Nah its a pointless stat, how could you seriously give an assist to the player who passed to Charlie Adam to score from 60 yds against us for example?

Those kind of assists are few and far between, it doesn't really support the argument that assists is a pointless stat. 

 

So nearly a 3rd if fabregas assists came from set pieces? That's quite a boost to a state the point is that if your consistently taking set piece as an individual you are likely to have a high assist ratio then if your a player not taking set pieces

Not disagreeing with that, you do get a boost. The same way you get a boost to your goal tally when you take penalties. I was addressing your point about most assists being from set pieces.

I should have been specific to the individual. What i meant is that individuals who take set pieces will have higher assist and it doesn't really give an indication of there ability to be creative from open play. Agree re penaltys and I had a lot at it seems this Alex fella has 5 from his tally which isn't bad. Not that any of it speaks to wheather or not he will succeed or fail if we even buy him

Ah, I see. If most of a player's assists is from set pieces then yeah that can be quite deceiving, which is why you don't make straight judgements based solely on stats. 

 

5 isn't bad at all considering Hazard had quite a few penalties himself last season when he scored 19 goals.

A quick look at Cesc's assists from last season how many involved actual key passes to assist?

 

 

Well he got more than 15 assists but in that video about 7 or 8, depending on how picky you want to be, of those were key passes.

wouldn't like to see either on loan, but if any one of them then kenedy. i think traore should be in the first team squad. i got a feeling teixera could be used as a striker. remy or falcao could leave. 

Is he an attacking mid who plays in the Oscar position? I've completely lost all faith in Oscar and think he should be sold, to inconsistent.

Guus has already said he will play the team to their strengths, not his

teixera is a attacking mid i think, maybe a no.10, i really am not sure, but he's a lethal goalscorer so striker is a possible position we could be looking at playing him in. didn't aubayeang play as a winger or attacking mid, but then switched to striker? if so, it's possible we could try the same with teixera.

If he's not a striker, it seems a bit of a strange signing with all the AMs in the squad. Doesn't look like someone who could lead the line on his own.

Players playing to their strengths and youth being given a chance, sounds promising.
