Alvaro Morata

Featured Replies

I would have preferred Bellotti but equally I have 1000 times more hope Morata will be a success than I did for Lukaku.

At worse we have a very good player accustomed to and proven he can cope with the pressures and demands of playing for a top club (my one major red flag with Rom as he looked frightened playing for us) and at best, well if Conte can work his magic....

IMO morata is way better than Belotti, much more experience and lethal in big games. Belotti has 1 great season under his belt with a team that had nothing to ask and played for him. He is a good player but a riskier bet than Morata who has proofed is quality at Real and Juve not in mid table team like Torino

How was fan attitude to Morata over at Juventus? Was he a well liked player?

I know Bellotti has only had one great season but from what I have seen I'd wager it was a Drogba/Costa like breakthrough as opposed to a Vardy like one season wonder.

I'm glad you are so positive about Morata tho, defiently makes me at ease reading it haha.

Good luck for the season ahead and hope you stick around :)

we loved him and still do, and he loves Juve. The only reason he left is because of the buy back clause. Juve did offer 55 millions to Real before buying Higuain but they refused. Napoli offered 60/65 and Morata refused as he did this year with Milan because he does not want to play in Italy for another team.

This year when Real eliminated Napoli and he came in in the 2nd half the whole stadium started booing him violently because  he is seen as juventino and he scored and greeted Napoli fans as they deserved

You might be right it is possible and he has shown some good stuff, but as I said it is a risk while Morata is way more tested and he has this important quality of coming out in big games. If you get him I think that MU has made you the biggest gift by scooping out Lukaku who in my opinion is nowhere near as good as Alvaro

And thanks I will try, love Antonio :)

Does anyone think it's worrying he can't displace benzema who is crap, or is the issue that he want's to be the main man upfront due to his style of play and not Ronaldo's sidekick and tap in provider like benzema? Also Mariano just signed for Lyon they have no back up striker for Benzema, does it make sense for them to sell?

They have Benzema, Ronaldo, Bale, Isco, Asensio and Vazquez as options for their front 3. (that's taking away both Morata and James who look like leaving)

Obviously want Mbappe to add to that ridiculous list but even with those 6 they're plenty covered.

Plus they played 4-3-1-2 a lot last season with Isco in the hole and Kovacic can fill in there so they have option of only a front 2 if necessary.

Morata seems the more desperate to leave. I wouldn't be shocked if James stays if they don't get Mbappe this summer because there are a lot more positional options for him in the side than there are for Morata.

Well only one of those players is a striker but I guess the way they play doesn't require it like we would, having watched them play enough to understand their system

Yeah it's so fluid that effectively all 6 count, much like Barca's only real striker types are Suarez and Alcacer.

This is why Morata excites me. If we get him it will make our front 3 way more fluid than it is with Costa or would have been with Lukaku. That fluidity should help Hazard more than anyone.

Sorry I meant I haven't watched them enough, but I get your point about fluidity when haz Pedro and fab link up it's lovely football Costa ruins that at times a more fluid striker would make for exciting football

If he comes i will be excited to see how he can prove himself. At the end of the day Sanchez came from a very similar situation at Barca. Super sub that couldnt quite break into a consistent starting role.

Man u poaching Lukaku may be a blessing in disguise.

Can't see Real letting him go unless they have a replacement lined up. Even if he didn't play many games last season he still scored 20 goals, and who is going to step up to fill that void if he goes?

Maybe that'll be Mbappe...selling Morata, Rodriguez and Danio is funding his likely 180m euros price...

Daily Express are reporting that we've lodged a £62m bid for Morata...

If that's true, then I reckon it'll get rejected, pretty sure United bit more for him, unless that really was a smokescreen.
If we do get him, it'll most likely be £70m.
(I think the price is massively over-inflated)

Well compared to the potential 100m+ for Lukaku, 90m for Belotti, it's quite... reasonable...

I'm not sure about Morata. Our 2 best strikers in the last decade were Drogba and Costa, who battle and impose themselves on defences. These more skillful, but more...I suppose "timid" for lack of a better word, strikers have been very hit and miss. Has he got what it takes to stand up and be counted, to get a goal out of nothing, by himself, when we need it?

Essentially can he do this:

Or this:

Or this:

?

Doesn't matter if it's more reasonable, Madrid know we're desperate and will probably try to increase the price.

Relations between RM and us seen quite cordial compared to their relationship with United...I reckon £65 plus add ons will get this deal done in the next few days...

Possibly, but not likely. United tend to pay more simply they can (based on FFP) and teams know it. Not the same with us. Any higher and we may as well bid for Mbappe ourselves, forcing their hand.
