I went for Simeone because I think he'd be a good fit with us, I like his style of football and passion.

Hopefully he could steal some of atleticos players as well.

The BBC have in their gossip column that he'd be open to joining next season and doesn't think his lack of English would be an issue.

I think he'd be interested in coming despite no CL because he could "rebuild us" back up to that, although after a few bad results they'll just be sacked and it'll be someone else off the list.

The media reports are claiming that Simeone and Guardiola both would want a total overhaul of the squad, about 10 changes. So if we were going to go with one of them, and let them rebuild the squad, I don't see why we didn't just let Jose do that.

Out of his depth at a top European club, check.

Out of his depth at a 2nd tier club like Spurs, check.

He did do well at Spurs, highest point total theyve had.

He's managed Zenit to a title and theyre currently undefeated in Europe I think. He was with us years ago, when he was out of his depth. He wont be as naive as he was anymore

AVB wasn't interested in bringing in the youth at all. Didn't he stop the youth players training with the first team and move them somewhere else?

He was never the right long term option and I really don't think he'd do that well with this crop

After his Chelsea he had a stint at Shalke where he did make them play some impressive attacking football. But you are right - That is not enough evidence and this group of players need a sterner manager - someone who can bench underperformers to give a chance to youth.

I'd love Carlo back. A true gent and a fantastic manager.

German TV reporting Pep to City and Ancelotti to Bayern is done. Still think Simeone is our man though.

Carlo Ancelotti, someone who i never wanted to get the sack in the first place, would have been my choice. I don't think he would have returned to us though and he's off to Bayern next season anyway.

Roman Abramovich will do anything to get hold of Pep Guardiola, i'm not sure he will be successful though.

If Hiddink does well, i wonder if Roman Abramovich will try and keep him on if he can't get Guardiola. Hiddink isn't getting any younger though.

Frankly, the only long term manager I wanted was Jose.

Doesn't look like it's ever going to happen.

I don't think I have much of a preference now, to be honest, as to the next manager. There's a few I don't want, but none that I particularly want. The one I do want is unlikely to come (Ancellotti) and for very good reason.

Would be nice to see Lampard, Drogba, Zola, Etc, all involved in some capacity somewhere along the line (JT, too, of course), but Guus Hiddink is as good a choice as any for caretaker manager.

roman needs to give jupp heynckes a call and tempt him out of "retirement"

He speaks zero English and has stated it as a reason he was never tempted to move to the prem

I guess he's not going to say "yes I'm definitely interested". He could have said "I have a contract running 4 years etc" but he didn't.

Outside of Simone, I cannot think of a top class manager that is available to us next summer. I hope the club have done their homework and sounded out Simone first. Otherwise I don't know who we will be stuck with.

It's actually quite an important year as well given that we will likely miss out on top 4. Whoever comes in, we need to them to pretty much guarantee us a top 4 finish. Outside of Simone, the options aren't looking brilliant.

You haven't asked where Jose' is going.

Clearly going to take Van Gaal's place

Not a coincidence that Van Gaal is showing virtual disinterest and an opening is clearly arising.

Timing is perfect

Jose had a hankering for taking over in Van Gaal's present position
