November 15, 20169 yr We need to be careful about forcing him on Conte. The role of a coach should only be allowed if Conte wants it. The last thing we need right now is another behind the scenes turmoil.

Well said and from what I can see from Conte he would love to welcome back someone with such a history, but it is up to him to make the call if it's in a footballing capacity.

Yeah he's a very volatile character and if he feels he's being disrespected by the club he'll walk. With his stock rising as well he can walk into any top club. I like frank but he's certainly not worth it. personally I think an ambassadorial role or a Jody Morris type deal with the youth would be ideal.

To be honest I am still hurt by Lampard's move to Man City and their sister club. I'm sure others may feel differently but I would like him to build some bridges before we go offering a susbstanial role at the club.
November 15, 20169 yr If Lamps does come back it wont be as part of Contes backroom team, he'll be offered a role coaching the kids or youths and working his way up. I dont think hes got the badges either to be considered a good coach at this stage of his life. In 2 or 3 years after working with the youths, if hes good enough he can be promoted to a 1st team role.
November 15, 20169 yr Would be great to know Frank is back at the club, love the idea of him working with the under 21s, if ever we had a player who is an example of the right attitude and work rate it's Frank.
November 15, 20169 yr What a gift it would be to have him back here. I think he can be a very good coach.

November 16, 20169 yr I'm sure the club would know how to handle a 'coming home" for Sir Frank, doubt he'd be foisted on to conte without his absolute say so, Antonio is building afresh, but i'm sure he'd recognise the wealth of chelsea history and talent he would bring, it would be a win win situation, if handled correctly.
November 17, 20169 yr Looks like his contract time at NYCFC is up at the end of the year (?) and he is being linked, perhaps hopefully, to a year playing for Rangers.

As the years pass us by, no one is going to remember Frank's short playing stint at Manchester City. The only grievance some may have with him was that he was playing for a direct title contender at the time, but from memory we let him go so we couldn't complain about what he did next. There's no point holding grudges or feeling bad to be honest. He's still a legend in my eyes, and he's welcome back to the club in any official capacity if the board and Antonio feel he'll benefit the club. Edited November 17, 20169 yr by Jezz
November 17, 20169 yr He doesn't need to build any bridges nor does the short City move hamper anything he did here. Sorry but I think peopl hurt by that are simply over sensitive. It's not like he left under a dark cloud. We didn't renew his contract so he moved on. Also he may have gone to City when he should have been at New York but let's not forget he has a wife and kids here so been offered the chance to stay in England for longer was the right thing for him to do on a personal level. Family is everything and it's more important than anything else.
November 17, 20169 yr Interesting how the Lampard situation divided the fans in a way. I respect each and every opinion as we are all entitled to one, for me Lampard is a true example of a superb World Class player. Gentleman in every sense, respected by opposition adored by his own fans. I was always saying that one player can't be called the greatest ever, as he didn't play in each era of the club. However super Frank is certainly among the greatest ever to wear the blue shirt. Certainly a hero for all ages, i would never have something against a player that has done so much for the club. I would love nothing more than for him to return to the club where he belongs. Long live Frank Lampard.
November 17, 20169 yr Completely agree with @Jezz. In the grand scheme of things, does anyone remember Peter Schmeichel's stint at Man City? Or Andy Cole's?

November 17, 20169 yr I appreciate everyone's opinions and I definitely know that my own judgement is clouded. To me Lampard was my hero, literally my favourite player of all time but to see him turning out for another EPL side, especially a rival broke my heart. It will be good to get him back by my God I don't ever want to hear mention of him playing in sky blue again... *shudders*

I honestly never understood the vitriol aimed at lanyard when he went to city. Chelsea didn't want him, he wanted to carry on playing at the top and win trophies, city offered that, he signed for them. That's it.
