With Simeone next to ruling himself out it puts yet another huge question mark on why we've sacked Jose when we clearly have no plan in place to replace him. Simeone wasn't even the first choice to be honest but Pep has an affinity for taking easy jobs on short term contracts so City is ideal for him, we need someone who is going to be manager for 5+ years, the squad we have now is not an aged one but whoever takes the job we should be looking at to be here to bleed Loftus ect into the team over the next few years.

We have to be realistic about this, the Chelsea managers position is not appealing to the type of character we want, these guys are told one minute, we need a 7 year manager who brings through youth ect then they walk a tightrope balancing the must win every game mentality that is generated from a trigger happy owner and the press that love to stir the pot when Chelsea lose a game or two and trying to bring in youth players.

How Pelligrini can even be considered the answer I don't know, the man struggles even now he's spent mass amounts of money on De Bruyne and Sterling and he still can't make his team convincing, Man City should be walking the the title this year with the performance of outselves, United and Arsenal but they don't.

I personally don't see whoever is next as the long term manager, I think we're one more manager after Hiddink away from JT or Lamps taking over.

I think the 3 season manager model is uniquely suited to our club. We haven't done too badly over the past decade and we've had some proper upheaval. And I think most clubs, with the exception of Arsenal, are going down the same route.

If we can't get a Guardiola or a Simeone, I'm thinking we might as well say screw it and give a British manager a chance.

I think Pellergreni would only be a stop gap option for a year or two until we can get someone more suited. Yeah he has done a good job at City but their resources are incredible. Comes across as too nice and poor defensively.

I wouldn't be impressed or thrilled with him but if Pep, Simone or Conte don't come, I don't really see any other option. Roman only hires managers that have won something and there's only really Pellegreni who would be available.

Pardew I think is the only top British manager at the moment, Monk/Rogers are massive gambles.

i don't know why people disregard pellegrini tbh. no one team is expected or guaranteed to win the league or qualify from their group. to be fair to city, their last couple seasons in europe they've been drawn against very good sides, both in the last 16 and in groups. also, they've had to maintain their form with injuries to key players, most notably aguero and silva. it is only this season they've actually put together a very good side. real madrid haven't won a league title in god knows how many years, and they also nearly got knocked out the CL last season by schalke.

no team is guaranteed to win their domestic league or CL every season, so just because man city have a few "world class" players (aguero and silva are really the only two i would put in the "world class" bracket anyway) doesn't mean they should win the league. It isn't like city are teetering in mid table since pellegrini took over; beat to the title last season by us (unless you want to discredit us with that title win) and the season before the title race was incredibly close between us, liverpool and city, with liverpool overachieving and playing some brilliant football to their credit.

In football a lot can happen in six months. I'm not saying "IT'S COMING!", but just because Simeone distances himself from a possible move to Chelsea in December, it doesn't mean it couldn't happen in the summer.

there apparently is no grand plan to replace the manager with another world class coach, Mour was fired with only ifs & maybes as a lined up successor

if Guus wins a cup like he did before, reckon they will keep him on and bring in Didier as assistant, he has no other job to go back to this time.

Pellegrino - a joke without Abu Duba's billions to back him up, Pep - City or United, Carlo -Bayern , Simione - Atleti, Benitez will be unemployed come next June though, just saying.

I don't think he is ever the man to get that extra 10% out of players, I think he gets the standard performance you'd expect from his team, the league title he won they really should not have won, Liverpool should have won that, and the only other trophy the man has won was the League cup in which they played Wigan-Newcastle-Leicester-West Ham-Sunderland.

Tactically he offers nothing special, same system, same style every week at City which sometimes costs them points and to be frank without Aguero and his amount of goals over the last few years, if you replace Aguero who is a top 3 striker with a lesser player City would not even have those trophies to talk about.

And if he has input on his signings there is nothing to shout about there either, his defensive signings have been woeful, and his attacking signings of Sterling/De Bruyne for big big money are givens, anyone could have made those signings.

According to most of the links it seems to be a financial decision as City will be due no compensation as they will be bringing in Pep.

I hop[e it's not a sign of things to come as it's got more than a hint of financial cut backs like at Arsenal when they were paying for the stadium.

Ugh! And to think many CFC fans mocked Arsenal for years. I am genuinely worried about this sort of thing.

I wonder if Deschamps is in the running at all. Was linked before Jose returned if I remember right.

Just about to bring him up. He would be number 2 on my list after Conte. Id like to see someone who is relatively young take over.

Pellegrini wouldn't even be on my list of top 5 choices. I think he is a good manager but nothing special. My favourite is Simeone. He looks like Chelsea.

Case closed for Pellergrini I hope. Having by far the best team in the league, still managed to lose 5 times this season. I don't know what most City fans think, I believe they should be leading by 5-6 points if the manager is capable of getting most out of his players.

If we hire Rodgers I might start crying

I'd rather Rogers than The FSW who might well be available again at the end of the season.

And don't say it could never happen. This is Abramovich making the decisions here. A man not blessed with a shrewd football brain coupled with the proven ability to repeat his mistakes leaves me extremely nervous at who he is going to give the job too.

Yeah Im not too optimistic either. The Pellegrini scenario is something I could totally se happening

Pep is definitely an option, but how is he a long term option? He didn't even stay that long at Barca. Let's hope Hiddink could rescue something for the rest of the season, don't mind give him another year if both sides are happy, then we could potentially get Simmone in 2017
