I am possibly the only person who wouldn't want Ancelotti back under any circumstances.

Why is that? (just asking)

Only reason I can think of is his plan B issues but he's proven he's a top quality manager with the trophies he's won.

A reactive rather than a pro-active manager IMO. Often overly cautious in his tactics. Yes, I fully realise that is now a criticism being levelled at José too but with Ancelotti I feel it is a continued characteristic.

The Inter V Chelsea CL match up with José and Carlo hammered it in for me though. We were at home for the 2nd leg. On paper we had a superior team but José kicked Carlo's arse tactically and motivationally.

Also apart from his tenure at AC he hasn't stayed long at anywhere either.

Personally I think Simeone and Chelsea would be a match made in heaven. That guy hates losing even more than Mourinho and his winning of La Liga two seasons ago was one of the most outstanding footballing management achievements in Europe in the last two decades, and pisses over anything Ancellotti achieved in his entire career.

Anyone who will make the story about the club rather than themselves, and who is prepared to have the team playing some decent attacking football is ok by me.

I'd say Diego Simeone.

The huge question is if he would come to us without Champion's League for a season.

Simeone joined Atletico when they were hovering over relegation spots 5yrs ago. This would be another exciting challenge for him. For me, he's the best (under-rated) out there. Given A.madrid's debt for which they've sold key players every season bar this summer and yet doing/did an astonishing job, I would drive him here myself if I could.

Good points

After months of whinging about mourinhos style of football and confrontational style you have decided Simeone is the best manager for us? Ha ha, oh dear me, you obviously have very little understanding of Diego Simeone.

At least a club of two... Nice guy, good manager but not top top class for me

Seriously, AVB

Available soon, check

Attractive style of play, check

Likes young players, check

Experienced, check

Familiar with the club, check

Willing to overhaul the squad, DEFINITE CHECK

Out of his depth at a top European club, check.

Out of his depth at a 2nd tier club like Spurs, check.

Did well at Tottenham to be fair, and didn't deserve the sack. Not the man for us though.

To be fair, the only similarities are that both prefer counterattacking and a slightly negative style. As far as I remember, Simeone plays with a high line and doesn't try to soak up pressure at the back like Chelsea teams have often done in the recent past (and like Jose has been doing this whole year).

Of course, Jose's Madrid team played a high line and were amazing to watch but maybe we just do not have the players to stifle teams further away from our goal.

They are both criticised (wrongly in my opinion) for their negative defensive football, and as you say counterattacking though.

No matter how much I like Ancelotti: club of three for the reasons Just stated, plus no new second tenures for previously sacked managers please.

Ok mate. Just don't stay too b*tt-hurt. He's gone.
