To be fair he was playing against a piss poor defense, I think Ivan and Co made him look better than he is.

How is it short-sighted? If Costa lasts a few seasons and one of Solanke or Abraham makes it then I'm sure it'll be viewed as great long-term planning.

 Trouble was though Mourinho preferred Torres ,Eto'o and Ba to coaching him proper. He had played his part with two successful loans, he rightfully would want to know why Eto'o was signed to play before him.

This whole idea of Lukaku wanting to be first choice doesn't wash with me, sounds like an excuse tbh. He wanted to play, Jose chose not to use him, at all. He was clearly a talented player who would make it and it was an absolutely awful decision to let him go and so many people thought so at the time. That is why mourinho is getting criticism, because he deserves criticism for an awful decision and a complete lack of man managment.

If you're looking in terms of Lukaku's development, then those loans seem like great moves. Does he develop in the Chelsea environment equally well? I don't know.

Lukaku wanted guarantees of first time football 3 years ago when he wasn't good enough. Dug his heels in and was a petulant twat and was sold....for good money.

He has gone on to do well. It happens. Get over it.

I assume Martinez will conveniently fail to notice that Lukaku's second was enormously offside.
