Christ we’re a fickle bunch, the lad has started a grand total of one game this season and already he’s being written off. Beggars belief, some by folk who think Zouma is the next Maldini - he’s had some shocking performances in a chelsea shirt and still folk say he’s our best CB. At least give the laddie until Christmas before throwing him on the scrap heap FS.

🤷🏻‍♂️

Really happy for the lad, two top finishes and I have faith he is going to kick on from there. Another good thing from this season is the youngsters will be getting some champions league experience.

That will be hopefully the end of our search for a new striker. Yes it's early doors, but we have seen him do this at every level, now he's doing it with quality players around him at the top. Those two goals were all we wanted to see, a superb first time strike that usually goes over the bar with most strikers, and a fantastic run around two Norwich defenders and another silky finish. No tap ins, no opposition mistakes, pure talent.

So that'll be another £80m-£120m saved for investment elsewhere into the team.

A couple of years ago, I went to a Chelsea youth game at the Bridge vs Man Utd. I commented after the game, on here I think, that despite his amazing record at youth level, I couldnt see him ever making it with us. He was owned that night by a 30% fit Phil Jones.

I have seen little in his subsequent loans EPL and Championship loans to change my mind. Bad decision making, clumsy at times, despite his height he struggles with physicality, heading isn't up to much, and needs 3 chances to score 1.

Out of all our first team squad, I have probably the least amount of confidence in him - well, Bakayoko aside (yes, I even have more faith in Zappa!).

I am all for giving youth a chance, Mount, RLC, Christensen, CHO, Ampadu all have that little spark which sets them aside from others, but this lad I am really worried about. For me, he should not be ahead of Giroud and Bats (who I also do not rate!), and should be a player who we give the odd cup game run out for squad depth.

Credit where credit is due, 2 good finishes today, and so happy for the lad to get his first goals for his boyhood club. It must be a great feeling.  Lets hope he can continue to develop and I will continue to hope that he proves me wrong!

Really happy for Tammy.

And as raw as he is, he’ll get better and more experienced as he plays more games for us.

I feel it will be important that he didn’t have to wait long for his first Chelsea goal.

He’ll take a lot from today’s game and has essentially answered Frank’s challenge for our strikers to step up.

He’s the man in possession at the moment.

Have had this stupid grin plastered all over my face ever since Tammy's first goal went in ... facial muscles starting to ache a bit now ... can see the euphoria lasting well into next week though ... 🙂

Mine was wiped off my face two minutes later:laugh2:

On a more serious note i thought he was sensational today, his all round play caught my eye more than his goals, it's a lot better than i thought/remember.

Two great finishes. Must have done wonders for his confidence.

We could still do with another regardless. Firstly to give Frank the option for a diamond and secondly most top clubs have atleast two top strikers.

Yes so we only need to buy one not two.

We need to be careful with who we buy though, let’s be honest we will most often start 1 and he will be first choice. We shouldn’t spend £80m+ on a forward just to make a statement.  it is important it’s Lamps choice as the most important thing for any player (especially a striker) is having your manager’s faith. Just see Kane under Pochettino.

Personally I will buy someone around the 28yr old mark, with quality who he can learn from for 2-3yrs. Can’t underestimate the impact Giroud is having on him as a mentor.

A good rotation policy can keep both fresh and hungry, like how Pep uses Aguero and Jesus. If Frank sees the diamond as a go to option for some games then that will give both plenty of game time.

He needed those goals and we needed to see that from him. It should surely give him great confidence and give us hope that he can make it at this level.

Most of us were saying he would make it at the top, at the start of this thread nearly 4 years ago, we had fans from Bristol and Sheffield all saying we had a gem.

Those were two fantastic goals and important ones too.

Voice in head saying it was against 'championship opposition' but those were unlike what I'd expect from him in terms of finishes so promising signs.

Don't know if it was just me and Tammy is his own player in his own right - so don't normally make comparisons, but Tammy's 2nd girl reminded me of Drogba.

I thought that too at the time.

We haven't seen Tammy do it at every level, he's done very well at the Championship with Bristol and Villa and had a decent, but not great stint with Swansea in the PL in between. While finishing second best goalscorer last season was quite impressive, let's not forget that the league's leading goalscorer was certain Teemu Pukki, who scored Norwich's second today, so let's not get carried away here, shall we?

I'm very happy for Tammy, he took his goals well and hopefully it'll do his confidence a world of good as he continues to develop his game. But scoring twice against the Championship level backline isn't suddenly going to turn him into a top quality striker. There's a very long road ahead and it'll be months and months before we could objectively assess his worth and whether he has a future at the club.

At best, he may be a decent option off the bench for the last 15 minutes to get behind the tired backline, but if he's our first choice this season, we're in a lot of trouble.
