July 7, 201610 yr What a horrible f**k-up at the back - Germany are on the ropes now. I did enjoy the commentators' little comment that Kanté "was like bringing on two players" as there's been a season-long joke at the King Power that Leicester's formation consists of "Danny Drinkwater at defensive mid and Kanté playing either side".
July 7, 201610 yr They're really making a mess of that Viking chant, they don't leave nearly enough time between 'huhs' and it just doesn't work. It's extremely difficult to coordinate that across an entire stadium because of the slow tempo as well as the fact that the tempo changes. You need a visual cue that everyone can see, such as someone at the bottom acting as conductor, which I assume Iceland had. A sound cue like a drum can work in small crowds such as in the Scottish video (I really hope people stop calling it the Viking chant and give those Scottish and Polish fans due credit), but it doesn't work in large crowds because sound takes time to travel. In a symphony orchestra, the drummer is at the back, and when there's a beat that requires absolute timing precision, the conductor will point at the drummer, sometimes ignoring the rest of the orchestra, to give them the cue. That's a short distance for the sound to travel, and it already makes a perceptible difference, so you can imagine the impact across a large stadium. Edited July 7, 201610 yr by offside
July 7, 201610 yr Germany can't score without a real striker. It's their main problem. Muller's incompetence this tournament has hurt them a lot. I'm surprised he's still being played every game.
July 7, 201610 yr Well hats off to France, they got given the run around in the first half but still managed to prevent Germany from really creating anything of note. In the second half they were well in command though, very strong performance; even Sissoko played well! Really good game too, I thoroughly enjoyed that. P.S. Credit to Thierry Henry with possibly the most deadpan declaration of being overcome with emotion in the BBC studio.
July 7, 201610 yr Good game, I think the final is going to be very good. Both of the teams have good and talented squad, but I think France will go until the end.
July 7, 201610 yr Barcelona has signed a great defender in my opinion. Umtiti is very strong, has good timing, always at the right places. Reminds me a bit of Thuram.
July 8, 201610 yr I'm predicting that France will win on Sunday. Despite being in the final, I haven't been that impressed by Portugal's performances throughout this tournament.
July 8, 201610 yr I'm predicting that France will win on Sunday. Despite being in the final, I haven't been that impressed by Portugal's performances throughout this tournament. Yeah, I would prefer France to win and think they will. Wish we had done everything we could to sign Griezmann whilst we had the chance. Player of the tournament and would have him over Costa any day but just like with Aguerro, we missed the boat.
July 8, 201610 yr Can't think of a French player that I dislike. Even though you have Spurs and Arsenal players in the team. I have nothing against Lloris, Koscielny or Giroud. Would prefer France to beat Portugal. The look of delight on Pepe's face during the Wales game is something I don't want to see again. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
