Gary Neville has left the building

Surprised by Neville's results. I thought he would do well. Maybe Valenica wasn't the right place for him. I would still have him a coach - managing and coaching are two very different things.

Does he lack credibility now? I think so.

He can point to players being out of position, as for attacking managers, I dont think so!

It will be funny if he comes back to Sky to see Redknapp trying to lecture him.  Neville should rightfully put him in his place, but wee tight pants will always have sly digs (even though he himself would never have been considered for the managerial position in the first place)

Gary Neville could lose every game of his managerial career 7-0 and he would still have more credibility than Jamie Redknapp.

Exactly, but that still wouldn't stop JR from thinking he, in some weird way, had "one up" on him.

Can I just say about people who think he wouldn't be able to come back to Sky and criticise managers etc. Just because he's failed on this venture doesn't mean he doesn't know what it takes to be a great manager. Simon Cowell can't sing but he knows more about music than most people.

I tend to agree. It's like saying that just because you can't play football better than Oscar, let's say, you shouldn't criticize him. Neville has the knowledge, the experience, he's a great pundit and his analysis is mostly spot on. Indeed, his experience in Valencia was a disaster, but there are a lot of other factors besides theoretical knowledge when it comes to managing a team. Maybe he failed at communicating with the players, maybe the players are really bad, maybe the players don't like him, who knows? That doesn't make him a worse pundit. I'd love to see him back on Sky.

I agree that Neville will not be a less effective pundit, should his time at Valencia end. I wonder however whether he'll feel less certain about what he says? That is, will he feel his authority is diminished? He'll be conscious of his own failings as a manager and perhaps less prepared to dish out criticism of others?

It was a strange decision for him to go there. He has never played in that league and it looks like he is struggling to get his tactics across, or the tactics he is implementing are not right for Spanish football.

And yet, people are still saying 'Make Giggs the next Utd Manager'. Neville's performance at Valencia is from running before he can walk (in the manager's role). I hope Giggs takes note.

and another loss , against the 12th ranked team this time

so 1 win in 12 games all competitions combine

bro do you even watch la liga? if you did, then you would have realized playing away to Real Betis is a hard place for a traveling side to get the 3 points. For instance RM went there & barely got a draw. The RM goal came w/ a clear offsides not called during the build-up. So before we criticize Neville for not winning at Real Betis, at least recognize this fact that this would always be a tough fixture. Mucho Gracias!!!

It's a shame cos he did come across well as a pundit...but it just shows the difference between talking a good game and coaching one....certainly put paid to notion he's next England manager...be hard to get any job after this debacle, except for his old one at sky and even then his aura will be somewhat diminished

Giggs has had a little more time in management. Id trust him to do the job over quite a few managers
