Posted September 26, 20168 yr Why do I think that we're now a tinpot club? We suck. Simple as that. One more time, we SUCK. From the top down, we are no longer an elite club. Starting with the squad itself, there are multiple holes and average players still finding their way into our starting XI. Gary Cahill, Branislav Ivanovic, Nemanja Matic, and Oscar are not performing at the level that is expected at this club. At the end of last season, Emenalo should have gone out and sold every single one of them. Ivanovic is 32 years of age now, and can no longer keep up with the speedy wingers finding their way into the premier league. He is a bullish defender, but is susceptible to getting beat by pure pace. He gets up the pitch just fine, but disrupts the offensive play every time. His crossing ability is gone, hes slow, and I guess he has no tactical awareness. He pushes Willian inside and sits next to him instead of behind him. It should be Willian making the cuts and crosses on the right wing, not Braindead Brana meandering his way up the pitch. He gets so far up the pitch, and lacks so much pace, that it basically creates a hole in our right flank whenever the opposition counter attacks, and were back to playing with virtually a back three (made up of David Luiz, Gary Cahill, and out of position Azpi). I believe that if Ivanovic made the switch to center halve, then he could possibly revive his Chelsea career. He would be a good match inside with Cahill and Luiz, two quick defenders that make errant decisions. Staying on the topic of our back four, the fact that we bought Luiz back makes me cringe. He is a worse defender then Cahill is, and the fact that the board wanted to pair him with Cahill is sickening. It is obvious that they are incapable of playing together, because they both share the same weaknesses, they SUCK at decision making. JT has carried this defense for more than a decade and it is finally evident that we desperately NEED a big time signing to replace him. Zouma is still young and developing, and if we want to stay at an ELITE level, then we must bring in an elite option. Luiz, Cahill, Zouma and Ivanovic would all be fine center halves if they were paired with a great one (like a young JT). We should really look towards bringing in someone like Bonnucci, Boateng, Alderweield, or anyone that is capable of holding their own ground in front of TBO. Our fullback positions can be fixed with a single rotation, put Azpi on the right. He is right footed, and a natural right back. He is a world-class defender, and can hold his ground against anyone. He is one of the most consistent defenders in the world, and yet we continue to abuse his talent by playing him out of position. Conte two viable options to play at left-back at the beginning of the summer (pre-Alonso signing). Nathan Ake, and Baba Rahman. Instead of going with the in-house options, he decided to bring in a more traditional left back in Alonso, and loaning out Ake and Baba. Personally, I think that we should've kept at least Ake or Baba, just to provide depth behind Alonso if he were to get hurt or suspended. Plus, having a youngster breathing down your neck during training ensures that Alonso would be busting his tail to keep his position in the starting XI. We also have two other youngsters that could compete and push for playing time at center halve that the board seems to have forgotten about (or simply given up on); Andreas Christensen and Matt Miazga. Christensen is truly one of the great young defensive talents in all of Europe, yet we continue to keep loaning him out. Why not keep him in the squad, let him learn from club legend John Terry, and let him play some cup matches every now and then. Miazga held his ground just fine in the two matches he played last season under Hiddink. Next season, I hope that our back four consists of... LB: Alonso, Baba/Ake CB1: New Signing (Bonucci, Boateng, etc.), Zouma, Christensen CB2: Cahill, Ivanovic, Luiz RB: Azpi, some backup (maybe Aina) Now onto our midfield... What is Conte trying to do with his midfield? He has Matic playing as a box to box midfielder, which is obviously NOT his position. Matic should be playing as the holding midfielder, and Kante should be playing as the box to box midfielder. Cesc hasn't really even been given a crack in the midfield, and it seems as if Conte might even rate Oscar higher than him. Problem is Oscar can't control the midfield offensively, and floats out of position waaayyyy too often. Cesc wouldn't even have to really track back with Kante and Matic controlling the defensive side of the midfield. Plop Cesc in front of those two and we have one of the most dynamic midfields in the world. Since we decided not to sell Matic this summer, we should at least play him in his true position. Matic is too self-centered to adapt to different positions, and for that reason I think he should be sold. He