September 25, 20169 yr Despite everything happened in the last 2 weeks, let's try to take it as it is. We are no where near as good as some believe, Conte knew it, even the players knew it. It didn't help when we just gave goals away on a plate, against good teams there were no way back. Arsenal was better than us on the day, but had we not being so suicidal, the longer the game go on the more agitated their players and fans will get. It's easy to play the game when you are a goal up for doing nothing, and 2 up for doing very little. Our biggest problem is indecisiveness, in both attack and defence. Do we want to press high up, or any press near any end, or we just sit back? Either one could work, but NOT at all when some players decided to press and others sit back, and vice versa. Do we want our defenders to play it out from the back, or we just aim at the long ball down field, or kick it to the flank? Cahill, for my $, shouldn't be holding up the ball and playing out like that, he doesn't just have the skill set to do it when under pressure. Where is Cesc when we need to play it out? Most of the time he was in the other half waiting for the ball. The list goes on, we just need to give Conte time and space to revamp the system, and get the players to do what he wanted. I can't believe when some said the season is a waste after 6 games, modern day fans!

In my opinion Chelsea have a better defence and keeper than City. Pep doesn't believe in setting up defensively first and having 4 defensive minded players in the midfield. All that comes down to Conte, lack of creativity comes down to Conte and still playing Ivan comes down to Conte. Actually even before he came, I knew he's one of those defensive-minded managers but the quote about him being able to adjust his tactic to get the best out of the team gave me some hope but soon it turned out to be false hope so far.. maybe i should rephrase the question, why must a manager who manages a top team set up defensively to get a result? because of his limited capability, I tell you that much.. I think if I say pep is a much better manager than conte then for sure there will be someone here would feel offended.. I always rate Offensive-minded manager who wins more than the defensive one..

Too right, they are a f**king disgrace. Branna needs to be f**ked off to the reserves and binned Asap.
September 26, 20169 yr A couple of days hasn't helped to numb the blow. Caught the goals on TV again this morning before I left for work and not sure which of the 3 was the worst. 1 was all down to Cahill f**king up again and painful to watch. 2 was a typical Arsenal goal and a good goal for them but our defence was all over the place 3 This has to be the worst actually. Two Arsenal players attacking and we should have had enough to deal with the threat. But Kante looked like he was running in treacle (having already been mugged by Ozil) and our defenders not knowing to attack the ball or go with the man and ok, it was a lucky bounce but Courtois never looked like getting near it. NO Chelsea player doing their job on that third goal - truly shocking and it signalled game over. Edited September 26, 20169 yr by Nibs
September 26, 20169 yr Though we got results in our opening few games, it was clear to all that we had only just done enough to get by, without really playing anyone decent. The first two big tests have come; we have failed them both miserably. Even more worrying is the fact that our squad, with such seemingly brittle confidence (and cohesion), looks set to implode once more a la 2015. Too many players not doing their jobs, not having the right commitment, not knowing their jobs, or simply not caring enough. I don't expect Antonio to suffer the same fate as Jose without more of a fight, i.e., I think he will be prepared to make some really bold changes in order to try and get something working in our favour. I suspect the size of the task is only just dawning on him.

Luiz did the right thing and was covering Sanchez correctly, which is all he could do to stop him from shooting! On the other hand - what the heck was Cahill doing? Ozil ran off to the left and Cahill is running towards Sanchez who is alreaady blocked by Luiz. He did the same stupid movement again on one of the previous games! Not mentioning his slow decision making against Swansea and again in this game conceding us the same kind of goal! Enough is enough! This guy and Ivanovic + Matic should go! I don't see Matic defensively anyways and each time I see Chalobah playing - he's actually more solid than Matic! sucks!!!

