Not a great performance at all, important win though.

We really are struggling all over this season, we just can't move the ball around at all, and it's bringing a huge amount of pressure on the defense. As long as we keep giving the ball away, we will not improve.

Good result, but i'm not really convinced that we will improve any time soon.

Let's just hope the win raises morale a bit and raises the performances.

We desperately need reinforcements in January if we are going to have any chance at a top 4 spot.

I really feel for Fabregas, hes getting a lot of flack for something thats out of his control. Hes not a runner or a tackler, hes not someone who will shoot from outside the box, hes a passer. He thrives on runs and movement off the ball. Undortunately there are none. Thers zero movement off the ball so he has to either pass ot sideways or ends up keeping it for too long lookin for someone to get into position

2nd half was same old boring stuff from jose.. why is it he must instruct the team to sit back inviting pressure? throwing away possession by passing aimlessly, notably that back pass to begovic that would end up as long ball to opposition .. 

 

1st half was good, why try to be different? had it not for willian, another goal from set pieces, it could very well be his pragmatism cost us the game..

Performance wasn't great but glad we won, Kiev are a pretty average team and we should be beating them 9 times out of 10. 

 

Hope we see keep the same back four going into our next match.

Which players could have done anything about their goal? That's what I'm asking people who think Mourinho was to blame for their goal. The only changes he could have made that would make any difference would be attacking changes. That doesn't suddenly make the back 4 and goalkeeper go from clumsy to composed. 

The goal came about because of constant pressure, there is only so much you can take before a mistake happens. If a change is made earlier, pressure would have been lifted much earlier and mistakes wouldn't have happened.

Willian is incredible. He's got to be up there as one of Jose's best signings.

I don't know what people expect but for me that was another slight improvement in what for the boys and Jose had become the most important game of the season, we had patches of good play and Costa obviously still out of sorts made the scorline flatter Kiev.

 

Well pleased with Baba being as he had a handful against him on their right, Hazard looked up for it when he came on and Willian gets better and better.

 

I thought Begovic should have done better for their goal but he was alert and done well otherwise.

 

The fans at the game should make some of the people doubting our manager feel ashamed, the boys are playing for him alright.

we have a real problem with some of the basics. obviously i've never been a pro footballer but these guys are in the top 1% of players in the world - internationals, champions, winners and yet so often we can't pass to a team mate, we can't shoot, we get brushed off the ball, we're badly out of position. People are gunning for Jose but really, do these players not need to put in a real shift and focus on playing the game well?

I think the midfield needs addressed.

It's not wonder we get knocked off the ball when Ramire and Cesc are in there.

We need a good passer with steel and determination, we don't really have that. Matic is one footed and Ramires passing is terrible while Cesc isn't a typical box to box midfielder

He did admit he was unfit and carrying extra pounds, that was a month or so ago so really it should be addressed by now

Not going to nit-pick tonight. Sure we could all over-analyse the performance and certain players but tonight it was all about winning the game and that's exactly what we did so I'll save any criticisms for another day.

Kiev aren't the best team but this game was very high pressure, lose or draw and it could be curtains for the CL campaign and maybe Jose's job too, you have to compare the performance against the last game vs Liverpool rather than last season to see if you should be happy or not. Improvement over Liverpool? Yes, now let's see if we can improve again next game.

Costa last seams would take one maybe two touches and pull the trigger, now he's not finishing runs and when he gets the ball it's any excuse not to shoot

Happy with the 3 points. Hope it's something we can build on. 

 

I hope no one blames Terry for the goal. How many times we seen him clear on the line when the keeper is beaten. He made the right choice for me to leave his mark.
