time in the premiership unfortunately. But i'll support him and be behind him all the way because we know he's here for the season, he'll get a lot of opportunities so let's hope he can take them.

This is why I don't really get excited by how well players perform in the Championship. Some look good when they move a step up, like Mount currently does, and then there are players like Abraham that just don't look like they quite have what it takes at this level. Partick Bamford was the same. It's why I don't really have much to say about Reece James yet. Fans are hyping the kid up a lot, but there is a high chance that he will struggle as much as Abraham has. It really is hard to judge just how good somebody is when they are playing in the Championship. It's why I always prefer to see our players go on loan to Premier League clubs or abroad like Mount did two seasons ago and Loftus-Cheek when he went to Crystal Palace.

I’m hoping this is all it is, a goal any old way. He got a great reception and lots of support from the fans today and at Old Trafford, as long as they’re behind him I think he’ll keep working as hard as he can to get the goals.

Edit: He’ll probably be annoyed that Mason scored before him too!

I know that Lamps is on a mission to blood in the youngsters, but for the sake of our results I think he needs to use Michy as the primary rotator for Giroud.

Tammy gets cold feet in the box massively, if he can get over it then he can be a much more effective striker. But how long do we persist?

Never understood why Bats rarely gets played. I know his hold up play isn’t great but he can finish. Now we’re a lot more creative, we just need someone who is clinical to put the ball in the net - Bats can do that and he is a natural finisher.

For me he can only play in a front two and that has gone out of fashion these days with more in midfield.

I think lampard questioning his training was very telling.

Trying to read between the lines... Lampard publicly has said he wants Bats to take training more seriously.

It's been said by reporters that Bats wants to stay and fight for his place.

Leads me to believe that Lampard has told him he has the chance to be the #1, but he has to earn it.. Prove it with his work in training.

Something Bats believes he can do, rather than just not being rated like Conte.

I want Abraham in the team, but I want him playing less high pressure minutes. Cup games and lower leagues opponents.

There isn't, trust me.

Reece is the jewell out of our academy boys, even ahead of Odoi.

But that question shouldn't be posed just about Tammy. With the money we'll have to spend next year, a lot of the current squad are, or at least should be playing for their future at Chelsea. So, they've all got a year to show what they are made of.
