Tiémoué Bakayoko

Featured Replies

Close to the worst player to play under Abramovich.

His mentality almost as bad as his first touch. Sooner he is sold back to France the better. Transfer ban or no transfer ban.

Well he knew he didn’t want to stay at Milan after the racism incident. We’ve got a new manager likely to arrive and if he likes the Premier League why wouldn’t he want to try and impress in preseason?

We’ve got a transfer ban hanging over us so this is a good opportunity for Bakayoko.

Personally I can’t see it, I think we’re pretty stacked in midfield but with not enough quality, we need to trim the likes of Drinkwater and Bakayoko.

Bakayoko could be fine tuned into a somewhat decent midfielder under a coach who invests in him and suitable tactics. However even an on form Bakayoko isn't suited to the direction we are heading in (given Lampard's seemingly inevitable appointment it does appear we are committed to carrying on what Sarri started) but he simply doesn't have the touch or close control.

Klopp's type of direct up and down football is the type of football that would be most suited to him and could bring a tune out of him because Jürgen doesn't really require midfielders of serious technique for his style that's why Henderson has lasted so long.

But he had a new manager taht he was trying to impress, the manager that bought him....amd he was so sh!te, we loaned him to Milan, where Gattuso initally slaughtered him because he was so woeful. He gradually improved..in the walking league remember, but not enough for them to want to keep him.

His not staying at Milan is more to do with the racism he suffered from Lazio fans which lead to his falling out with Gattuso.

I think he’ll probably get a loan move back to France this summer.

That and they had said all season that they needed Champions League in order to keep him.

He was arguably their player of the season.

Are you for real? Kovacic at least had footballing skills even if in his bad days he contributed nothing. Bakayoko is either having a nothing game or outright almost sabotaging us in games.

Exactly my point, Kovacic has offered pretty much nothing all season so wouldn't be that hard to improve on, also surely being a skillful player makes him look even worse if he cant produce literally anything, maybe he should take up street football and entertain the public, this guy is a "Real Madrid" player right??? ?

Depends on how the new manager wants to play. If we went 4-2-3-1 no allowed him to play as midfield deep sitting destroyer maybe he could have some value.

Kante----baka

Pulisic/Pedro------jorginho----CHO/Willian

Let me get this straight, you'd rather take someone who's rubbish at football than someone who's actually good at football?

Bakayako has had a better season than Kovacic.

I'd take Bakayoko over Kovacic all day...,mainly because RMCF want a ridiculous amount for Kovacic.  They can eat his salary after the Courtois situation and not giving us fair market value for Hazard

Kovacic was a great player in Serie A, it’s why Real Madrid bought him.  He’d likely have had a better year for Milan than Bakayoko did.  He’s a better player.

Dont want either player both offer very little, kovacic played most of the season and was miles away from being actually good at football.

Kovacic played his best game in the final. I think he is a much much better player than Bakayoko who is simply awful.

He could improve under a new manager next season. But for me if the ban is lifted we need an upgrade on both.

Definitely not the worst was poor for us overall but had moments, he clearly has talent and he is young, the right manager could get him going I think. That position is easy to look lost in look at Pogba at times look at matic.

I was there at the athleti away game when we scored the winner in the dying minutes and in person on that night he was doing everything he was supposedly to, think that’s the night the “Tiemoue Bakayoko oh eh oh, along side Angolo oh eh oh, never gives the ball away” was premiered.

Great night in Madrid so maybe I am a bit biased based on that but for Monaco he looked a monster at times I think we give up on players too quick, drog had a bad first season for us too, in fact first 3 seasons.

Im a big drog fan and I get the importance of some of his goals no questioning he was a brilliant player for us but why we give some players such allowances and others zero seems very fickle.

Drog only scored 34 PL goals in his first 3 years that’s pretty dismal then had a 20 goal season then 5 goals the next season then 8, the following, if we got a return like that now we would go into melt down but we stuck with him and look what a legend he became.

Following thise 2 seasons of 5 and 8 goals he gave us a 29 goal season...but more perseverance and support is needed, I’ve seen people on here defend our sh*tshow bord to the back teeth yes happy to sh*t all over our players before they get a chance.

That night he was great as was Morata, so all our duds played well. But again it was a night in which we didn't want the ball. Same as Spurs away when he also played well. Problem is we want the ball he can't hold it.

I may be harsh saying he is the worst Abramovich era player but his performance against Watford is certainly the worst single performance.

For me it's about levels. Serie A is slower which suits his game better. Once teams here worked out his first touch was bad they swarmed him at every chance. His mentality didn't stand up to that.

If our ban is lifted we have to find players who complement our strengths in RLC and Kante. Players of the ilk of Ndombele and Neves

He did well with Monaco in the CL aswell he certainly needs to work on his touch and yea if the ban is lifted we don’t need him as a starter especially once Ruben is back. Kante, RLC and Jorginho are a top midfield.

Jorginho is another example we all ignored his brilliant early season and just blames him when we slumped he then adapted and finished the season brilliantly with arguably a few man of the match performances, we have Barkley between him and RLC and also pulasic being able to play as an attacking midfielder that position is covered.

We need rotation for kante however and Bakayoko is the natural option without having to buy anyone new hopefully ampidu will be able to fill that role soon too.

If he comes back at least we get to sing his song again. That’s a good one.

Always a shame that such a bad player had such a great song.

You're not wrong about Jorginho. He was great towards the end of the year. That said, I honestly think he will be off assuming we don't hire Ten Hag. Don't think he will fit the style of other coaches mentioned.

But course that is all speculation as it all comes down to the coach who returns. For me I couldn't see Bakayoko being a good choice for any coach.  I think we need to sell him now while he still has some value.

If it were me my six player rotation if we are banned (including injured RLC) would be:

Kante, RLC, Barkley, Mount, Kovacic, Jorginho (Ampadu if Jorginho is sold otherwise he gets a proper loan).

If we're not banned then we need to upgrade in this area big time.

Your point about his value is a valid one, if someone gives us a good price there are others we can get in like ampadu and mount.

If we can’t sell him and the ban sticks I think we have to give it a shot.

Im not sure about Jorginho pep certainly wanted him I wonder how he would have played him

One of the big what ifs. I think City are so much better for having Fernandinho who is so quick and mops up any issues behind their high press. Jorginho would have been a totally different style for them. I think he'll go to Juve with Sarri is my guess.

Ampadu in his cameo against the Croatia midfield was great. No doubt in my mind he could play a role in midfield if we are banned. It may well be that Bakayoko is used instead of him if we can't sell. That would be a mistake imo. I think we'd do well to sell him to Lyon who will lose a couple from their midfield and so will have funds.

Well we dont know that, Kovacic was absolutely awful last season, Drinkwater nearly had a bigger impact :laugh2:

Yeah Fernandinho is a top player and vital for City, they really miss him when his not playing. Will be interesting to see how they replace him as his 34 now.

Kovacic is as useful as a cricketer who doesn't score runs or take wickets. I genuiney have never seen a more pointless player in any team. Sure, technically poorer than Kova, but nobody like him who week after week does feck all, gets subbed, plays next game, does feck all, gets subbed..... I cannot believe the next manager will let Kova get away with dire performance after dire performance the way Sarri did, so send him back to Madrid!!!!

Juve apart, these days Serie A is a second rate league. Slow, boring football, acres of time and space  on the ball. About as far away from the EPL as you can get.
