Did you watch him last season and early this season couldn't get anything right, conte resurgence, benefiting from Kante in front of him and 3 cb's garry wouldn't be able to play in a 4 at the back in the absence of perfect fm cover anymore without getting badly exposed, he has adapted well but I do t think he is the player he was in 12/13 at all

I saw him and about 18 other players in Chelsea shirts struggle last season. Can't say that Cahill was main of the main culprits for our poor form and performances.

Start of this season, him and Ivanovic had a nightmare in the away game to Arsenal I'll concede that but other than that his performances were generally on par with the rest of the team.

As for benefiting from having Kante in front of him and playing in a back three, well the same argument could be made for Luiz... In fact, Luiz more than any player benefits from Kante and the back three but you argue he's improved as a player whilst Cahill has declined.

Cahill is on course to play in a team with the league's best defensive record for the second time within three seasons. In the 12/13 he was part of a team that conceded 29 league goals. In 13/14 it was 27 goals conceded (best record in the league), 14/15 it was 32 conceded (league's best), 15/16 season conceded 53 goals (8th worst in the league) and currently 21 conceded, joint best in the league. So really, I'm not sure I can agree with your assertion that he's declined when the evidence suggests otherwise.

On Hazard leaving

“The will of the player is very important,” he said. “If the player is happy and the player knows he will stay in a great team with great ambition, I don’t see any problem, even if this [other] club calls itself Real Madrid."

Even if this club calls itself Real Madrid... love it. A hint of bravado, truth and defiance. Don't change Antonio

You're right the evidence does suggest that but in 12/13 I think he was a stand alone good defender I think recently good team organisation has carried him, I always saw him as dependable until I started to see his frailties when he is exposed, don't get me wrong he is a good defender, luiz deffo benefits from the same as you suggested but he also has world class footballing skills which you can appreciate more in the absence of being erratic and that's where he has improved, his decision making, Garry always has good decision making he just panics on the ball and has lost a yard of pace and can't turn as quick add the those two together you have a guy that gets in a tiz when he is ran at, natural tendency to panic a bit plus knows he is a bit slower so it adds to it, if you put him in a mid level team he is very average as a Stand alone defender and although captain, conte will phase him out before luiz 100 percent, if we buy VVD, Cahill will get dropped.

Conte got most right on Saturday, I suppose he could have played Willian instead of Matic, but on another day Costa scores 2 goals we wouldn't even be talking about his team selection. He tried change things up, unfortunately it was just one of those days. He was humble in defeat, didn't blame the referee or all the enemies in the world. I'm sure he has moved on and get ready for the City game.

Great replies yesterday to some stupid media questions.

He is so focused on each game and I believe each and every training session.

Is this about Hazard? LOL! It's time someone tell those reporters. I don't blame David Moyes for what he said today.

Palace was just one of those freak results. Could have just as easily been 5 or 6-0, but occasionally things just don't happen.

I think it is okay to lose this part of the season than next month. I want us to finish the season strong not on a bad streak.

Yeah it was about Hazard and I like his attitude towards any stupid media questions in general.

Pep-Conte is really turning into another Jose-Wenger, isn't it? So far, the only goals they've scored against us are goals we gifted them. Also, Pep must get headaches every time he has to visit the Bridge. The only time he's won here, he needed the biggest ref job in the history of football. And he technically didn't even win the match in an of itself but that's another story.

I'd love it if Conte keeps getting the better of him even when they're stronger next season. Amusing case of pragmatism winning over idealism. Much like Jose vs Wenger in the past. Conte's practical enough to know we aren't going to f**king beat City at their own possession game and relied on our counters which we've used efficiently for most of the season. Neat job. 2-1. Next.

As usual, Conte most things right, couldn't fault him for the lose the other day either. Zouma was not quite ready for an intensive 90 minutes, justified decision to took him off. He obviously liked his WBs to be attack minded, therefore Pedro went into that position. Conte Vs Pep is good to watch, unlike Wenger Vs Jose, there's no bitterness between them, at least not yet.

When we win, he credited the players, when we lose, he took the responsibility, not much more the players could ask for.
