...a relatively obscure player form a very obscure league...

Sure play down the Ukrainian league, but to call a player obscure who has scored more goals in the Champions League this season than the likes of Neymar and Zlatan. Ok, to be fair, the goal tally is three (which is not bad for a midfielder), but two of them were scored against Real Madrid.

Had you heard of him before this season, I certainly hadn't yet he has scored 3 CL goals in the last 3 seasons. Heck didn't Benayoun score a hatrick in the CL so I wouldn't put scoring in the CL on a pedestal. I'm sure you can find multiple players on 3 CL goals you haven't heard of.

Yes he certainly is becoming a bigger name but his reputation certainly isn't as big as his price tag, if he does come I hope he does well but I'm certainly not fussed if we miss out.

I don't really understand why there is so much intensity by some posters behind this transfer he is a relatively obscure player form a very obscure league who hasn't played competitively since the 8th of december and is going to cost close to £40m and is it really worth spending that much on someone who isn't likely to start and there are question marks over whether he will be able to adapt to the premier league.

There are questions around every player who hasn't played in the premier league, 95% of fans would have said Pedro would have done well here because he came from Barca/La Liga but he's looked lost so far.

It just seems that any player that isn't Lewandowski, Bale, Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez, Neymar, Pogba, Greizmann or Reus will get massively scrutinised.

Yes, I actually had heard of him. Not only because of his recent form, but he scored an early goal against us in our UCL away match against Shaktar in 2012.

Their CEO has told anyone if they want him now, pay 70m euros. He wont be sold this window.

Still Liverpool fans think he is lying to get them to pay £38m.  The CEO was pretty clear in his interview, unless you pay 70m euros, then bye bye

The saddest, pathetic part of the whole thing was Scousers tweeting John Henry and his wife pleading with them to pay the fee, and then deciding if they miss out on him or don't sign him, FSG should go.  f**king sad

I really wanted Texeira here but all that talk about him wanting to go to Liverpool and him costing almost 40 mil when he hasn't even produced for his country and is coming out of a weak league in Ukraine makes me think its not a good deal to make.

Although Willian had similar playing experience as did Douglas Costa. But again, all the liverpool talk coming from him is annoying. He should just stay silent on his transfer and keep his comments between him and his agent.

At least it prevents liverpool from getting him lol. They have been outdone by a chinese side ffs! Haha

Will be a sign of things to come. Won't be just Liverpool who lose out on good players to chinese sides.

The players that they're acquiring is somewhat ridiculous.

If we lose out to a Chinese team then zero f**ks will be given.

Slightly stinks of these players being mercenaries.

Players have a limited shelf life, so most will go where the biggest money is, to be set up for life. If that's China, they flock to China. If next it's Papua New Guinea, they flock to Papua New Guinea. Makes total sense. Edited by Valerie

Pretty funny. Its just a week ago since he said he wanted to move to one of the big leagues to improve his chances of playing for Brazil NT.

Good luck...

Of course his aim was to sign at a club in Europe, such as Liverpool and Chelsea and I would've liked to have him at Chelsea. The little I've seen from him seems like he offers another dimension than our current players. Shaktar had offers from Europe but declined, their asking price was outrageous and I understand that neither Chelsea nor Liverpool were ready to offer this kind of money.

On the other hand, trash-talking Texeira for moving to China I thinks is ridiculous. He has stated before that he doesn't like living in Ukraine especially with all the crisis happening there lately. So being offered loads of money to move away from a place he doesn't like, I guess is really hard to decline.

My guess is he'll be in Europe within two and a half years time.

Are you serious??

If you were paid 40k a week for a 10 year career you'd earn 20m over your career. Where I come from that's being 'set up for life'

In China they'll earn 3 or 4 times that, even more so.

It's greed, whilst playing in a piss poor standard league.