focuses on himself vs. the team, and that is one of the reasons that this squad is downright poop. Cesc has proven time and time again that he is one of the games most prolific passing midfielders to ever step on the pitch, and if Conte can't find a spot for him, then that is Conte's fault; not Cesc's. With this being said, I believe that we have plenty of bodies in the midfield, especially if Conte plans on running three of them. RLC, Matic, Cesc, Oscar, and Mikel. Only problem is that Mikel, and Oscar really are not world-class or first team quality at a club like Chelsea. As long as we are employing average players like this, we are bringing ourselves down to an average (TINPOT) level. Ed Woodward is bringing in players like Paul Pogba into his midfield, meanwhile we pull our hair out of our heads watching our players run around meaninglessly. I trust Conte with our midfield, and I truly believe that it could become a strong suit of our team, just how Mourinho dominated the league with Cesc-Matic in 2015. Bringing in N'Golo Kante was HUGE! He really is one of the most dominant midfielders I've watched, and hopefully he can evolve his game even further. Our attack is full of great players. Our striking corps is killer. Diego Costa is one of the best strikers in the world, and if Conte wants to run two strikers up top, then Michy Batsuayi can foil Diego perfectly. We have Eden Hazard, arguably one of the best wingers in the world, and then Pedro and Willian on the right. Eden has his position on the left locked down, and Conte should grant him complete freedom to create chances off of that flank. The opposite flank is where things get tricky. If Conte was to play two strikers up top, then he should push Willian inside to create room for Batshuayi. Willian then could drop balls in from Cesc, or push forward for a four-headed spearing attack that could possibly dominate the league. We just need to get the ball up to them. There are multiple issues with our squad, most notably the influx of average players with no passion for the badge on their chest. This is a result of the poor management of Emenalo and multiple mangerial changes. All in all, our team can't put it together. Which is why we are falling down the path to the bottom of the table faster and faster.
September 26, 20168 yr Poor troll. Wrote such a long post hoping ppl would read but gave it away with the thread title. Must do better.
September 26, 20168 yr Anyone who uses the expression "we suck" not once but twice in their opening sentence of their first ever post, might as well just announce themselves as a infant, or, an adult who is on some sort of register. Didn't read the rest of it but I am sure it was riveting stuff.
September 26, 20168 yr Troll or not some of things he has written is true...If you look at the midfield players that have left and never been replaced. We had one of the strongest and creative midfields in Europe. lampard Ballack Essien J Cole Makelele none have been replaced with the same quality. Ashley Cole Gallas Carvallio in defence is the same. At least we can Costa has been one of our few shinning lights

September 26, 20168 yr Now you've written that long post, your mums just said its time for bed, and no watching porn under the duvet on your iPad tonight!! Sweet dreams tinpot
September 26, 20168 yr The club accomplished so much more than Arsenal did in the last decade. so . . . . . this article does not make sense.
September 26, 20168 yr We have the worst set of offensive fullbacks out of the top 6. We have brana at rb and a rb at left back whilst our rivals have young guys with pace and a good cross.
September 26, 20168 yr What's the point of this thread, apart from a cheap rant and name calling? We all know there are problems, and aren't going to be fixed by a Football manager style of 100M shopping spree and clear out. Yes we lost a few games, but I bet Arsenal/pool fans would trade 3 years at 12th for 1 league title. Its ironic every time we are on a bad run, you get new member signing up just to have a one rant like this . I'm sure it's just perfect timing
September 27, 20168 yr I tried to give his article a read but as soon as i saw him moaning about Miazga not being given a shot and how Christensen should have been kept with the squad this season (that was impossible if you didn't know OP) i just gave up.
September 27, 20168 yr Seen several threads similar to this one at Talk Chelsea. That is why i left it
September 27, 20168 yr I always thought the definition of a tinpot club was a side whose fans regularly sing that 'barmy army' chant.

It's not like Azpil has been terrible at LB, he is actually very good at it. So just to get rid of Ivanovic you want to shift the problem to LB but then its ok because its not Ivanovic.
September 27, 20168 yr Think this one has successfully bored the tits off everyone, so we'll stop it taking up any more kilobytes
