Kwadwo Asamoah

Featured Replies

A decent enough player, and a versatile one, from what I remember, but he's hardly played in the past two seasons.

More to the point is that, even if we are to play three at the back, we already have Rahman and Kenedy, two young players who are a perfect fit for the left wing-back position. There are definitely better options for the other positions he can fill.

I'd rather persist with Baba rather than having a cast off second choice, bit part player.

To be truthful Asamoah was never second choice. He's just been injured. Was a key first choice player at Juventus prior to his injuries. And the only reason he's been bit part is because of his injuries.

I guess he could have started a few more games towards the end of the season, but a) Juventus wanted to be 100% sure he's healthy and not rush him back; b) the team was balling so changing the setup to accomodate Asamoah wasn't a priority.

Club needs top players, we have an abundance

of mediocre talent on loan why buy more ?

This, exactly this. We have a squad overloaded with averageness, we don't need more of the same level.

Baba/Kenedy still lack experience and Asamoah can play at LB/LM. I think he'd be a good signing personally but only if he's overcome his injury problems and we can buy for less than £20 million (as reported by the Express)

You don't spend millions on someone who's hardly kicked a ball in 2 seasons.

It's too much of a risk especially when he wasn't all that before the injuries

OK on the first point.

But he was actually very highly rated before the injuries. Not the flashiest of players, but a very reliable top class first teamer. On 2013/2014 form he would be a definite upgrade on most players we have in his positions. No point in downgrading him.

To prove that I'm not overrating / exaggerating - Kwadwo Asamoah did make the official Serie A team of the season in 2013/2014 alongside Vidal, Pirlo and Pogba.

It's an opinion Jon, I and others were not that impressed with him. You and others were, that's the thing with opinions.

He done well at Juve but he had players around him who were very, very good.

He never stood out to me and I never once thought "I'd love him in my team" and that was before the long lay off.

He would be a better option than baba if the injuries were not a factor but you can't ignore that.

All in all it doesn't seem a good move for us to make, if conte brings him there though we will get behind him but I was hoping for better players to be coming in that this player.

Conte apparently with verbal agreement with both Juventus and Asamoah to bring in the Ghanaian to Chelsea.

Apparently practically a done deal. Rumours also have it that it may be a straight exchange of clubs between Asamoah and Cuadrado.

Biggest issue is his recent injury history: Missed an entire season through injury. Just under 1200 minutes of football for him in the past two years.

He is better than Baba at left back but Azpilicueta is much better than him. So I will take Ake ahead of him. Conte must be joking, he need to be more ambitious.

Depends on the price. Solid player who adds versatility and is also left footed.

If we move on players in the midfield, I don't have an issue. But with less games next season is prefer to have RLC and Ake as depth

There was quite a lot if hype about his potential a couple of years ago was there not?

After 2 years of injuries though I can understand why people are adverse to the idea of signing him, I can't say I've followed much of him in the last couple of years so don't have much input to provide other than he was class on football manager a couple of years ago hahahaha!

I don't like his first name. Sounds like something i'd say while drunk. It's a no from me for that reason

I think this might be the most English comment i have ever read on the internet. I love it.

Asamoah used to be a truly excellent player, but he simply hasn't been the same since his injuries. I don't think he has played two consecutive matches and he still looks like a player who is recovering from a serious injury, so I'd be surprised if this transfer takes place.

For the record, he was a great all-rounder - good technique, great left foot, strong, quick, versatile. He's a central midfielder, but Conte used him as a left wing-back in his 3-5-2 (he played in midfield at Udinese and now under Allegri). I'd be sad to see him go, but I don't think he'll ever truly recover his previous form.

What an uninspiring signing that would be. We really dont need another squad player whos not an inprovement on the first 11. Id rather give that spot to one of our academy grads

Always been a good player the issue is around fitness.

No doubt he could do a job in a midfield three if Nainggolan doesn't join. I don't think we can purely rely on RLC to shoulder the load.

Chelsea are interested in signing Kwadwo Asamoah from Juventus, La Gazzetta dello Sportreports. The midfielders on the Old Lady’s list of departures, however, are Mario Lemina, Roberto Pereyra and Hernanes, which means that a departure of the Ghana International is not considered as on option by the bianconeriat this stage.
