Tbh I think we are better not buying players for big money until we have a clear plan going forward.

That has to start with identifying who the manager is going to be, and the style of football we want to develop.

The doesn't seem to be a clear vision at the moment of where we want to go.

The only reason Liverpool are making a move is because they're willing to pay a premium (i.e. allegedly they offered Sanchez more money and he still turned them down in favour of Arsenal). I suspect (I hope) the same may happen with Teixeira so long as we (or any other interested party, Spurs etc) make it known we'll be in for him this summer.

Well said mate. Liverpool's bid has been flatly rejected as the club doesn't want to negotiate a sale this winter unless for a reported 39m pounds.

Speaking to Brazilian newspaper Globo, Teixeira said: “I would like to move in this transfer window and have told them [shakhtar] that. They have received a very good offer and they are working on a solution.

The 26-year-old from Duque de Caxias, a suburb of Rio de Janeiro, added: “It is my desire to move to a big league and I know that the English league is very strong.

"I am ready and I know that I will grow up a lot there. I am aware that two big clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea are interested but I haven’t given my word to either of them.

The mate just wants to earn better quids. Knew all that flirting earlier on was just to better himself financially. Can hardly blame him though, would do same in his shoes. Think he might join Liverpool as we don't seem to be interested in doing serious business this window.

Another example of us going for the cheap option lately if we sign Pato instead of him.

Just my opinion but I would rather we didn't drop £30m+ on a player whilst we have an interim manager in charge of the team.

You're effectively forcing that player on to the next manager who might have ideas for a formation/system where that player isn't suited.

Look at Mata at United, bought for £37m under Moyes and now LVG doesn't know where to play him because he wants pace on the wings and has prefered players behind the striker.

Is that what the summer was about. I dont think we should sign either. I also dont think Teixera will go for 35m either but that is a good point.

there are fans of shakhtar who think he's a very good player and would do well in the prem. what happened to markovic anyway? he's gone off the radar after liverpool bought him. i remember the hype around him too.

Went to Fenerbahce, has been doing fairly well for them.
