Nearest and dearest rivals thread topic.  Seems relevant.

Mazzarri leaving Watford.  Not really sure what Watford are trying to play at, coaching merry-go-round.

They'll be relegated next season. The club are almost as clueless as Sunderland

Worth remembering that Moyes was trying to bring in another keeper in the summer and only played Pickford out of necessity.

Credit to the lad for grabbing his opportunity with both hands then. Bit similar to how Rashford got his break.

You think so?

he kept them in the premier league. Which I'm sure would have been the objective before the season started.

Maybe but it's never as simple as that with clubs down there, they have to be proactive and snuff out warning signs of a slump before it's too late, like the very club did with Flores. Here are some Watford fans views and it's pretty damming has to be said.

I would love to see liverpool drop points on sunday and have City and Arsenal win, just to see the absolute meltdown in scouseland and hear about how next year they'll win the europa league having failed to get into the champions league

I'd rather Arsenal F*** things up as it could set off a chain reaction: Arsenal get fifth place and lose the Cup, God willing. Wenger has a double failure and leaves (just for that sake of argument).

The assumption is that a capable manager, less set in his ways, will take over and turn Arsenal around. However, transitions are difficult. There's a lot to unpick at Arsenal. Pretty much their whole approach to football, their style, their dressing room culture, would go. And who of the current Arsenal team would you be gagging to have at Chelsea, aside from the obvious attraction? And he stands out like a sore thumb in a team of players who flatter to deceive and who often look as if they need a kick in the arse.

Conte managed a quick return to form for CFC but he had a core of very good players who had sometimes played poorly, or more accurately, played in a poor system, due to a specific situation (the JM issue). The players were still good and, with Jose removed, and thanks to Conte's skill, they quickly put the bad performances behind them.

I think that the departure of Wenger is likely to resemble the seasons immediately following SAF's retirement; despite issues with how Utd play, it's only this season that, imo, they seem to be making progress, or moving on. At Arsenal, it'll be very hard to unpick 21 years of being under one manager. That won't be a problem that Arsenal can solve just by spending, as Utd have shown.

And I haven't even mentioned managing the expectations of Gooners who EXPECT fourth place at least and are increasingly impatient.

I'm not a fan of the Scousers but their ambition seems greater than that of Wenger's Arsenal and, for that alone, I'd rather they got fourth place.

Therefore, fifth place and Cup runners up and we could set Arsenal back years :-)

What is with the fixture times this season ? i know a few teams have had to play catch up in recent weeks, but wouldn't it have been better to have played all of these weekday games on a Tuesday or Wednesday ? A game on Monday, two games yesterday, a game today and game tomorrow, it's stupid.

Sky showing another dead rubber, I'm going to join @erskblue watching the second half of the Coppa Italia.

On Watford - heard speculation tonight on Talksport that Claudio Ranieri would be the new Watford manager and that he could be joined there by JT in a player/coach role. It was only speculative...

Sky just wanted to milk as much money out of the run-in and were seemingly allowed to do so.

I knew Sam Hutchinson was still playing somewhere but didn't know he played for SW. It's quite amazing that he has come back from almost giving up the game to playing 120 minutes at this level and becoming a mainstay at the top of the championship. Real credit to him. He missed his penalty though.

It's rumoured that archaeological experts from the British Museum have been asked to do a dig at White Hart Lane.

The experts are looking at finding possible silver ware from the Roman occupation of the area !

This line I don't like: Asked to explain his visible on-pitch frustrations, Sanchez said: "Because sometimes when I look at the team we have and the players here... because when it comes to winning the Premier League we often lose or draw against teams at home when we are superior."

Seems to me he's too used to been at a club like Barcelona where they win most of their games. This is the Premier League Sanchez! Honestly more I see and hear from this guy the less I want him. I think his attitude is all wrong.

Breaking news...

Archaeology experts have found a silver cup . The inscription on it seems to also to have Roman numerals on it.

Experts seem to think that it is to celebrate a tribal triumph covering the combined period of two individual winter solstice.

The number of each winter solstice were added together at the end of the second winter solstice and the tribe with the highest combined points total received the silver cup...
