Leicester's squad is worth 22m. Jose goes ape with a budget that small. You have to spend money yes, but Jose soley relies on it. Big difference

But don't big teams tend to use the transfer market to improve their squads each year? I want us to develop youngsters too, but in concert with using the market and we simply failed to do that when there were glaring holes in the squad.

 

Falcao may have been a Mourinho signing. But he was third-choice striker and a shot to nothing. As it is he's become fourth-choice and will probably never be seen or heard of again.

What do you mean 10 years at a club? This is a results business and Chelsea more than anyone have proved this. You don't get time to build for 10 years because as soon as the results go bad your sacked. The days of 10 years are long gone.

No they don't. Bayern, Barca and Juve for example although they spend, they have also blooded several youth players to mix in with their spend. They didn't need a manager to stay longer than 3 years to do so either.

 

Only Real Madrid really rely on market purchases and in the last 8 years they only have 1 league and 1 CL to their name. Pretty poor. Then you have Atletico who don't rely on market purchases and they have succeeded without spending too much.

 

Spurs are another example to with Pochetino. My point is Jose is a coach that relies on spending money too much. Just look at this forum. People are blaming the board for not backing Jose with 100m in the market and now a squad THAT  HE BUILT AND ALTERED  needs a massive overhaul.

Ultimately I wish Jose was as astute enough to play the young players instead of the failing flops in the first half of the season. That would have relieved a lot of pressure as we are seeing with van gaal now. Jose played the same team over and over, sh*t performance after sh*t performance.

Jose clearly mismanaged, so did the board and the players also underperformed.

We have possibly the best academy in Europe, definitely the best in England. Hiddink needs to play them in the league now and try and build something for the future.

Football's a results business that requires huge spending to stay at the top.

 

If we want to get back to the top again then the youth need to be forgotten about and we need to spend again.

 

I don't see much evidence of youngsters in the big Euro-powerhouse teams ie Top 5 of which we were one until not too long ago - and I don't recollect us having much in the way of youngsters playing for us when we were 'up there'.

 

Growing youth players into first team regulars is a back in the day thing often seen through lenses of the rose tinted variety.

 

I'm sick of the latest, greatest prospects with their agents/managers/Dad's all pleading the case as to how much (think lots) they are worth and quite often skinning the club with big deals that come to nothing.

 

My view is this: bugger off and play football down in L2/L1 and if you are any good you'll soon be snapped up by a big club.  This is more like the route of a 'real world' career and avoids having pissy young brats telling everyone about how often they ought to be playin and how wonderful they are etc etc.

 

FWIW: RLC is pants and he'll go nowhere with us.  Traore/Kenedy are average at best.  Not one of them will ever be big for Chelsea.

Pep spent about 70million euros on Zlatan alone and utilized him so well that Zlatan left the next season on a loan made permanent in the off season for 26 million euros......lol
