The international break might be a chance to temporarily down tools for some, but not Pep Guardiola. The Manchester City manager is busy putting together a £175 million shopping list that includes Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin, Juventus centre-half Leonardo Bonucci and Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in an effort to build "the best team on the planet."

As if they didn't just spend enough

Unfortunate news for Clint Dempsey. He was diagnosed with a heart problem a few months ago, had some sort of minor procedure/treatment, returned to training, and now has pulled out for the rest of the season because of the heart problem again. He said that he's going to return next season after further treatment.

A doctor--not his doctor--thought that was far from assured. But heart problems have many forms and degrees, and the details are unknown due to privacy.

His career was winding down anyway, but he wanted to go until the next World Cup if they qualify and still had something to contribute. It's an unfortunate way to retire, and a defective heart surely will continue to be a concern after retirement.

I really hope he errs on the safe side. I trust that no team doctor would let him take an unnecessary risk.

Not everyone is happy. If their stars get injured.

When it comes to his historical favourites, however, Ronaldinho cannot see further than two greats from Brazil and Argentina.

"In the history of football I only look at Maradona and Pele. Both are world football greats," he said.

The former Selecao star went on to heap praise on Neymar, whom he also described as his "friend."

Breaking news on SSB ached Evans found not guilty of rape

So is Jessica Ennis gonna apologise?

Not a chance.

This will get swept under the rug despite him being robbed of 3 years of his life, career and no doubt his mental health.

Nothing will happen to his false accuser or the hoards of people who hung him by media.

Sickening tbh.

Steady on. She lost her anonymity several times on social media and got absolutely hounded with abuse.

She also never accused him of rape. She just said she couldn't remember what happened or how she got there and that is what she said all along.

Sure, Evans has lost 3 years of his life, but this girl is going to get abuse for the rest of her life off people that haven't bothered reading about the case before deciding she's some gold-digging liar.

The whole case is a total shambles but let's not pretend Evans is an angel that's done nothing wrong. There's all sorts of shady things that came out in court.

If nothing else, hopefully the CPS can use this case to learn how not to deal with high profile trials.

What did Evans do wrong?

If you are talking about what came up in court then you'd also know the false accuser had previous of one night stands with multiple men and meeting up with men at all hours after clubs/pubs closed?

She 'claimed' she could not remember anything although several people claimed she seemed fine before heading to the hotel...she managed to pay the taxi driver etc.

Her whole story seemed very suspect and the evidence Ched's defence team provided made it clear enough to the Jury (which took only 2 hours to come to verdict) that he was innocent of this supposed crime.

She might have suffered some online abuse but a man lost everything because of this and spent 3 years of his life behind bars. That's night and day from any suffering she has had or will receive.

We're obviously never going to agree so there's no point going much further.

I can't decide if I think he did it or not, but it's worth saying he wasn't found 'innocent'. He was found not guilty due to the jury not being able to prove it beyond reasonable doubt.

Wasn't she underage?

She was 19 I think. It's pretty misleading when tabloids are putting 'teenager' in their headlines though.

I'm sure that he'll definitely take greater care in future gang bangs and I'm certain his loyal girlfriend will be glad of that. It'd be awful if she lost all that she has because of his carefree attitude to small hours spit roasts in budget hotels. I know my wife would be most upset if I was wrongly accused whilst taking part in such activities.

It's disturbing how many times I've read this type of comment today whether it be on other football forums or on twitter, What's wrong with having a gang bang or taking part in a spit roast? We say we are a modern society yet we still share a very similar mindset to the Eastern world when it comes to modern day sex. Has it ever hit people like you and others who hold this line of thinking that not everyone wants a routine marriage, Have kids and then prepare for death?

If the young women, or indeed young men, on the receiving end of the gang bang or spit roast, are consenting adults who have been generously paid for their work, then I have no particular problem with it.

You have to ask yourself, though, whether you be happy for your daughter or son to undertake such work.

It's a bit sad that you seem to think that the time between having kids and dying will be mind-boggling boring unless you can spend it inserting your organ into as many different orifices as possible. Perhaps you are quite young and inexperienced.

For what exactly?!? Getting drunk & lying down on a bed behind a locked door?!? The more things change.....

Oh Hitchens...ffs.

What did Evans do wrong?!? Well for starters, he admitted that he sought to obtain the key to the locked door so as to enter the bedroom in which the woman slept. Now why in all honesty do you think he did that? Do you suppose, for example, he wished to gain access to the room so as to speak with her & gain her wisdom on footballing matters as they pertained to him? Perhaps he wished to obtain her political views? You state that "her story seemed very suspect": in what regard exactly? her evidence was that she could not remember. How is that suspect exactly when you are extremely intoxicated?

The fact is that the jury did not have enough evidence to even properly consider the issue of consent due to the fact that the woman in question cannot remember what took place at the time.

And for ffs: the jury adjudged him not guilty - it didn't find him "innocent" at all - there is a tantamount difference. So - do us a favour - don't bother us with cheap & totally inaccurate polemic in future. And grow up.

I wonder how many one night stands a girl needs to have before the issue of consent becomes moot. More than five and she's fair game?

I haven't read up on the specifics of this case, so what I'm about to say is in general, not necessarily applied to this case: a woman can have had a hundred one night stands, drunk or not, and she can still be sexually abused. So can a man BTW.

I think if nothing else the Evans case has been a very good advert for the impotence of consent.

Men especially need to be more careful when having sexual encounters, especially if it is the first time with someone.
