September 11, 20169 yr Sorry bit Conte needs to respond more quickly...Ivanovich should have brought on Fab and Alonso in the first half...
September 11, 20169 yr Ah.. how I missed London, the stadium, the atmosphere, the songs, the players! Going to this game, hope I will see a battle of 11 blue heroes that win the game. Liverpool's morale is pretty good, they're coming after a comfort win against Leicester, they have a good quality in their attack, but their defence isn't the best. This game should be tough, but I believe that we are strong and good enough to win this. I'd like to see this starting line: --------------------- Courtois ----------------- Azpilicueta -- Luiz -- Terry ---- Alonso ------------------ Kante --------------------- Willian --- Oscar --- Matic ----- Hazard ---------------- Diego Costa ---------------- I also hope to see at least one from our youth on the bench. COME ON CHELS!!!!!!!!!!
September 11, 20169 yr Can't wait for this, another game where i get to watch our players ( mainly Hazard ) kicked all over the place and the ref only giving out one yellow card after 6 fouls.
September 11, 20169 yr ivan had a good game vs swansea but think if he starts at rb its inevitable mane will run circles around him just like last season's nightmare game at the bridge baptism in fire for alonso?
September 11, 20169 yr Win this one and the Swansea disaster would be a distant memory. With Terry on crutches after the match, I think Luiz will make his start for this one. I think Conte will opt for Matic over Fabregas again because Liverpool do have a strong attack and Conte likes to play safely/defensively but Fabregas will most likely come on at one point in the match. Marcos Alonso may make his debut as well and most likely Ivanocic to be sacrificed. Alonso as LB, Azpi moves to RB. Courtois; Alonso, Luiz, Cahill, Azpi; Kante; Hazard, Matic, Oscar, Willian; Diego Costa. The boys need respond well on Friday, this needs to be a win especially in London. September 12, 20169 yr I see Luiz starting. Although Ivan could come in to CB and Alonso play on the left. Conte won't start both Luiz and Alonso unless Cahill dropped as well. Ivan quite a good choice at Centre back I think. Maybe Moses or batman or Pedro could come in for Willian. Short week but now the international break over no excuses. Oscar will play and I can't see fab replacing matic given the other changes likely at the back.
September 12, 20169 yr Could be an early introduction for Luiz if Terry is out for this. Hopefully it's nothing too serious. Can see Willian being rotated out for Moses/Pedro, perhaps should've been on the bench yesterday after the internationals as he didn't look 100%. Don't expect many other changes, the team's been playing well and I fancy us to make this a real statement win. Liverpool are very poor defensively, and we've a far better options in attack. Can see there being a lot of goals but we should comfortably outscore them if we can take our chances.
September 12, 20169 yr Going to be an exciting game, and unlike most people i would like to see Matic start ahead of Fabregas - we looked awfully exposed in defence as soon Fab came on. If we're going to play Fab then put him in Oscar's place. I'll predict 4 - 2 to us, with Costa and Hazard the goalscorers. No one needs to worry about David Luiz, he always rises to big occasions! Remember his performance against Benfica away? He was a beast! Liverpool have a mean attacking line up but I'm pretty sure we will take advantage of their defence (Fingers crossed Moreno starts... Hazard will have a field day!) Conte will be aware of their strengths.
September 12, 20169 yr I don't understand all this finding a place for Fabregas rubbish. City play one DM Fernandinho, Liverpool Henderson, Utd didn't play a good DM at the weekend but really it should be Carroll, Spurs 2 Wanyama and Dier but as soon as they subbed 1 they bang in 4, Arsenal play Coquelin. Chelsea need Fabregas in there team and there is a place for him. Having 3 midfielders who run a lot and a right winger who does the same really means Chelsea lack a lot going forward. To me the other teams I mentioned are a lot more dangerous going forward and have more attacking flair. Chelsea rely on Hazard and Hazard and then subs. You look at Liverpool and Lallana, Wijn, Courtinho, Sturridge, Firminio, Mane is so dangerous and going to be a real test for Luiz.
September 12, 20169 yr Fed up with Matic and Willian, they dont offer enough, time for Pedro and Fabregas to get a run in the team. Courtois Azpilicueta - Cahill - Luiz - Alonso Kante Pedro - Oscar - Fabregas - Hazard Costa Chelsea 2 Liverpool 0 Costa, Pedro
September 12, 20169 yr I really, really really want us to win this one. I'm getting nervous already and it's only Monday morning!
September 12, 20169 yr 17 hours ago, coco said: Looks like the joker is back in the pack for this one. That might not be a bad thing TBH. As much as I love JT, if teams look to hit us on the break with pace, JT, Cahill and Ivan playing together can be a recipe for disaster so I'm hoping Luiz in for JT could be a good thing. Just hope Cahill doesn't get any punishment for his comments about the ref yesterday.
September 12, 20169 yr Have a feeling Conte may change things up tactically for this one... 3-4-3 Tibo Azpi/Ivan -- Cahill -- Luiz Willian -- Kante -- Matic -- Alonso Oscar -- Hazard Diego Edited September 12, 20169 yr by the special one
September 12, 20169 yr Hugely important game. Win this and we will have had a fantastic start to the season, anything else and it's just been okay or quite good. But i am confident we'll win this one. Think i'd like to see the same team as against Swansea. I like what Cesc brings coming on in the second half when our opposition is tired and aren't necessarily following runs so eagerly. And Oscar has done well this season if you ask me. Against Swansea too, may get scapegoated a little by some but he has been good. So he deserve to keep his place. Just hope JT is fit again.
September 12, 20169 yr Courtois Ivan Cahill Terry/LUIZ Azpi Kante N. Matic Pedro Fabregas Hazard D. Costa
September 12, 20169 yr from rawk I wonder if Costa might be the worst c*nt on this planet. I keep hoping he will be test positive for drugs and be expelled for 2 years. I mean he has to be on something to act like such an ass, no? Last year he was fatter in the beginning, did they test him for fat burners? I hear they make you a bit edgy. oh god i hope we smash these imbecile mongs
September 12, 20169 yr Author -----------------Courtois ------Ivanovic---Cahill-----Luiz Willian-----Matic-----Kante----Alonso -----------Oscar--------Hazard -------------------Costa
September 12, 20169 yr So here's the problem. I would have originally slated Fabregas in for this game, but I just can't see it being done now that Terry is likely out. Him being out means a new face moves into our defence, be that Luiz or Alonso. If I were Conte, I would probably feel uncomfortable having Ivanovic out wide against a faster player like Sturrige, Coutinho, Mane, whoeever they decide to throw over there. So I'd bump him inside and have Alonso start. But that would cause three changes to the back four (Azpi on the right, Alonso on the left, Ivan center). So, he will probably start the game with Luiz replacing Terry like for like. Either way, we will need additional cover meaning Matic and Oscar stay on the pitch and Fabregas is left out.
September 12, 20169 yr I think we should (and will) see the same front six. they deserve to be starting and I don't think this is the time to change a system that is a) working and b) still a work in progress. JT is almost definitely out. ivanovic was lucky swansea didn't play wingers IMO and if he's put directly up against the pace of some of their attacking players, mane in particular, you'd expect him to suffer. he was good against swansea though so could perhaps count himself unlucky to lose his place. alongside cahill it will surely be luiz so maybe bran will survive if conte thinks two changes to the defence is one too many. they're vulnerable defensively, we may be too against their forward line.
September 12, 20169 yr Can see this being a high scoring game both have defensive problems but we have much more quality than them so hopefully we smash these c**ts, Come on Chelsea!
