Kovacic and Asensio were picked up to the starting lineup before James Rodriguez. He lost his spot in the first XI last season, I don't think he is willing to stay there. Modric is suspended, Benzema is injured, Ronaldo injured and they still have Isco and Lucas Vazquez on the bench. There is no place for him, I think there is a chance that if we will push harder for him, we will sign him.

I'd prefer us to fight for James Rodriguez, he suits to the PL more than Isco. James is physical, strong with the ball, can shoot, can cross. Isco is quicker, better dribbler but he is not PL player in my opinion.

Don't want him, just feels like the a Pedro signing all over again except this time we will be overpaying. Why are we giving Madrid their money back for a player they don't want? He is a 10, we are not playing with a 10 at the moment, and even if we did we have 3 players (agreed 2 are not as good as him) who can play that role.

It is last transfer window all over again, we haven't been able to get our transfer target and just throwing money at any "marquee-type" signing without a plan. Admittedly we need to upgrade our attacking right side, but we have had all summer to do that. Same with defence, but we will end up getting our pants pulled down.

I'm reading it's Perez that's the problem. Zidane is happy to let him go because he won't get playing time.

Asensio looks so good! He has a big future at Real Madrid, there is clearly no way back for James now he has to leave if he wants to play regular first team football, and I don't see Real Madrid rejecting any good offers for James

Vasques & Isco both on ahead of him and that's all 3 subs made.

The season does look bleak for him if he stays.

Mikhail Antonio has played a hefty amount of games as a RB. Doesnt mean thats where he is best. James hasnt got the legs to play wide in the PL.

But he still plays well there anyway. David silva, mata, ozil and de bruyne are all better playing in a number 10 role however all play really well out wide aswell.

I dont think james is any weaker physically then any of those players who have excelled in the pl, he is clever enough to find pockets of space, and whether he picks the ball up wide right, wide left, centrally, or deep, he has the ability to create and score.

Just because our team sheet doesnt show a player in the 'number 10' doesnt mean we dont have players that play in that area. Im sure he would have licence to drift in and get on the ball, as hazard and willian have do at the moment.

With players like Hazard and Willian, spending a huge sum on him seems daft. We have bigger priorities.

 

And IMO bar Mata, all the players you mentioned are a higher calibre than James.
