Wasn't it something like 80m euros they paid for him? Also, the fact that his value hasn't gone up even when the market has inflated is an indicator that his sitting on the bench has affected his market value. Not his biggest fan but he's quality still. We need a superstar to play on the opposite side of Hazard. Too much load is being placed on Hazard's shoulders.

Don't get me wrong I like him as a player he's quality but in my view he's worth between £40-45m...transfermarkwt has his value as £42.5m...if you believe there stats...

I would like James, but I struggle to see where he'd fit into the team, we'd likely have to sell either Pedro or Willian.

Transfermarkt is generally a massively low ball price look at Hazard (£63.75m) or Lukaku (£42.5m) as points of reference

Pedro most likely wouldn't go anywhere. I think we'd be able to hang on to Willian for another year although his role will be really reduced.

I'd say in the real world the prices are about right but in today's bloated money world you can double their prices for the very top players...not including Lookack in that summary though...if we could get Morata and James Rodriguez for around £100m that would represent good business...

James is the stereotypical luxury player, no club really needs him and very few can afford him. Not worth our time

I'm ok with James but that depends on the system that we will play.

I'm surprised he doesn't get slated as much as Morata considering that James didn't even make the bench at the CL final

That's roughly the same deal that manure offered them...I can only presume that there's less money upfront and more in the add ons given his lack of playing time...

anybody know why the utd deal did not go through for him? i wasn't following it. 

Well there's differing theories...one that they used it as a smokescreen to get to Lukaku and another that they couldn't get the deal they wanted and when Chelsea 'dithered' over Lookack they piled in...it should also be said that there is no love loss between Real and manure...which is good news for us if we go after Morata and Danilo ourselves...

You could be right but I seem to remember reading a report that RM have offered both of them for £132m...

That would be a good deal considering we won't get morata for under 80, no way, that figure could be correct but no way 100 we would be expecting to get james for 20 because like I said 80 if the minimum We could pay for morata 

Think the Chelsea offer for Morata is around £65-70m plus add-ons, so there is wiggle room for James on top...so maybe £110 for both?...James is desperate to go...he's apparently stated that he doesn't want to go on RM US pre-season tour...and RM need funds for Mbappe which is looking like 180m euros plus...wow...

To those, who have been watching Morata on a regular basis I ask: what are his weaknesses? I only saw him a handful of times and couldn't remember how good/bad he was. His Youtube compilations show a complete striker, tall, strong, great technique and movement. So what is his deal? Was he simply never given a chance at Real? His stats at Juve weren't particularly impressive, either.

Perhaps what he needs is a confidence from the manager to make him a starter?

well i haven't watched him much at all, but in regards to not getting his chance at real. i presume it's because benzema was the main man and then ronaldo kind of got integrated into a striker type role so morata was phased out a bit, and also went on loan during that time too. i honestly don't know for sure, so this is all guesswork.

I honestly think Madrid would sell for 70M+, they didn't want do business with United because they never got over the fax machine f* up De Gea's transfer. Morata wanted to leave is no secret, that's why the manager and team mates came out telling him not to leave. It's a no brainer, just pay the Oscar + Costa money and get this done.

 

I cant see Real leaving Morata go at all, he scored more goals than Benzema last year in less games and much less game time. Benzema is nearly 30, Mortata is about 5 years younger, if Zidane and Real sell Morata to keep Benzema I'd be shocked.

I do think Utd not selling them De Gea and refusing to do busines again this year regarding De Gea, has soured their relationship, its also meant Utd have turned to Mino Raiola as their main source of players, when before it was Jorges Mendes, who has his hooks into Real very deep.

I can see this saga of chasing Morata lasting all summer anyway, no way we get this over the line before the end of August and at that, I dont think we'll get him at all.

I think quite the opposite...I think this deal will be done within days...his agent has already meet with RM today and the player is keen to leave...and Zidane will just have to accept it as it's Perez who rules the roost there...

Thats already 13 players. Add Bakayoko to that (14). Adding James and Morata would mean 16. And we have not even counted the 2nd LWB, 2nd RWB, 3rd Striker spots (all of which are rumored to be going to non-HG players Danilo, Sandro/Baba). Dont think we should/could buy both these players, especially James as I cant see him adding much value. He will be the 4th winger (behind Hazard, willian and Pedro). I think Musonda should be given that opportunity and place.

If we struggle with the HG issue, why in the hell did we-sign Eduardo? Couldn't we find a homegrown 34-year old keeper to warm the bench for a season? Ridiculous.

I think the idea might have been about having GC, Cesc, Moses, Lukaku, 4th winger (Musonda), 5th CM (Nat/Baker), 6th CB (Youth player) and one of Andreas/Ake for the 8 HG positions. 

We dropped the ball with Lukaku and it might set off a chain reaction.

Zouma will also class as foreign this season as well. 

I don't think both eduardo and cabellero will both be registered. I really don't understand the point in having foreign back up keepers though. Especially when we aren't exactly swimming in home grown players.