September 26, 20169 yr Guys - look at the 3rd Arsenal goal! From the moment that Ozil turns Kante and runs off. I have analysed this goal a lot now and can say this. The moment Ozil turns Kante - Ivanovic is ahead of Ozil. kante is the same position as him and Azpiluceuta is also level - interstingly (Michael Oliver is behind Kante). Ozil has the ball and is sprinting and kicking the ball at the same time - he manages to open up a gap of about ten meters from the trio (Ivan Kante Azpi) is it that Ozil is faster than all these guys? I continued to assess Cahill makes a stupid run towards sanchez and Ozil dashes left and gets the pass back from sanchez. Just before shooting - Michael Oliver is now ahead of Kante! Ivanovic almost 15 meters and Azpi as well from Ozil? Is it that these guys have no speed to chase or its a lack of passion! Ozil is not faster than Azpiliceuta or Kante for sure??? Can someone help explain this for me please. i have attached the video for reference!!! vlc-record-2016-09-26-12h01m23s-Arsenal 3-0 Chelsea ? Extended Highlights 24%2F09%2F2016.3gp-.mp4

It's horrible to watch and really brings home how bad it was but I hope Conte sits the players down and makes them watch that again & again. They should be embarrassed to collect their wages after watching that.
September 26, 20169 yr Tell what is really pissing me off, Arsenal think they are a great team this morning ! When the reality is me and my Nan could have given Chelsea a good game at the Emirates.

Now they have their little manic stage. Whenever i want to laugh i just watch some of the arsenalfantv vids on youtube

I noticed the exact same thing, something isn't right the Kante of last season would have got back tracked Ozil and prevented the goal. Has the Chelsea Poison already got to Kante? Where is the determination and passion at 2-0 we still could have had a chance seemed like we'd already given up. Something is seriously wrong, the Spurs performance last season highlighted this most to me. We can play amazing and the title winning team is in there somewhere but it seems the team is mentally weak or don't give a damn. I don't doubt the ability of our players, well maybe a couple but I just have this gut feeling that there are a couple of bad eggs that are undermining everything. Why on paper are we above everyone bar City maybe but on the pitch we are mid table, and I don't blame the managers. Edited September 26, 20169 yr by DarkMata
September 26, 20169 yr Yes i noticed several players seem to give up chasing Ozil who is arguably one of the slowest players in the league
September 26, 20169 yr Apparently Bamford is friends with Ozil and Bellerin, or that's his excuse as to why he celebrated Arsenal's win, I guess he must hate us as he was never given a chance.

Well he's obviously pissed off since he must have thought he'd have a chance this season, but that's no reason to do these kind of stuff.. Very childish imo

The title winning team moved on (Cech, Drogba, Luis) or grew lazier/older (Ivanovich, Cahill, Matic, Hazard, Willian). The additions to the left over squad were also not great. This team does not have the same mental, physical or technical ability as that team sadly and we better believe it for it is real. While the rest of the Premier League has been adding quality additions, we chose to go with quantity and last minute desperate buys. We desperately need to get rid of some deadwood even if it is for a loss and get some fresh legs in (youth team or new buys)

Slightly. He isn't a centre back. Correction, he isn't a defender. And, yes I know, and accept, neither is Gary Cahill at the moment. It is like he has melted after the Swansea game. The more I see the more I think we should have gone for Ashley Williams as a decent stop gap centre-half until Conte could get who he really wants. Williams is a vocal leader too which we need. What a farce our back line has become.

We desperately need to get rid of some deadwood even if it is for a loss and get some fresh legs in (youth team or new buys) From memory Cech, Drogba and Luis didn't play much that season it was virtually the same team we play now. I get some players are older but it was only 2 years ago not enough to go from champions to where we are now, last season was a disgrace. Where did the spurs performance come from if the team lacks physical or/and technical ability? As I mentioned and this is where you are right regarding Cech and Drogba the team seems mentally weak or don't give a damn. As brilliantly talented as Hazard is I think he's lacks confidence and is scared of making mistakes, he doesn't what the responsibility of the team on his shoulders. If you could transplant Sanchez's brain into Eden I think we'd have a player up there with Messi. I have to admire the determination and never say die attitude of Sanchez, something our team is missing in abundance.
