Fair enough if you are just assuming that since you believe we have been poor in previous seasons that we will be poor again this season, but, seeing as the window hasn't even opened yet, it is hard to make any sort of judgement based on what we have seen so far this off season especially seeing as most media coverage is seemingly just throwing sh*t at a wall and hoping something eventually sticks.

Personally I have 3 judgement points; start of pre season, first competitive game and end of the window.

Last year we were a bit late with the majority of our business the season before was awful and then before that I have thought we have generally been quite good. Every club will have both good and bad transfers and even windows but I think we generally do reasonably well.

Seems like such an obvious signing, should have went serious for him right from the get go. I hope the board get Sanches if Tolisso moves to Bayern.

Seems like he was our 2nd option and the club literally used him to tighten the screws around monaco and get the bakayoko deal done.

Sanches is a player we should defiantly go after, I think Bayern are making a mistake selling him after one poor season, he joined late and didn't get a pre season, couldn't gel well with the team but he is a brilliant player, for once we should buy a player that has been sold too quickly and use it to our advantage instead of being on the raw end of that deal

No way we get our hands on Sanchez. I prefer he goes away from England. If City gets him, as report saying, then they are making another huge statement.

To my eyes Sanches looked awful at the Euros. All flashy fluff and too little genuinely effective play. If Bayern are ready to ship him out then: -

a) I'm not at all surprised. Better to cut your losses after 1 bad season than to wait until 3 or 4 have gone by.

b) Chelsea must stay a mile clear.

You must be the only one, he was a powerhouse at the Euros and a big part of Portugal's success.

In terms of raw statistics (he's actually been one of the best CMs in Europe this season but for one reason or another doesn't seem to fit in at Bayern (if I had to guess I'd say it's because of his lack of assists this season). Would be happy if we sign him personally - if Bakayoko doesn't fit in for whatever reason (and we sell Matic) we only have Fabregas and Chalobah to take his place, something I wouldn't be confident about tbh so for me Renato Sanches would essentially be an insurance policy (at just 19 there's a reasonable chance he'll maintain his market value).
