I hate Pep. I really don't like the guy.

Me either, I think he pretends he's someone he's not. People can criticise Jose but he's on honest doesn't pretend to be nice for the sake of it yet Pep does but then has moments (medical team) where he shows his true self. I also hate how he felt Barca were entitled to win because they play 'the right way' and his it's a 'victory for football' stance on everything. Add to that the song and dance he made about leaving Bayern I just think screw this guy, always quits when he comes under a bit of pressure.

Although it would make watching a stream watchable.

the want for a long term manager I presume is linked to wanting to see more of our own youth players progress into the first team. but that has only ever really happened once in this country, and even then Fergie admitted it was a once in a lifetime occurrence and he got lucky with them players. Arsene Wenger apparently brings youth through, but its a bit of a myth with the majority being bought in, very few coming through the academy.

I think one of the problems with the youth debate is what's considers youth? Is it academy players? Or just young players brought in? I personally think there's a double standard in the media, Arsenal as DKW said have brought in young players and he's brought those into the first team rather than through an academy. Yet we haven bought young played over the years and also brought them into the first team. The difference? How much those players cost, for some reason it's seen as more accepting for Wenger to sign a young player from Barca put them in his first team and its seen as him bringing through youth. Yet we'll do similar signing a young lad from say France for £20-30 million yet it's not seen as the same thing cause we've spent more.

I just want to have a manager who when they do well they get the chance to at least get a season to sort out any poor spells.

We are never going to get a manager who will be number 1 and will have constant success so everyone who takes this job knows that no matter what they do if they start to struggle for a few months they will be sacked regardless of previous merits.

Think there is a difference between a poor spell, and what we have gone through this season, and to some extent, then end of last. Both on and off the field.

If Pep signs, half our players leave.

Imagine the likes of Ramires trying to play a game of exquisite control and precision passing. Good lord. Pep would have a heart attack. Matic' passing can be very awkward at times too as he's very reliant on his left foot.

Pep would like the following.

Hazard. Willian. Oscar. Azpi.

He would have loved Terry if he was 5 years younger. Zouma has a lot of room for improvement and I'd hope he stays.

This would be the biggest clear out of a top squad in many a year if we sign Pep.

This is what we need! Some players are simply not good enough. Dont make it sound like a bad thing.

Which part of any post I've ever written states that?

Be very specific.

Good shout on Eddie Howe - very impressive young English manager. Not "high profile" enough for one of the billionaire clubs though, regardless of ability.

I think a contributing factor to Eddie Howe's success at Bournemouth is that he has mostly English players. Too early to consider Eddie Howe for me although if he continues to keep Bournemouth up or moves on and does well at somewhere like Everton he may be a good shout in a few years?

Some real duds on that list.

In no way do I want Pellegrini, Koeman offers the same no-fuss approach but actually has some charisma. He's also a legend of an era that would no doubt be a draw to players.

I do also think that both Pardew and Hughes are worthy of serious consideration.

Pochettino would be great but there is approximately 0% chance of wrestling him from Spurs.

Agree with this, maybe a step too early for him though I do like him as a manager, maybe he is the one after the one after Hiddink  :laugh2:

But he plays a very specific type of football, plenty of pass and move stuff that is in the general something alot of Chelsea fans do not like based on their opinions of Pep.

the last thing we need is a young manager like Howe at the moment, and the last thing he needs is to come to a club like ours in the state of flux its currently in. I think he will be a superb manager in the future though.

I don't like Pep or his football philosophy. I just don't like that pass-athon. I think in England it will be a suicide. I have seen 90's Ajax do it, 2000 Barca do it and now Bayern. We don't exactly have the right players for it even.

Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of our style in which we won the CL either.

The love for AVB in this thread is bothering me, apparently losing the dressing room and getting sacked by Spurs and then going to the richest team in Russia warrants giving him another go here. It would be an awful decision.

Dont worry, I seem to be the only one and I dont have a say in the matter unfortunately.

Im going to let everyone else rip apart the Mancini hire

Urgh...not Mankini. He's a decent manager but terrible personailty. Proper dull.

I want a manager with some character, not some dull 50 year old man.

I also do not see how he is a solution to bringing through youth at a club as he has just as poor of a record as Jose does.

We're talking about a man who's 1 and only title win despite spending buckets of money was on GD on the final day.

Seemingly, we went after Pep right after RDM won the CL; but when we fired Roberto, Pep thought we were to volatile an environment.  I can't see him looking at us now and thinking that we are in any way less volatile.

Also, and again I must stress this is merely hearsay, Pep has looked at the current Chelsea team and claimed that we need 10 new players.  If true, that's a lot of players being sold and brought in, and expected to gel under a new manager in a short space of time

Pep would be my choice. Footballing style wise. Im not sure whether we have the chance of getting him though, it looks as though we wont be playing CL football next year. May prove to be too big a hurdle for some managers. BUT imagine the bragging rights he'd have over Mourinho if he did come in, get us to scrape 4th and win a trophy this year. Could be as big a motivation as Pep needs, they didnt exactly get on during their La Liga days.

I don't think we would need 10 players if pep were to come.

Courtois

Zouma matic

Azpiliucuta RODRIGUEZ

NEVES

Fabregas

Willian

Pedro GREIZMANN hazard

I'd imagine matic would become a ball playing centre back, but I think just signing rodriguez from wolfsburg, neves from porto who has a buy out clause, and swapping costa for greizmann to play false nine.

We will probably end up with mancini though, but it still fun to speculate.
