i think robertson has been fantastic for liverpool. i suppose you could put bertrand in there too. i suppose alonso is the best of a mediocre bunch.

Alonso is the highest scoring defender in the whole PL. His free kicks are the stuff of legend. 

Banned for 3 games.

Didn't think the challenge was that bad personally. I don't think there was any malice in it, but I'm not surprised to see him get banned because it looks bad in slow motion, and we always seem to get punished by the media for things like this. Vertongens challenge in hazard was much much worse. 

Alonso has had a decent season, I think his goals have got him into team of the season though. 

Hopefully emerson can make his mark in the next 3 games. 

With moses and zappacosta underperforming, it would be a perfect opportunity to go to a back 4, but I'm not holding my breath!

Tbh i don't think any LB has been outstanding, I would put Dave there just for his consistency. For Alonso it is more about the goals than his overall performance, his defiantly not a natural wingback who can run at defenders etc.

Wise was a pundit for the game, said it was a red card. So anyone on here who thinks it was a red card hasn't played football, must be the same for Wise?

His goals and consistent (although not incredible) performances have got him there. Must have been close with Davies and Young but deserved. 

Pretty poor group of left backs in Prem atm. Robertson would have deserved it if he had started the league the same way hes finishing it.

I could always believe that everything about Chelsea is absolutely perfect, the club, manager or players can do no wrong, if they get relegated on 0 points it's the refs fault. When it's Chelsea it's not a red card, when it's anyone else's it is, be one of those deluded fans.

I haven't seen a pundit say it wasn't a red card, maybe that's because there all against Chelsea FC like some deluded fans think the whole world is against the club.

Pretty sure a defenders job is to defend. Milivojevic the highest scoring holding mid. Don't see him making it into team of the year on set piece goals alone. Alonso plays much higher than a traditional full back too so goals are more expected. Lets not act like he's not been disappointing since the turn of the year.

Hardly pissing on Alonso, just admitting he hasn't been that good this season. I also think Vertonghen shouldn't be in the team either.

Although i agree there has been no standouts I think Ben Davies, Delph and probably Ashley Young have all been better. Goals have skewered peoples view. Obviously you can't say anything against a Chelsea player on this forum without being a proper fan though.

My issue here is why the hell do other players like Vertonghen not get treated the same way, and how do refs who were staring at the incident from a few feet away claim they didn't see it, purely so our player can get a ban. And yet when Martin Atkinson took no action against Ashley Barnes for his leg-breaker on Matic, he later claims he DID see it.

Whichever way you look at it (being unable to see fouls from a few feet away, seeing horrific challenges but taking no action), the refs are openly admitting their incompetence. And yet no action is taken against them.

The whole thing stinks.

Don't forget Clattenburg has already admitted that he doesn't play by the FA rule book, and favours of his own interpretation of the rule book.

You are correct and the rules are f**ked, always have been. The ref says he didn't see the Alonso challenge, well if he didn't see that then he shouldn't be a referee, exactly what Wise said aswell.
