Sadly I have yes. Was it a slight improvement from the Liverpool game? Sure, but we also met a poor outfit. And had another overall poor performance with little change from what we have seen this year. If we play like this against Porto we will be completely overran

Happy with the 3 points. Hope it's something we can build on. 

 

I hope no one blames Terry for the goal. How many times we seen him clear on the line when the keeper is beaten. He made the right choice for me to leave his mark.

 

He had no choice, somebody had to take the risk with the keeper in no man's land.

Only reason we are all not saying a magnificent performances rather than a decent one is poor finishing. If Oscar times his jump better and later on Costa shoots rather than dives we are 3-0 at the break, add to that Zouma missing an open goal and Begovic making not 1 but 2 errors on their goal and we would be talking 5-0.

 

I know ifs and buts however most of that is due to bad finishing. Overall the team worked their ar*es off tonight and deserves some credit. We were vastly superior to a good Kiev side.

Costa last seams would take one maybe two touches and pull the trigger, now he's not finishing runs and when he gets the ball it's any excuse not to shoot

Yeah it does look like a confidence thing

The goal came about because of constant pressure, there is only so much you can take before a mistake happens. If a change is made earlier, pressure would have been lifted much earlier and mistakes wouldn't have happened.

 

The constant pressure exists because most of the defense and some attacking players don't have the composure and technical ability to keep possession and play the ball out of trouble. There is no change that can be made to address that problem. Bringing on Cahill, for example, would make it worse, not better. 

Relief. Where on earth we would be without Willian this season, God only knows.

We won tonight, a lifeline for the best manager in the world to stay at the team we support...massive victory and Porto certainly wouldn't have over run us tonight.

I nearly fell asleep several times during the game. Nothing to do with the quality of football just 90 minutes listening to Michael Mogadon Owen does that to a man of my age.

Let's hope tonight's result will give the boys the confidence to take into Saturday's game and build on. Stoke isn't going to be the place to play dazzling football so as long as the result is good and we grind out a win, let's hope the performance side of things will follow.

I'm sure people at the moment would rather a positive result than saying we played really well, but lost.

I appreciate the optimism, I really do. But the overall play today was far from what we can and should expect from Chelsea. We keep losing possesion, we move the ball incredibly slow, especially from deep in midfield and theres a clear lack of final ball. Its more if the same we have seen all season, just against worse opposition. It was very much like the Liverpool game except instead of Benteke and Courinho we were facing Boris and Ivan Average.

Saved by Willian, that was too close. I almost had a heart attack when they equalised, felt the writing is on the wall for Jose.Thankfully for once the subs stepped up and Willian rescued us again. Our game is far from good, but we could leave that for days come. It's great to finally have a win, and a hero to hail.

Not trying to sound smart after the fact but when Begovic decided to leave the ball to Terry before the goal we conceded, then dropped his back header, the look on his face told me he was going to have a rush of blood and come for the corner.

 

That sort of bad decision making is why he is an able back up, but not a top first choice keeper. Sooner Tibo is back the better, we have missed Cech.

 

Thank you Jose for putting Baba and Dave in their natural positions, please keep them there against Stoke it was great seeing them go forward and link play well. Zouma looked very good, JT did decent.

 

Matic was better but noway near is best. Ramires I am left to wonder sometimes about, he really has terrible control and passing ability but so much energy and a heck of a shot on him.

 

Cesc looked better, like Matic decent but noway at his best. Oscar worked hard, unlucky not to to score second half, should have scored first half. Willian very good again, better due to another amazing free kick.

 

Costa...pull your head out mate. Stop fighting, stop diving, and just shoot the ball.

 

Hazard looked bright coming on, to a lesser degree so did Pedro.

 

Again the fans, top class proud to be one of you.

I don't know what people expect but for me that was another slight improvement in what for the boys and Jose had become the most important game of the season, we had patches of good play and Costa obviously still out of sorts made the scorline flatter Kiev.

 

Well pleased with Baba being as he had a handful against him on their right, Hazard looked up for it when he came on and Willian gets better and better.

 

I thought Begovic should have done better for their goal but he was alert and done well otherwise.

 

The fans at the game should make some of the people doubting our manager feel ashamed, the boys are playing for him alright.

 

Not at our best but a game where the nerves must have been really on edge we showed signs we will come out the other side of this.

 

As good as Begovic has been as a shot stopper, I think it can't be understated the loss of Courtois has been massive. For me Begovic adds to the defensive uncertainty a decent number two but that's about it.

The main difference between a nervy two one and a respectable win was a bang out of form main striker, a Drogba, A Costa of last season, sh*t even a Demba Ba and we'd have had a rout.

I thought we were better going forward. Actually getting some width, getting some crosses into the box. If Costa would make better runs he could have scored a few tonight.

We did, good times. I dont think we are going to agree on our performances this year so lets leave it that.

While Costa, Hazard, Fabregas etc were getting fat over the summer Willian seems to have put in extra time and has improved tremendously. If you asked me at the start of the season who should be sold he would have been on the list but massive props to the lad, he's been our best player nearly every game and today he was fantastic.
